Northwest Bank, once known as Northwest Savings Bank, is a commercial American bank. Its beginnings stem from their founding in 1896 in Warren, Pennsylvania. Northwest Bank has 171 branches in Ohio, New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Its parent company, Northwest Bancshares, owns $8 billion in assets. In 2010, Northwest Bank announced they were acquiring NexTier Bank which would add another 16 branches, bringing their total to 187, but it was called off. In 2009, they were placed at 54 on Forbes' list of 100 most Trustworthy Companies. They also were named the highest-ranking savings bank on that list. Northwest Banking's services include online bill pay, free checking and online banking.
