From start to finish, one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. As we all know, eating out during Covid, especially with temps getting colder, isn't an easy experience. I was in the area with my parents and we were calling around to a few places trying to find a place to go and feeling pretty hopeless, especially since it was peak dinner time. My dad ended up finding The Salt House on Yelp and we gave them a call and were told it's first come first serve without reservations. We decided to drive over and give it a shot. Apparently we showed up just in time because we somehow managed to snag the last table available, the guy who was waiting behind us was told about a 2 hour wait for a table because of reservations. We couldn't believe our luck.
They have set up little personal tents outside, each one with a heater and they are, for the most part, fully closed off from the other customers so it felt really safe. When we arrived, they were in the process of setting up a new tent that ended up being ours. It only had a top and no sides but we did get our own heating lamp, but we were still a little cold, not at all their fault, just what we've come to expect with outdoor dining during Covid. However, the owner and another employee quickly came over and started putting the sides on the tent for us, joking with us the entire time, even pushing the heater closer to the table, without us even having to mention that we were cold. They even brought out blankets for us to use.
Everyone was beyond friendly. From the owner, to the host, to our waitress and even the woman who cleared the tables. It is rare that I feel so well taken care of by a restaurant. The food was very delicious as well and worth coming back for but the customer service was above and beyond. On top of everything, we never once felt rushed, which I was worried we might be since we were a non-reservation table, but they never rushed us and took care of us as if we were just as important as a reservation table.
Overall such a fantastic experience and I can't wait to return (although with a reservation next time!) Amazing service, food and atmosphere. It felt incredibly safe dining there. My parents and I couldn't shut up about how great of an experience it was after we left. I highly recommend checking out this place!

The food here is next level! Besides the gorgeous 1751 atmosphere, the vibe is cozy, the staff are friendly, with fun music playing. We shared The pork dumplings, the haddock chowder, and the burger- all of which were "eyes rolling back in your head" amazing! Def make this a stop for lunch or dinner while you're in town!

We went to this restaurant on the advice of the people that ran the bed and breakfast we were staying at. We went online to try and get a reservation but they did not have any openings. We were passing by so we thought we would stop by and see if we could get a reservation for the next day. They told us that they had a table available if we thought we could be done in 2 hours right at that moment so we didn't have to wait until the next day. That was more than enough time for us to have dinner. The area we sat in had low lighting and was mostly candlelight. Our table was next to the fireplace. I love a good cheeseburger cooked medium. This place had the most amazing cheeseburger I have ever had and even though they were super busy the burger was actually cooked medium!!! Most places overcook the burgers but this one was perfect! I can't remember if the fries were hand cut but they were made in house and addicting! I would highly recommend this place but definitely make a reservation.

Honestly delicious. Could be the best cheeseburger I have ever eaten and definitely best mussels. Service was Superb and little cabanas with heaters provided an intimate setting to enjoy drinks and dinner. Will definitely be back again. Try everything, worth it.

Charming inside. The food was fantastic. There are choices for plant based diners. The cocktails were disappointing , especially for the price charged. To us, the flavors were odd or the drink was not strong enough. So we went to wine , which we enjoyed better. The waitress was ok.The food was not only fantastic, but it was piping hot when brought to the table.

A great spot in New Hope, wonderful food, great staff a gem.

Lovely locale, doing an outstanding job keeping diners safely distanced. I was not too hungry so ordered the red and yellow beet salad and was surprised by the huge portion of beets that arrived. It was literally a bowl of beets cut in large chunks with a glob of creme fraiche on the side. The presentation was not what I was expecting; usually a beet salad features a few thin slices of beet artfully strewn over some greens. This was more like a family-style serving. All three of us feasted on beets and still had some to take home. So the price wasn't bad, considering the quantity. My friend said her hamburger was the best she has had in New Jersey and the smoked haddock chowder got high marks as well (alas, it was not gluten free). The service was quite good.

I cannot express enough how amazing The Salt House is. Been here dozens of times and have NEVER been disappointed. ALWAYS interesting things on the menu so if you have an adventurous foodie spirit, this is a great place to eat. Always delicious, always inventive, and the cocktails are always top notch. Ask to eat upstairs if you're able!

