Beautiful place to visit. Spectacular views. Cool antique music players. Excellent service. Just member this is a historic hotel so maybe the bathrooms aren’t spa like there is a spa onsite. Go and enjoy!

Do not stay here!!! Downstairs was furnished with “turn of the century” mahogany furnishings… old carpet that was dirty… pool was closed for wedding and not disclosed to us before hand…given choice of two rooms (both were so sad)Old and tattered furnishings….. carpets were filthy,.,,.sparse toiletries in bathroom… paper thin towels..,, should have kept driving on 74.

We just had the most wonderful experience at this old, but elegant and beautifully decorated for the Holidays, hotel! We were guests for the weekend and hosted many family members and friends to witness the marriage of our son and daughter-in-law. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate and by the time we left, they felt like family too! We highly recommend this experience!Rooms: The hotel is almost 100 years old. Please don't expect everything to be perfect.

I loved this hotel. The staff was super friendly and had answers to all of our questions. The room (Swayze Suite) had everything we needed, a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, full bathroom, and even a tub room. I did not have time to try it, but it looked amazing. Big enough to swim in almost. They had breakfast every morning, it was pretty standard continental breakfast choices. The hotel is decorated everywhere with antiques and oil paintings. I could have spent another day just exploring more of the hotel. The area is beautiful, even though the lake was undergoing "maintenance".

It was very nice staying they're very authentic makes you feel like you're back 100 years ago.A couple service issues the bartender was very rude. He actually told us he's too busy to take food orders and there was only a handful of people that needed serving. The rooms are very small but that's okay it had such a beautiful atmosphere

I had dinner here at the bar and it was amazing! Even though there was a wedding that evening, the staff was gracious and attentive, and the food was delicious and fresh. We really enjoyed our time here and can't wait to come back next time we are in town!

I’m not sure what places people stay in usually that give this place 4 or 5 stars which stand for ‘very good’ and ‘excellent’ respectively. The place is old, tired and worn down from decades of doing just the bare minimum of maintenance and upkeep. We had a room with a kingsize bed and window facing the lake. The windows did not open (jammed). The blind and curtains do block much light in the morning so be prepared to wake up early. Our bathroom was so small that at the same time, I could sit on the toilet, wash my hands in the sink and wash my feet in the shower without moving. The carpet makes you want to wear flip flops. The AC unit in the wall was loud. When switched of, we could hear the party that was going on in the hallway of our floor. Linens were clean and mattress was comfortable. When we sat at a table in the bar area, I looked out the window just to see at least 6+ dead bugs on the windowsills. It’s been a while since they’ve been cleaned. The ‘continental breakfast’ is not great. Stale bagels, dirty tables. The staff is friendly but that is not enough to make us come back. This place is in need of some serious renovations and investment in customer relations.

The 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa Google review summary 4.4 862 reviews 5 ★ 4 ★ 3 ★ 2 ★ 1 ★ Reviews on other travel sites Reviews Search reviews holy smoke 1/5 4 days ago on Google We had decided to stay here as other family members were also staying at this location. The first floor is quite beautiful full of antiques from 1927 with information about them. The rooms were however a complete letdown. Extremely small, "queen" bed the size of a full and if you're traveling with someone who's a bigger guy, he won't fit comfortably. Try finding an outlet, very small bedroom, large stain on the sofa (over a foot long), furniture that was so worn (chipped, veneer peeling/worn out through stain) that I could have found furniture in better shape in Goodwill. The first room could not accommodate someone who needed a medical device so we tried a second room. That room was even smaller and smelled like musty vomit. The third room was slightly better but anything that we brought home that we used, and I mean everything, needed to be throughly washed to remove the musty smell. Window air conditioners were loud, pool was not heated but they do state that on their website. I understand that this is an old building but the owner seems to have not done any updating or even a good job of fixing areas of the plaster areas where anything newer had been added. The rooms were just very poorly outfitted and any updates were also poorly done (think plaster ceilings that were just slapped with some plaster and not artistically done to match the original). It was somewhat difficult to find two places to set our suitcases on without using the bed. Continental breakfast consisted of Eggo-like premade waffles that couldn't be heated in either of the two non-working toasters, small containers of cereals, packages of oatmeal, bagels and small packaged muffins. Canned juice and coffee were available. Overall it was a very unsatisfactory experience. The hotel clerks were very nice though and the linens were clean but why didn't the person making the bed also pick up the dirty towels which were just left on the floor. Doors and walls are extremely thin so you get to hear everyone coming and going. I don't know how this managed to get 4 stars from anyone but I would encourage anyone thinking of staying here to look elsewhere. It was a very disappointing place to spend $$$ for a vacation

Such a disappointment. Restaurant and lounge are closed Sunday thru Wednesday. There is no obvious mention of this closure on their website. Absolutely no where to eat dinner on Tuesday night. King room only large enough for bed. Very disappointed. Not sure why anyone would want to stay here.

