I never leave negative reviews but felt the need to for this. My husband and I are visiting from out of town and decided to visit this bookstore and was looking forward to buying a book for our trip. Well I’ve never felt so unwelcome in a shop before. I walked in and was immediately told that we had to wear masks. I didn’t know that was still a thing. I did wear one so I could browse but then I was asked it had to be completely over my nose. That was it and my husband and I left and will never be back.

Love the cat that hangs out in the bookstore but that’s about it. They are stuck in 2020 and still require masks. It feels like you jumped in a Time Machine back. They are also very aggressive about it which is strange. Probably just gonna buy my books from somewhere else. Barnes n nobles is better

Archaic Covid requirements and aggressive staff (masks, time and volume limits, required hand sanitizer or gloves, required sign in and asked to put any books you touched in a separate area). I travel widely and this was the most severe/intense experience I’ve had in the last few years in both the states and abroad. This severely limited any browsing and removed the joy of book shopping. Also very dark space and 2 cats (a breathing issue for me with allergies even while wearing a mask).

Super cozy book store with a great selection and welcoming staff! A great bonus as well is there are two store cats, although one is shy and a achievement to see. Be sure to park on the side of the building that has signs for foggy pines, as the other spots on the opposite side and parking lot in back are tow zones.

Have been wanting to visit since they moved to their new location in 2018 and never quite managed until this past weekend during a quick visit to town. The staff are super sweet and helpful and the store is very cozy and has a great selection to choose from. The way the store was organized was super helpful, too. Very easy to find what I was looking for.

I was super excited to check-out Foggy Pines and was so incredibly disappointed in my experience. The staff there should be ashamed and definitely need a customer service training.I visited with my older grandparents and walking into the store we were asked to put on masks and that there was a customer limit to the store so our browsing time might be limited. Absolutely no issue there. We are all fully vaccinated and wanted to support the store so we obliged with no issue. My grandmother approached one of the staff members to ask a question and simply adjusted her mask as she was standing there, simply pulling the center out while still leaving her nose and mouth covered. The staff member immediately scolded my grandmother for "removing" her mask and told her she would have to leave the store.I heard the commotion and walked over, only to see my grandmother being removed from the store by two employees like she was a crazy Karen.I asked what the problem was and who I guess was the store manager then became aggressive with me, saying that he allows his employees to speak to customers however they like and have no problem kicking people out. Their demeanor and attitude were completely uncalled for and were so very upsetting. We weren't breaking the rules and my grandmother wasn't arguing or being difficult. I understand wanting to keep employees and customers safe but there was absolutely no reason to speak to anyone the way they did.

Very cute bookstore with great safety protocols in place to protect against COVID. The cats were a HUGE bonus!

There was a time when bookstores fostered the open exchange of opinions and ideas. Times have changed. This frumpy little place is owned and operated by leftist ideologues who stock the shelves with books echoing their warped worldview alone. They also enforce a strict mask policy at a time when most shops have been mask-free for months. This leads to many would-be customers simply walking out. As we did, happily, rather than brave an attack by a horde of frail vegan bookworms. If you enjoy the company of wanna-be hippies and smug Ethic Studies majors — and if you just can’t live without virtue-shaming, pseudo-intellectuals and patchouli fumes — you’ve found your oasis. Otherwise, giddy up.

I walked in with a coffee. They politely asked me to sit it down while shopping as most retail stores don't allow food or drink. No problem I get that. They asked for my last name due to they don't allow more than 10 people inside the store at one time for social distancing. There are even latex gloves if needed....which is a first. Since Covid is an airborne illness this one threw me off.Even with a good selection of books I only stayed for a few minutes. Their store and their rules. That being said, I've had the vaccine and the booster twice and I've pretty come to the conclusion that Covid is here to stay and would like things to go back to normal. I don't want to social distance and wear a mask constantly 10 years from now.

I was excited about going here. First, you had to sign in?? Then a little emo informed me that I had to wear masks there. Really?? Didn't say anything. I had a purse and cup of coffee in my hands. I had BARELY gotten my mask on my ears before her snappy remark was..At this place we require our masks to be over your mouth and nose" I didn't have ANY time at all to remotely get it pulled up and set in place. Was she the mask police? Sign in to a used book store ??? SMH. I told her to have a good day and I left..

Great Selection of books! A great selection of books for avid readers, kids, and even academics. While some books are marked down, most are at retail price so it can be expensive, but the availability of great literature that's hard to find in other southern shops. When I asked to check inventory for a book they were incredibly helpful, a experience consistent with their all around great customer service. They were also still committed to COVID safety, with masks required and customer limiting. P.S.-they have 2 cats.

Really cool book store. Visited NC and walked the town and spotted this place. Small but loaded and they make sure to keep the population inside low for social distancing. Also love all the positive message signs and stickers outside the shop. For such a small shop the book selection is great and the staff is really friendly.

Have ventured into this book store a couple of times now. It's about the only place left in town that's sticking to their COVID restrictions. Everything is easy to locate, staff is helpful and kind. The complimentary bookmarks are my favorite! Would recommend buying your favorite books locally!
