I needed a document notarized and could not get it done at my branch. Free notary service is one of the perks of your local bank and I could not get that done. The notary at the branch was "uncomfortable" notarizing power of attorney. I was taken aback as this is a pretty standard document between family caregiver and elderly family member. How else would I see to her financial needs for care expenses and burial when that time came? Just to give a little background, I recently brought my 92 year old mother to live with me. She needs 24 hour care and her only other option was a nursing home where she would most certainly die within weeks as she was so extremely sad to not be with family during the final years of her life. I am a homeowner close to my bank branch and I even worked at the bank briefly the previous year. I could never have been hired there if I had not passed a vigorous background and credit check. I only worked there briefly because they could not accommodate my disability adequately and my health deteriorated. (I had no issues at the training center or at the branch where I trained, but my local branch was unable to provide more than a stool.) Still, I did not hold this against them and continued my banking relationship. I just opened an account for my mother there. Getting out is very difficult for me and my mother without my husband's help and it is also physically stressful on my mother. I will be moving my account ASAP, but will leave my mother's for the time being because I don't want to put her through that again. Now I need another document notarized and I am afraid to even go there again, so I will have to pay for the service elsewhere. It's amazing how one small, but extremely important issue, can totally sour one on the total banking experience. The latest issue with this bank...my mother's debit card was frozen. We called the bank and they said they believed someone else was using her card and went into detail how she can't let her daughter (me) use her card because that is fraud. I asked how they came to the conclusion that someone else was using her card and they had no answer. I told the woman that I am on the account as it is a joint account. This bank has caused so many problems and has taken so many liberties and made assumptions without merit. It's pretty disgusting and very l