I stay at Lake Lure Inn as often as possible. My husband and I live about 90 minutes away. I used to stay at resorts in other mountain towns, but I find Lake Lure is much quieter and less crowded - at least near the Inn. You don't have to drive far at all to find store, bars, attractions. They are down the road just far enough so you don't hear the noise or encounter the foot and vehicle traffic while at the Inn. The view from the Inn is PRICELESS!! The lake is stunning with majestic mountains as the backdrop. The rock formations and tree covered mountaintops are gorgeous. I know some people may not have been thrilled with the "older building", wifi strength or even finding a lucky ladybug on a windowsill at times. The century old hotel is steeped in history with celebrity guests, veterans seeking r&r after WWII, endless couples getting married on the property, celebrating anniversaries or guests looking to escape and unplug. If you want to stay in a hotel with 5 star wifi, the latest modern amenities and a busy nightlife, nearby Asheville offers many options. If you love staying in a room with real wood, antiques up and down the halls and a stunning lobby that can't help but give Great Gatsby vibes, Lake Lure Inn is for you. The comfortable chairs near the stairs on upper levels for family and friends to gather, the benches in front of stained glass windows on the staircases, the comfortable seating in the enormous lobby and the rocking chairs out front are perfect if you want to sit and read, take in the view or just relax. The bar is a wonderful place to grab dinner, drinks and meet new friends. Most people I've met in the bar/lounge are locals. If locals love it, then you know it has to be a great place. I know some guests are unhappy, even mad, when they realize the wifi and cell service are spotty at best. If you look at the mountains surrounding Lake Lure Inn you will not see ugly cell towers ruining the landscape. Wifi/Cell service is unreliable in the drive to Lake Lure and in most of the town from what I have experienced. Personally, I enjoyed not having my cell phone beep or buzz non-stop. I had my husband call the phone in the room so I didn't have to worry about our calls dropping. You won't see people walking around the lake with their eyes glued to their Smartphones. The people I see anytime I'm there are taking in the view, enjoying the pool or lake or meeting new friends because they are engaged- not glued to their electronic devices. Some reviews criticize the age of the hotel, ladybugs finding their way in rooms, doors not closing tight, noise traveling, the dated antiques, the fact the room keys are actual keys and not cards and even maybe a musty smell. I grew up in a century old house that was also a B&B with restaurant. The Lake Lure Inn is a gorgeous Old inn... made of real wood, Windows that you can actually open and there is a pool and some rooms have a jacuzzi. I LOVE the fact you can open the windows and get fresh air and even run a hot jacuzzi in winter and feel the cool air from outside. Growing up, we had to have the doors in our old home occasionally sawed off a bit around the top or bottom because real wood Swells with heat and humidity. The doors might look a bit "off" but that is what happens with historic buildings. The inn is beautifully decorated with gorgeous, authentic art and antiques, unlike most hotels with the same mass produced cheap poster prints, particle board furniture and ugly lamps. Yes, sound does travel because the windows are real glass (not safety glass windows that do not open). The ceilings are high. And the beds... they are huge and so confortable! They are not the fake wood platforms nailed to the wall or floor. I am sure the carpets do get wet and might smell a bit musty after guests come in wet from the pool, but that is true of any hotel with a pool /jacuzzis. Personally, I have asthma and have never had a reaction or smelled mold. I love the carpeted stairs and halls and light fixtures. I have alw

We enjoyed the Sunday brunch buffet here. Amazing. So good. The variety and quality of the food was absolutely wonderful. The staff were very kind and helpful. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The best of the bunch was the hostess who sat us. She checked up on us throughout our meal and was the icing on the fantastic cake of our experience this past Sunday. We will be back!

I’d start by noting the place is nearly 100 years old -don’t expect the Ritz. Window ac and it runs 24 hours in the summer. The double queen room had no place to sit. The continental breakfast ran out of coffee, oj and eggs. However, it’s historic and has a neat restaurant. Didn’t eat there but it’s nice. It’s a couples getaway if you have something to do in LL. Prepare for a lot of traffic.

We went the the 1927 Lake Lure Inn & Spa for brunch on Sunday. I believe the hours are from 10:00 to 2:00. Highly recommend if you’re visiting the area, as the food was phenomenal. We sat outside on the veranda with stunning views of Lake Lure. Reservations are recommended.Food & drinks: The Sunday brunch was fantastic! Highly recommend.
