Menu was innovative and featured trout prepared in several styles. I chose the blackened pork with grits and corn and it was absolutely delicious. Husbandâs trout was fresh and very flavorful, although portion of fish was rather small. Sat in the enclosed patio which was a bit spartan and chilly despite heaters, as I was seated by the open door. Service very good. Overall, a lovely meal. Will definitely return the next time weâre in BR.

This was the second time for us at the Speckled Trout and it the food, service, and ambiance was excellent as it was the first time. Our server, Kyle, was very attentive and knew the menu details exceptionally well. We went with some guests who were first timers and they were equally impressed. We will definitely go back.

Good food and service. A little bit pricey?? But will return because the food is very good. Enjoyed sitting outside in covered porch area.

This restaurant was such a pleasant surprise! The food was excellent especially the almond crusted trout! We were there on a Thursday - we sit outside and listened to the live music! We will definitely eat there again the next time we go to the high country!

Our first trip to the Speckled Trout after reading other fine reviews and the notes that our dog would be welcomed. Our server was great as was the other staff. Our server was engaging and helpful. She was able to describe items and make suggestions. I had the trout, and being a first-time trout eater our server's recommendation was spot on for going with the cracker-encrusted version. My wife did not like the fried chicken as it was all dark meat and greasy. Our dog very much enjoyed her bland chicken breast! Make sure to save room for dessert. My only issue with the hummingbird cake was that I had to stop eating it and leave a few bites behind - absolutely delicious. My wife had the orange creamsicle cheesecake - she didn't share and left nothing behind. We will go back in a future trip to the area.

Food was delicious but I will never come back here again. My mother and I visited the Speckled Trout doe a late lunch on April 15th and we were so incredibly rushed that it ruined our entire experience. We sat down ordered two appetizers and two sweet teas. Our appetizers arrived promptly and we placed our entree order. LITERALLY 3 minutes later our server brought our entrees and sat them down while we had barely touched our appetizers. For the price of the food, we felt we shouldve been given more time. Server also rushed our check. We were literally in and out in 23 minutes. Felt like the type of experienxe you would have in a tacky place like Gatlinburg or Myrtle Beach, not Blowing Rock. 1/10.

Great spot. Make sure you have a reservation. Highly recommend the cheese curds and jalapenos appetizer. We had 2 of the trout dishes and would have them again. Reasonably priced and quick service. We will be back.

Quality of food and service were excellent. The pricing is out of line with quantity of food. A small Ceasar salad for $14 with barely a sprinkling of cheese is disappointing. Poblano dressing is excellent. For the price of the entrées, bread service should be a standard at no charge.

Another great meal that didnât disappoint!! We were seated quickly and the service was good. The trout is always an excellent choice!
