Overall the hotel is not very impressive. It’s a nice location in the heart of downtown Durham. The hotel’s rooms are nothing special. Rooms are clean. Not very amenities in the rooms. I feel like this hotel gets more prestige as a tourist attraction.Rooms: The hotel’s rooms are nothing special. Rooms are clean. Not very amenities in the rooms. Nothing special. Not enough lighting in the room. The coffee machine didn't work. Someone was bringing another one over 30mins ago and I'm still waiting. Not pleased by the experience. Most of the staff were great!!I wouldn't stay here again if I could help it. Not my vibe.

Unfortunately our experience was not that great, and everyone in our group agreed. The decor was quite frankly weird - obviously someone's idea of trendy, but one person's idea of trendy is another's idea of strange. The breakfast menu at the restaurant was not typical for breakfast and the server gave the excuse that it is was because of the weekend, which was difficult to understand. The rooms were very dark, we had to open shades to get good light. The in-room coffee option was a nespresso machine and was not refilled after our first night. The elevators broke and trapped a few guests - it wasn't us but we ended up having to take the stairs for a while until the issue was resolved.I would choose elsewhere next time - people traveling want consistency more than anything else, not new and uncertain experiences.

**Front desk is on the 2nd floor. Once you get off the elevator, make a left to front desk.**Really great hotel. Fun and creative art. Front desk staff is really kind and helpful. Good gym. Walls are thin, but rooms are spacious. Hotel in the middle of great eateries within walking distance. Will definitely stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic Hotel! Stayed in Durham for a week for work and they were able to get me checked in a little early! Chantel and Christie at the front desk were incredibly kind and helpful! The nightly Bourbon at the Hotel bar was such a nice treat! And the Museum and vault are really cool!I look forward to future stays on my next visit.Noteworthy details: Free Bourbon Tasting and the Museum and Vault were incredible!

Great common spaces, but the rooms are absolutely atrocious. Dirty, switches and receptacles that did not work, and the shower took anywhere from 5-20 minutes to heat up each time. peeling paint on the walls and ceilings, and very dated and unkempt furniture. Based on the other reviews I have read (wish I had read these sooner, that is on me) this is common across the majority of the rooms. My biggest complaint is the overall service. We had a very early flight and called ahead and requested early check in, which we know is not guaranteed, with the intent of getting some rest after our travels. When we arrived, the room was ready and available and we paid the fee for early check in. After unpacking and settling in for a nap, a hotel staff member began trying to access the room. I made them aware that the room was occupied. I heard them say "OK" then they radioed to engineering that the room lock battery was dead. No, we had just locked it and that is why you could not get in. After falling back asleep, engineering knocks at the door to let me know my lock isn't working. I told them it works just fine and does not need service, we are napping and would like to rest. He then called to the room to explain the same thing, while I explained that the lock isn't broken, it is working as designed and to leave us to rest. He then came back up to the room to change the batteries on the lock. After all of this, any rest we could have gotten went out the window. I should call and get a refund for the early check in...On top of this, a week prior I had visited the spa website to book a massage for my partner as a birthday gift. I sent an email as directed on the site and received no response after several days. I sent another email... nothing. So I called to confirm and they said they would check. The day before my visit, Damian called back (great person who handled the whole thing well) and let me know that there was no availability and it needs to be booked in advance. Which is what I tried to do. So we don't book it, but at check in when I asked if they had any openings I was informed there was a ton of availability. At that point I assumed the massage would be subpar due to the difficulties leading up to it, and declined to make an appointment. It sounds like emailing like they indicated on the website does not get any actual attention.Manage your expectations when staying here. It is in a fantastic location with a lot of great restaurants around it, but I do not see myself staying here again.

All staff members were fantastically friendly and accommodating. Our server at the restaurant was superb and the food was delicious. The hotel itself was probably one of the most unique I've ever seen. Absolutely loved exploring all of the artwork and touring the old bank vault was delightful! The only constructive criticism I would offer is I think the servers in the restaurant should be better dressed. The restaurant is somewhathigh-end and rather elegant. As wonderful as they were, seeing the servers dressed in sweatshirts and jeans and tennis shoes did not do the restaurant justice.

Loved this stay so much. From when you arrive at the valet to check in and check out. It’s a magical experience. To be inside of a museum/old bank is one of the coolest things we have ever done for ourselves. We already have booked for Christmas.Nearby activities: DPAC is in walking distance.

For the price point I expected a more comfortable bed & better food. The room also smelled very stale & I could tell that the carpets had possibly never been more than vacuumed.

Short stay in interesting hotel in Durham. Enjoyed exploring the art gallery and artwork in the room. No mini bar or room service, which I missed because I arrived late Friday night. Didn't try the adjacent restaurant. Good place to stay for a weekend.

The front desk staff is sub par. When checking they did not tell me anything about the hotel the man who checked me in just said here! But next to me customers of a different race were told about a bourbon tasting, the museum and amenities! I am unsure why I was offered less of a stellar experience. Also, I requested a bucket of ice to be delivered to my room, they literally delivered a plastic bag filled with ice like I asked for it to ice my foot. The room is fine but the service has been less than stellar. Ayana at the restaurant is incredible! Amazing energy, wonderful recommendations and personality to boot! She has saved this place otherwise I would truly think that the staff was horrendous.