Neighbors at New Hope Apparel just had a great dinner! Tracey, David and Allison has a delicious meal with awesome drinks. Scallops and salmon were on point and the chocolate cake dessert was decadent. Service was fabulous by Kyle and drinks were marvelous by Manny. Thanks Steve!!

The Salt House is officially in my top five (maybe even three) favorite restaurants. During COVID, the restaurant has popped up these cute, private little cabanas where you can sit with your party outside. We were lucky enough to score the Chef's Table inside, right in front of the fire. The staff was very friendly, from when I called to edit our reservation (initially made online) to tableside. The ambiance is absolutely romantic and historical, with quirky artwork and exposed wood beams. The food was not only reasonably priced, but was delicious-- some of my friends said their burger was the best they've ever had, and my scallops were delightful. They even had a ton of specialty cocktails, beers, and wines available, so everyone was able to find something to their tastes. Though we initially came to New Hope for other activities, this dinner ended up being the highlight of the day trip. I'd come back here in a heartbeat.

Such a nice find in Nee Hope! We ate inside and were one of the few tables/customers there (more people were outdoors due to expanded outdoor dining during covid). The building is historic and cozy, and the service was very friendly. We had a series of appetizers - from the clam chowder to the mussels and fries to the marinated grilled artichokes (definitely get these). They were all tasty and plenty big to fill us up. The best part of the evening was having a socially distant chat with the bartender - a jovial fellow who made good strong drinks. The experience reminded us of what dining was like pre-covid...

Great table today by the fireplace-intimate-cozy-I noticed they had little cabanas outside which were very cute. The food was really good-no bread on the table on sitting down which drives me crazy - I had to ask - I had the salmon with asparagus delicious - then dessert was again delicious bread pudding-but shock of shocks-no coffee! After the drink I had which was delicious - a French Martini - they called it a Trip to Paris - and the most delicious bread pudding for dessert - a cup of coffee would have been nice (in fact I craved it) and I will never understand the rationale of no coffee. I mean no coffee...discuss. Otherwise really really good.

A really cute romantic little pub, with fabulous drinks and food. Manny our bartender/waiter was seriously the best server I think ever for a nite out. He new I wasn't fond of the table we had. So he took it upon himself to move us to the best table next to the cozy fireplace when it became available!! No server ever has done that for us. He literally picked up our drinks and moved us! 5 stars to manny for being an exceptional server! And making out anniversary extra special. And making delicious drinks.

We stopped for a quick snack & cocktail at the Salt House during a covid-relief girls trip. While the tented seating isn't ideal, it's understandable at this time. We had the mussels and fries and goat cheese truffle honey crostini. Both entrees were delicious. The service was good, the drinks nicely prepared and the flower arrangements lovely. We look forward to returning for dinner very soon.

The food and drinks here are fantastic, but what makes this place go above and beyond is the professional, courteous, and above and beyond staff. We came on October 24, which might be the last nice Saturday before cold weather and/or impending lockdown. Several hundred people were walking the streets of New Hope. The host and our server were so sweet and welcoming that we will definitely make this our go to place when we come to New Hope.

Excellent COVID setup outside. From appetizers to Atlantic Salmon to the best bread pudding ever made. Not large portions but chef is well trained and well above average. Definitely a place to go if you appreciate quality over quantity.

Fabulous service by Marissa and a Wonderful dinner. The scallops were perfect and the chocolate flourless tort for dessert was warm with a Himalayan salt.

My husband and I took a day trip to New Hope yesterday. It was quite busy for a Wednesday because of the gorgeous October fall weather. We always come here for drinks when we often visit but decided to sit down and eat for the first time. We went in and Manny was behind the bar and explained that he was the only server on and if we were patient and gave him a few minutes, he would be more than happy to seat us. As a server once myself, I know how overwhelming it can be when you are the only one staffed and every table is filled. Manny wasn't frazzled at all. He handled everything like a champ and we even chatted for a bit once everything settled down. Great server, great food, great atmosphere. I can't say enough about our wonderful day spent here.

I had gone here for the first time a few weeks ago and we were very impressed with how they handled the whole social distancing situation.

