We were very disappointed with this eatery after hearing from a local shop owner about how wonderful this place was! First I know everyone is short staffed and doing double duty however we stood by the door for over 10 mins waiting to be be seated and not one person acknowledged us! All one had to say as they walked past us numerous times was … we’ll be right with you… waitresses were busy, hostess was also as was bar tender and we had direct eye contact with several and no one said a word! After finally being seated and given our drinks … we waited and waited (again I have no problem with that,) my husband says - they’re bringing us bread any minute (bread plates and butter knives on the table)… we must have waited for over 30 mins for Bread!! It finally arrived and then not 2 mins later our meals!! Just not right … you form your own opinion …

We had an awesome experience! We visited on Saturday at 5pm.. we did not have a reservation but can see that you would need one during busier times because there are 13 tables, of various sizes, and the bar. The chef conducted a symphony of flavor and taste. Ashley was our server and you will be very lucky to have her serve and take care of you! We started with their homemade bread and honey butter, followed by a fresh seasonal salad (butter lettuce with strawberries, raspberries, goat cheese and candied pecans with a vinagrete dressing) butternut squash soup. The main dish was Dijon salmon with risotto and spinach, superbly prepared. For dessert we enjoyed turtle cheesecake. We had Cabernet Sauvignon with our meal and enjoyed their fig and honey mixed drink after dessert. Both were enjoyable! The Fig and honey drink was more sour than expected but tasted crisp at the same time. Could have tasted sour because of the very sweet cheesecake as wll. My husband and I shared all of our meal so we could also eat dessert. The decor has a European flair and is very nice and comfortable. Parking is on the street. There is a fairly nearby public park lot that would require walking a few blocks.

This is a surprise every time I go to eat at the bank. We entertain friends from out of town (Atlanta), and they were extremely impressed. Amazing food, each time it seems to get better and better. Paul is an amazing bartender, and treats his guests like they were friends from 10 years ago. When visiting Washington, Do not miss this place! We are lucky to have such a great establishment in town! Props to the chef and the kitchen for continually giving a high quality meal in town that Washington has been missing for many years! Keep up the good work! Look forward to future visits.

The Bank was recommended by several locals. It did not disappoint. Must try the pear martini (not on menu so have to ask for it) and old fashioned were spot on. Nice wine menu as well.
Enjoyed the steak and pork chop. Nice atmosphere and service was excellent.

It's one of little Washington's must-try fine dining restaurants! We recommend reservations, especially on tomahawk night, which is when we visited most recently. The food quality and preparation are superb! Additionally, they went out of their way to accommodate my wife, as she is vegetarian and didn't immediately see a dish on the menu for her. They made her a special order pasta which she loved! Can't wait for the next visit!

$80 for a 10 oz ribeye steak? That is more expensive than the best steakhouse in Raleigh (The Angus Barn). Right across the street 16 oz ribeye $45, and an excellent cut. Just because you look big time doesn't mean you are.

We stopped by without a reservation on a Saturday evening and were seated at a table almost right away. However, it got very busy - including the bar area - around 5:15 pm. The place was very nice! Very cozy atmosphere. There was one TV mounted near the bar area, and it was showing NBA basketball. Food and cocktails were both great. I quickly became addicted to the honey butter that’s served with the bread. I had Shrimp & Grits while my husband had the rack of lamb. We were both very pleased. Everyone who worked there was cheerful, kind, and helpful. We’ll definitely return.

We have been dining at the Bank for four years and usually, have enjoyed our dinners. However the last few times we dined there, and particularly last evening, the noise level has been so loud that it is pretty much impossible to talk with others at the table. The majority of noise seems to come from the bar area. although some guests seem to feel free to wonder amongst other diners. We will be not be taking guests to the Bistro as we did last night nor dine there again until things change.

Supposedly an upscale eatery and bar, the maitre de was not at all welcoming, and although we had reservations (and our table had been empty) we had to wait several minutes while an over-worked wait-staff came to clear and reset it.We then waited longer to get a basket of bread with a scoop of cold butter and a scoop of apple butter (that's the one star). When our order was placed (3 sandwiches and 1 salad) it was a full 45 minutes before it arrived. I ordered their Monte Cristo (essentially a toasted, pressed ham & cheese, $18!) with a side of sweet potato hash, it came with powdered sugar on the sandwich. SURELY the chef was supposed to put the sugar on the hash, NOT a grilled ham & cheese sandwich! Yuck! So: unfriendly service, mediocre food, average wait staff, unfriendly unwelcoming manager, lack of interest in any customers except one long put-together table of very loud women who the manager said "it's alright, they're my friends..." They were so loud and required 2 of the 3 wait staff to attend their needs that we didn't realize there was background Christmas music! We will NOT go there again.

We were not expecting an Art event when we made our reservation. People standing throughout the restaurant around tables where people where people were trying to enjoy their dinner.
I was excited to get the scallop and shrimp dish only to find out that there was chicken mixed in the pasta as well. This was quite disappointing as I didn’t want chicken with my seafood.
The atmosphere is quite lovely and we loved the bar/vault. Unfortunately that isn’tenough to get us to return.

The food and the service were great. The drinks tended to be on the strong side so if you like the mixers as much as the alcohol, you may not like the drinks. However, if you want the alcohol more than the mixer, this is definitely the place. Do not come here if you don't have a lot of time. This is not a standard quick in and out restaurant like a Chili's. You come here when you are out on a nice evening. We were there for over an hour and a half and there were people still there from before we got there. Again, it's not a fast place. And that's fine. You just need to know that going in. As for the food, we had the blue cheese artichoke dip. It was phenomenal. I don't even like blue cheese or artichokes and I couldn't stop eating this stuff. They use a deep fried Italian bread as the item to dip and that was unbelievably great. I ordered the filet and it was excellent My wife got the pork chop and it was really good. For my drink I got the old fashioned. You could taste the bourbon, but not the cherry and orange flavorings that were supposed to be mixed with it. As I said above, if you like the drink strong, you'll like it.The only drawback/negative I could give is that if you want a quiet evening, this is not the place for that. You are in an old bank here. It's basically one room, everybody close together including those at the bar, with no sound reduction. The walls are concrete so every sound just bounces around. It is very loud. You can sit outside though if you want. The drink, a Coke, the appetizer and the two entrees came to about $125. All in all a great restaurant. Make a reservation if you can or you may not get in. We didn't have one but we got lucky as they had an open table.

My husband and I came in around 6 on a Thursday evening (August 18th to be exact) and were promptly seated and then promptly forgotten about. Our server (a male, I don't remember his name), brought us menus and said he would bring us some water while we looked at the drink menu and then never came back. We watched him get another table AFTER we were seated and he brought their waters, their drinks from the bar, and took their food orders and completely ignored us. We just eventually got up and walked out. He lost out on a $200 bill that night as we went elsewhere down the street and ordered drinks, dinner, and dessert. There are fortunately plenty of other great restaurants in this area that want our business so we don't plan to return to this one.Side note, the ambience in there is terrible. Blasting pop music and there is nothing in there to deaden the noise so people have to shout to hear each other resulting in a very loud, unpleasant atmosphere. If people are paying $50 + per plate they expect more.
