Jenn at Chatters (Masonville), is just an amazing hairdresser! Going to her for many yrs. now. Whether for a color, cut,... Always have had a wonderful experience with her. She's truly made for this profession and does an amazing job at sharing that passion with her clients. Jenn's great at what she does & you'll leave the salon very happy. Actually, everyone at Chatters is just great, atmosphere's wonderful too. Kudos to all of you! (using my middle name here).

Absolutely Disastrous Haircut – Never Going Back!
I made the mistake of giving Chatters a second chance after they messed up my hair the first time, thinking maybe I hadn’t explained myself well enough. Turns out, the problem isn’t me—it’s them. I went in for simple face-framing and left with the most butchered, streaky, uneven mess imaginable. It looks like a toddler took scissors to my hair.
I was so upset, and rightfully so. I did end up using a swear word when I called them after getting home because, honestly, how do you ruin a haircut this badly? Of course, that gave the store manager—one of the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with a blonde old lady—an excuse to ignore the actual problem. Instead of fixing their mistake, she called me back just to tell me that this salon “isn’t the right place for me” because I was upset. Oh, I’m sorry, was I supposed to thank them for destroying my hair? Should I have served them dinner while they were chopping my hands off and apologized for bleeding? She kept saying my front hair pieces were short and the hairstylist was trying to blend in the pieces, my hair was till my jaw line that I wanted it to fall outwards instead of the way it looked like as it was falling inwards and they cut it so so so short to a point where the only thing that is going to help this haircut is me growing it out.
This salon is a joke. If you care about your hair even a little, do yourself a favour and stay FAR away.

If you are looking to get your hair done ask to book with Jennifer. She is new to this salon, but is an experienced stylist. I have been going to her for over 10 years! She is down to earth, and very knowledgeable and skilled when it comes to colour chemistry. Give her a call, you won’t be disappointed!

I have never gone to a salon to dye my hair but I decided to go this time. I had such a good experience. I initially went into chatters to get a quote on how much my request would cost me and they were able to book me in when I walked in that day. I was also in a little bit of a time crunch and my stylist Ro did not only dye my hair ever so beautifully, but also finish it by the time I had to leave. My experience did not feel rushed at all.
In regard to customer service I was also very pleased. After my salon visit, I washed my hair the next day and convinced myself that my hair faded when it did not. When I called the salon they immediately offered me a call back from the stylist and assured me that it could be fixed if there was anything wrong with the colour. Now I did not end up needing a call back as I realized I was was just anxious but they still assured me that if I do have a problem with the colour fading later, I am welcome to call chatters to find a solution.
Overall, I am extremely happy about having trusted my hair to Ro at the Richmond location and the supportive customer service. :))

I was happy the first time I went in. The second time, I had my hair coloured! What a mess. I asked for dark ash brown. I got lighter golden brown that was blotchy everywhere. There was gray not covered at all. Also, my stylist was cold and didn’t want to engage in any conversation at all.

We had an appointment booked at Chatters for our toddler daughter to get a trim. We called ahead to inform the front desk that we would be 5 minutes late due to traffic, and they assured us it wouldn’t be an issue. Upon arriving, they seated us and began preparing for the haircut. However, moments later, we were told that they could only cut her bangs, as 20–25 minutes was “not enough time” for a full haircut for a 1-year-old.
This left us deeply disappointed and questioning their approach. If they genuinely didn’t have enough time for the appointment, why wasn’t this communicated when we arrived—or even when we called? The experience felt dismissive and unfair, and we couldn’t help feel uncomfortable in how this situation was handled.
We are incredibly dissatisfied with how this was managed and will not be returning.

