We were up in the area for our daughter's wedding and her fiance's family stayed here. What a beautiful place! Some of the wedding photos were taken here and we can't wait to see them. Everyone that I spoke to that stayed here loved it.

It is a very interesting place, and maybe if I was there during summer my experience would be different, but the place is pretty old, it was built in 1916. It was pretty cold outside and the heating system in the building is not really properly designed, it is extremely hot on the second floor where all the bedrooms are and it is cold on the first floor where you spend the majority of your time. There is also something wrong with the gas pressure because that expensive stove they have is barely running, it was very hard to cook any food. We couldn't really take the shower in our master bedroom because there was really no water pressure in that shower and we had some kind of flying bugs in the shower as well.Maybe this is a really good place to host an event, but not really staying there, I am not sure, but I don't think I will be staying there anytime soon.

This is an incredible mansion owned originally by the Johnson & Johnson family as a summer home.

A beautiful spot for pictures and other scenic activities but the bathroom facilities are too limited for any kind of public event. Others commented on the fact that no disposable towels were available in either rest room. It's bad idea to have more than one person use regular linens for repeated washings. There's also no lighting in the treacherous walkway to the parking lot. That being said, the caterer was superb and the activity rooms were very cozy and vintage. If the right people managed it, it could be spectacular!

Owners of property are very rude. My husband and I have wanting to dine here. However, after my experience on 7/31 I will not be supporting this business. I was in a wedding party and we stopped here for photos. The bride called in advance and was told to “feel free to use the property”. As we were taking pictures (not bothering anyone on the premises) the owners came out shouting profanities telling us to leave. They made a horrible impressions on the 30 people in this bridal party. Would not recommend Fern Hall Inn.

While my experience was very limited at this establishment, I was in a wedding party that had permission to take pictures just out front. Renters proceeded to berate the wedding party stating that we’re weren’t allowed to do so. Then called another couple, assuming the managers, who had much of the same veiled threats. We obliged and tried to diffuse the situation but if anyone is looking to patronize this business I’d think again.

We were in a wedding party and scheduled with management to take photos here and they literally came out cursing and filming, telling us to get the F out and have a nice life. Violently rude. I can’t imagine what would make them speak to a literal limo pulling up?! So odd and really just classless, no one even asked or confirmed if we had called ahead, the bride also offered to pay but it was rented out. Wouldn’t recommend anyone deal with this place. Also pretty dingy looking up close.

One of our favorite places to visit. A large, stone, manor house that makes me want to stand up straighter and spend time in each room. The view from the back of the house is stunning and the deck of the boathouse is a delightful place to spend an afternoon and the working merino sheep farm almost takes you back in time. The owners have put a lot into restoring the estate house and making it more comfortable. The bed we had could not have been more comfortable and the bed clothing was positively luxurious. We are looking for our next excuse to make the ten-hour drive to stay there!
