It was loud, and my beef melt sandwich was pretty greasey... good tho and fries were excellent. Service was flawless

Great place for a nice sit down lunch or dinner. My favorites are the Pork Mango Tostada, Oysters, and Halibut Cakes. Always a great selection of local mibcrobrews as well. Great service, especially the bartenders.

A great spot located near the University of Oregon campus! The cafe is order ahead and was pretty busy when my friends and I came in (we waited about ten minutes to order). The cashier was very nice and the service of the restaurant was quick (we received our orders in ten minutes).

Each time we've been (2 lunches, 1 Sunday brunch) we've really enjoyed our meals. We've also noted that service and food delivery is real slow. Each time, we notice that we're in for much longer than we'd wanted to for a lunch spot.

Decided to try Café 440 on a Saturday, unfortunately wait was slow possibly due to Ducks game being on? Good atmosphere and clean. I ordered the mac and cheese which was some of the creamiest mac I've ever had- SO DELICIOUS! while boyfriend had a grilled cheese which was.made to absolute perfection! Would totally come back!

This place has all the makings of an amazing foodie place from their menu offerings to seasonal and unique cocktails and extensive wine lists to rotating desserts. Everything is good.... but falls short of great. It seems to get to a high point so quickly but then falls flat hard before they get all the way there. Ex: sweet potato fries are good and skin on and thick and great dipping sauces but not crispy and no seasonings. Nachos are loaded up and stacked but the chips are tough to chew and the toppings aren't distributed the the whole pile. Salads are creative and pair well with great protein adds but the dressings overpower or don't pair and there is not enough of the other ingredients. Really really good. But not quite

Fantastic food and drinks. Hawaiian meatballs (a little spicy!) and the stroganoff were highlights.

Good food, nice menu. Atmosphere is friendly. One problem and keeps me away sometimes is the noise.

Holy biscuits! I've now eaten here a half dozen times and each/every visit has been worth sharing. The food has yet to disappoint, but the service has been a real standout to me--particularly when the owner is on scene. It's abundantly clear that he cares about his crew and not only how they represent his business... but how he can improve their well being. So there are a lot of things I can & do find appreciable about 440, but none more pressing to me at this moment than the experience I had just yesterday. I'm talking entirely about their nachos! I've been on a "quest" of sorts, to find the best nachos within an hour from home. I've been to bars, restaurants, food trucks, etc.... I've even made a few plates myself that I'd say were above the norm in yum factor. I've had some truly shameful misrepresentations placed before me, and a number of others that span the gulf between decent and not too bad. But it's been just a small number in even the past 15 years I think I could call exceptional. Until now! Cafe 440 is offering a plate of nachos that I can't for a second, in good conscience, call anything but exceptional. It's so good that I ate the entire thing... despite being more than full about 2/3 through... simply because I needed to keep tasting the damned things. LOL The chips.... ohhhhhh the chips. So thick, so crispy, so NOT soggy at the end. Then theres the port/avocad/and feta cheese exploding in your face hole... all in perfect harmony. I don't know exactly all the topping in this mix, but I know I struggle to imagine a way one might improve upon it. I'm considering having them again tonight. This might be the first time I liked a plate so much that I feel separation anxiety. Can one "miss" a plate of food??? Sigh..... Well damned done 440! This dish is king of the court in my list of nachos.

Always a high standard but we recently found a "new" source of enjoyment. Order their excellent Caesar salad but then add a nice filet of salmon for an adnl $10 and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the very adequate size. An if you're like us and don't want your salmon filet cooked till it's dry and less flavor-able just request it be cooked "medium" and you'll be thrilled with a nice moist perfectly prepared piece of Silver Salmon. A really nice dinner for less than $20 and prepared perfectly.

Just tried Cafe 440 tonight. My oldest son has the burger and loved it! Super juicy with the right amount of bleed! He dips his burgers in the drippings..The fries are incredible as well as the home made ranch. My salmon and chips were ok, my salmon was dry so I was bummed... my youngest had the Mac and cheese and it was meh. It's creamy but lacked flavor so we rebaked it with sharp cheddar at home lol! But... the oysters.. they were to die for, the breading was crisp, the oysters were tender and the sauce was incredible.. I even ate the greens it came on. I won't give up on this place.. we will work through the menu.

