  • "With all the great reviews, I was looking forward to a great pizza. It wasn't horrible but certainly nothing to warrant the rave reviews. The pizza was very bland even with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and cheese. For the richness/heaviness of the pizza I expected a lot more flavor. The sauce needed more oregano, garlic, maybe something acidic to add a sparkle. The pepperoni tasted like something bought off a chain grocery store shelf. Cheese was okay, but how about a blend instead of just mozzarella. I felt the food was significantly overpriced for the flavor. I will not be returning."
  • "Apparently Luigi's is specific to the palette of those who don't actually get out of the Akron area. The pizza was a cross of Pizza Hut and Domino's, and was very, very acidic. We heard about this place, and since I work in Akron wanted to try it out. We advised our server that it was our first time there, and asked what was her favorite menu item. Her response? "Oh, I don't really eat here". Then, we didn't see the "cash only" policy only to be directed to a dark back room with a cashless ATM. A woman came out of the kitchen, asked if we needed help, then appeared disgusted when we said that we didn't understand how to operate the machine. Yeah it wasn't hard to operate, but the direction she gave was "it really isn't hard, you can do it, I know you can". Yes, maybe this is an "Akron Icon", but, to the rest of us, we'll stick to the places that actually make good pizza and have stepped into this decade."
  • "Rating experience overall. Luigi's anchors a remnant block of old Akron. Inside right blend of mid-century class and Italian kitsch (reminds me of Marion's in Dayton). Pizza delightfully doughy with crispy cheese to edge of the crust. House 'salad' great for what it is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
  • "Judging by the wait for a table, I was expecting a good meal. Service was quick for as busy as they were but that's about the most positive thing I can say about our meal. Garlic bread, served without sauce was the highlight, and that was just ok. Cheese ravioli had no flavor other than tasted like noodle water, sauce was so sweet it was like someone dumped too much sugar in it. The white pizza was bland and flavorless with a pizza hut type crust. Certainly not a place we will try again."
  • "Yum! My family has been eating here for years. Best pizza and salad. Great place to take the kids. Open late for dates or after drinking in the valley."
