This has been an awful CU to work with the past few years. Unprofessional and unfriendly customer service, and now I’m trying to close out my personal and business accounts. I spoke to someone 2-3 days ago, and they said they’d give me a call back but they probably forgot. It’s very difficult to accomplish anything with MCU. They misspelled my name on all of my checks and the process to open my business account took 3-4 hours. Please take your money elsewhere because they genuinely do not care about helping you.

I have been with MCU for 20+ years. My entire family has accounts here. They are always great to work with. Kristen Walker the branch manager is very helpful and knowledgeable. She is a true asset to MCU.

Kept the account as my husband has had it for OVER 20 years, but with their recent changes and lack of employee care will no longer be doing service with them! Not customer friendly AT ALL!

Have an auto loan here, and they really make it as hard as possible to give them money. Won't let you set-up an online account unless you're in the branch, and even then you can't pay your balance online. When in the branch, I tried to set up biweekly payments, and they say they were unable to do that. Seems like they don't want to help me set up my account to pay it off early and save myself money...

I switched to MCU about 3 years ago because I was unhappy with a larger bank in town. This bank has been able to provide me with the service I need. Everyone at MCU has been great to work with and willing to help with a smile. Thank you for 3 years of excellent customer service! So thankful I made the switch.

We have our mortgage with MCU and have paid off two auto loans with them. Their employees are not only amazingly efficient and knowledgeable, but extremely kind and personable as well - especially Laura D.!

I have bank with MCU for several years. I have financed 2 vehicles and a home with them paying a vehicle and the house off. I fell on hard times last year after losing my job at a local manufacturing company in Fletcher NC. I ended up having to file Chapter 7. I did a reaffirmation agreement to keep MCU out of my bankruptcy. After signing my agreement with their attorney. I started making my payments and end up paying more than the agreement. They added their attorney fees and didn't bring my account current as agreed upon. I also was charged a courtesy fee everytime for making my payments afterwards. Please be mindful of where you put your hard earned money!!!! They are criminals in my opinion! Also know that they automatically cross collaratulize any loans with out your knowledge.

Really friendly and helpful staff, and so much cheaper than the for-profit banks. For example, If you overdraw your account to get gas, they don't even charge you an overdraft fee (?!)...that is the nicest thing I have ever heard of a bank doing! Other places will charge you $35 or more...hitting the little guy when they are down (overdraft fees are a multi-BILLION dollar industry for heartless corporate American banks). They have great rates on loans that cannot be beat. Even if you use regular banks, it is always good to have accounts in a credit union, and this one is the best in the area for locals, imho. They have 3 branches, depending on what side of town you are on, and a phone app which is really helpful, and makes it easy to keep track of transactions... Highly recommend!

Recently financed a car with Mountain Credit Union and it was such a pleasant experience. Bailey set me up with a savings account and Laura helped me work out a loan. They were both delight to work with! Highly recommend.

I've been banking with Mountain Credit Union since 1992 and I've always received excellent service. I recently reduced my auto loan interest rate by more than 3% and lowered by credit card interest rate by almost 15% with MCU. WOW! Thank you for saving me so much money! I look forward to many more years.

Nice people, but as far as helping with credit, the institution itself is not very flexible. I've had much success building my credit online with self, brought my score up to meet their guidelines, only to be told their guidelines have changed since we last spoke. In times like these, having a credit union that cares and accommodates is important. Very disappointing..