Found this on Yelp as we travel through Oregon and glad we did! I had an Oregon Ginger Blossom - perfect! Several had the fried chicken pot pie, others had the salmon fish and chips and we all devoured it all! Our waiter, Andrew, as awesome, but a bit slow because he had to double as bar tender. Very friendly atmosphere. Very good food. Well worth the visit.

Wannabe Portland bourgeoisie. Food took too long for how busy it was, and WAY overpriced. Not quite sure how this place has managed to stay in business, but I'll never eat here again. Oh, and my salmon was undercooked.

Great place to celebrate a birthday with friends. The atmosphere is rustic modern. The menu is amazing with a large verity of options for each dish. I had their Bacon Blue Mac and Cheese for $15.00. A little on the pricey side but not if you take into account that they use fresh ingredients and make most of the components in house. It is a definite repeat place in my book so when in the area you need to check them out.

I cant believe how welcome they made me feel just for walking in the doors and have made this one of my can't miss Eugene dining experiences. Food was delicious, service was amazing. Go and dine with confidence. I have no doubt you will leave full and happy!

This place was a mixture between fast food and sit down. Service was okay and the food was okay. Nothing to cry about but also not worth a repeat visit for us.

We were looking for a new place to try and this turned out to be an excellent choice. It is open seating and therefore a little loud inside but not terrible. The food was amazing and the drinks were good too. I had the brisket bandito and the meat was soft and creamy with the grits, i would recommend that 100 percent.

I love coming here for lunch and having their ahi! It's such a unique spin on it with the crunchy peppers. My grandfather loves to come here for their mac and cheese! Great drink selection and easy to get to and easy to park at. Sometimes there is a wait, but the staff is very nice and tells it like it is (wait times).

We had great service from Cody and wonderful food from Café 440 for a back to school dinner celebration with my god son and his Mom. Jordan went for the salmon special. Portion size is generous. Food was well prepared and the flavors were amazing. I had three pulled pork sliders which were moist and delicious in fresh rolls. Jody had pulled pork tostada which was excellent. Ambiance is casual but almost too loud for us to have a conversation without yelling at each other. Thanks Cody for the great service and wonderful food.

Best meatloaf I've ever had (don't tell my mom). Went on a Wednesday night, fairly busy for a weekday but they were able to sit me quickly. Very friendly waiter and he even allowed me to substitute sweet potato fries for the potatoes. The portion was plenty, and an absolutely delicious combination of flavors. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice (or semi-casual) dinner / happy hour in Eugene!

I live in the Cal Young neighborhood and this is one of my favorite "go to" restaurants. The food is exceptional! Another aside is they play great music! The staff is attentive, but not to the point of distraction. I usually go with my son and his fiance and we share appetizers, then order our own entrees. The salmon dinner is amazing, cooked perfectly with a crispy glaze outside. The menu changes periodically. If they're on the menu, try the fried oysters appetizer or the fries and the pesto chicken sandwich is also yummy. You won't be disappointed!

I want to like this place so much with the ambience and atmosphere. Unfortunately my experience hasn't been that. Each time I visit I try for something new hoping that I can cling onto it and say oh yea, this is what the do amazing however I've been let down more than anything else. I finally thought to myself hey if they really want to highlight the mac and cheese as an entree I'll give it a whirl. While I'm sure 8 year old me would have been stoked, however 30 year old me knows better. The flavor was hallow, and the noodles way over cooked. I got through a quarter of it before I decided it's not worth it, at a basic mac being $14. Really everything on there menu is ridiculously over priced for a cafe. Will most definitely be skipping this place in the future.

This is one of my favorite places in Eugene. I was very sad that they stopped serving brunch because it was head and shoulders above anything else I've had in town. If they were still doing brunch, I would provide 5 stars, but it was their star meal! However, their other service had good items as well. I find their salads to be super yummy. I like the pulled pork (whether it be in nachos, or on a sandwich). My husband LOVES the meatloaf sandwich. Their mac n cheese is usually super yummy! They have a good bar and make some decent drinks, and will accommodate your ideas on drinks. (or at least they have for me before). I'm not a fan of their french fries, it's a personal preference. I don't like battered fries. However, their sweet potato fries are really awesome and I find them a suitable substitute. (They might be an additional charge though...if I'm remembering correctly). I haven't been a fan of their burgers or mashed potatoes either, (two of my favorite dishes elsewhere), but there are plenty of other yummy options to choose from.