I asked for a seasoned stylist to do roots, toner and a haircut. They put me with an 'elite' stylist. She looked at my hair and seemed to be at a loss. I told her she should have my history on the computer. She said they have a new coluring brand so that history won't help. She needed help from colleagues to put the colour together. She was taking quite some time in the back to figure out the colours so I asked her colleague whether she was new. Her colleague assured me she was an elite stylist. When it came time to do the toner, she again took some time to figure out the color. My roots came out orange but after she put the toner on, it was a better. During the cut, she said the colour/toner took way too long and I was lucky there wasn't someone booked after me. She told me next time, I need to book the toner, I told her I did. She ended up charging me a full hair colour rather than the roots! Regardless, this person is NOT an elite stylist. The fact that I had to pay quite a bit more for her 'skill' is just wrong. The reason my colour took so long is bc she had no idea what colours to combine and needed help from her colleagues! I also want to mention, when I booked my appt, I was clear in telling the receptionist (who needs customer service training) that I wanted the roots done, toner and haircut. After we hung up, I received a text with a completely different date/time so I called back and told her, she seemed annoyed that I didn't know their system had a glitch. This place...

I went in today to buy some hairspray. I took it up to counter to pay, where an older lady with short white hair was. I stood there for 5 min, she never said a word to me. Didn't even acknowledge i was there. Finally I said, "could I please pay for this?" She gave me a nasty look, rang it through and still never said anything to me. I felt like I was such a bother to her. I wonder how long I would have stood there if I didn't say anything. Definitely not a good look, and I will NOT come back to this store again. Perhaps she missed out on "training and proper etiquette!" There were two younger girls beside her and they looked just as surprised as I did.

Asked for a trim of an inch. They hacked off 4 inches, cut it unevenly, I have shelving and steps EVERYWHERE. Save your time. Go somewhere else. Didn’t complain immediately because I figured I could fix my bangs myself, until I got my hair coloured a few days later and my stylist showed me all of this mess that the chatter’s stylist made of my hair.

I went in for a bang trim, and right off the bat, the hairdresser (blonde, don’t know her name) was extremely rude. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it didn’t get any better.
Once I sat down, she even told my friends to “stand in the back” in a really unfriendly and dismissive tone.
I asked for curtain bangs, and we agreed on the length. But when she cut it, that length felt too short to be curtain bangs, so I asked if we could go for a regular fringe, and she basically said that “that was all I was getting for that service” and my time was up. I hadn’t even been in that chair for 10 minutes.
TERRIBLE experience. I will never go back there!

Wish I can give zero stars.
I accompanied a friend today. The hairdresser was not nice from the very beginning. Anyways i was looking at products to buy and after walking around for a bit went in to check on my friend. I had barely stepped foot in the back where my friend was seated and the hairdresser very rudely and with a very sharp unfriendly tone asked me to step back and sit away. The store was empty. There was no one else getting a haircut neither was there any crowd to explain why she acted that way.
Later my friend was very displeased with the haircut which was done very poorly and in under 10 minutes. She asked for a fix to one of the bangs which was flying off and the hairdresser LITERALLY GASLIT MY FRIEND that theres nothing wrong with it (clearly everyone could see something was wrong with it). My friend was very pleasant and nice and ask since its shorter than she wanted it to be for her to cut it a bit more to be the same length as her eyebrows/ fringe. The hairdresser was rude again and dismissed my friend and told her this is the most “service she will get for what she paid for”
Horrible people. Need training in how to talk to others. Id never get a haircut there and leave feeling like trash like that…
I do not recommend this shop.

The women with the light brown curly hair was extremely helpful. I asked her many questions about my hair type, and she was able to provide me with many recommendations. She even helped me to narrow it down. I tried the sample that she recommended me, which was from the brand milkshake, and it worked perfectly for me. We respect workers like her, ones that are able to be very knowledgeable on products and able to work with many different hair types. Thank you

Terrible experience. The worst “haircut” ( I’d call a hack job) I’ve ever received. Super choppy and not blended together at all. Asked for next to nothing taken off my length and for it not to change but wanted to add texture with layers and left with my hair 6 inches shorter than expected. Also cost me $75 that I wish I didn’t pay as I just wanted to cry when I seen my hair.