Enjoyed dinner with friends and then lunch with a colleague. Awesome food and great atmosphere. Perfect restaurant for New Hope locals.

Lovely waitress & seating, even with Covid, you felt at home and once you got a great glass of wine and amazing food everything seemed normal again. Perfectly cooked scallops & grilled artichokes.

I can't speak highly enough of this New Hope gem that I took my wife to for her 30th birthday. We visited during COVID (October) and the outdoor setup was gorgeous and felt appropriately distanced. The pop-up tents that they provide really improve the outdoor dining experience. We had a dinner of all apps and thoroughly enjoyed every dish we had. However, my absolute favorite was the bread pudding desert which I will definitely come back to try again.

They definitely nailed the pandemic out door dining experience . Small tents lined throughout definitely made the portable restaurant outside . We started with the Brussel sprouts , grilled artichokes , bacon wrapped dates, and dumplings. The brussel sprouts were the best part of the appetizer round. The dumplings needed some punch dumpling sauce . The artichokes were just ok a bit on the chewy side . Two of us ordered the burgers and the other two ordered the chicken piccata . The burger was cooked to our linking well no pink. The chicken piccata was definitely underwhelming the portion size was small for the price point . Overall was gastro pub esque. The service was very slow . We had drinks also "mind the gap" and a standard sav blanc. Total bill was 158.00 ... 188 with gratuity. I think it was good but not 5 star good, perhaps for the area this is the best food around. I would definitely try again. This was my first time here .

Where to start!!!! I dream of the goat cheese with truffle honey, and the grilled artichokes. All of the entrees I have had have been amazing! (Sea scallops, salmon, butternut ravioli, and the short ribs specifically!!! Also a few summers ago they had a pesto pasta dish that I still think about!) next up, drinks. They have a great cocktail list, and wine menu, but they also have great bartenders. One of my favorite cocktails is an aviation, which most bartenders don't know how to make, or are their bars don't have the right ingredients. I have had some of the best aviations ever at the salt house!! Lastly, dessert. I'm one of those people who doesn't really want dessert unless it's exceptional. I really can't tell you which dessert at the salt house I like better, the chocolate torte or the bread pudding. SERIOUSLY, leave room for dessert! I really don't know how on earth the small kitchen at the salt house puts out the amazing food they do! Fair warning, make a reservation because this adorable restaurant is small. But, if you're lucky a seat at the bar is always a good choice! Also, the bathrooms are down a rather tight staircase.

A MUST VISIT!!! Impeccable dining experience from start to finish. We're visiting from Florida and are spending our days exploring the countryside outside of Philadelphia so we stopped into New Hope for some antiquing today. We started to get hungry and settled upon The Salt House for a leisurely lunch and we were not disappointed, even remarking at the end of the meal that it was one of the very best we've ever had and the chef definitely deserves high praise! We started with some refreshing cocktails and then had the Truffled honey and goat cheese crostini and this was AMAZING!! Truffle honey is such a treat and this appetizer hit the spot. Next we had the Smoked Haddock Chowder and, again, a 5 star appetizer perfect for a crisp fall day. We finished with the Seared Salmon on a fennel salad and it was wonderful as well. I also so appreciated the kindness of the staff, as our waitress was so sweet and attentive through the meal and she made the experience even better. Lastly, I really appreciated the efforts the restaurant made to stay safe during COVID (creating tented bays to separate the tables and outdoor seating only) and honestly it made the experience even better because we could breathe a bit easier and really enjoy!! Highly recommend!!!!!!

Came to New Hope, PA for a mini Romantic trip to getaway for a bit. We went here for dinner. The addition of the tents outside are really romantic and intimate at night! The service was good but the food was just ok. Our appetizers were actually better than our entrees. We ordered oysters and artichoke with dipping sauce for apps. Our entrees..he got the scallops, which he said were ok and needed salt and I got the fennel salad and added the salmon. I am so glad I added salmon because how could a fennel salad be the ENTREE?? It was literally ALL SHAVED FENNEL & CELERY. I thought it would be a hearty mixed green salad with shaved fennel & celery but nope... all fennel and celery with (again) no salt, light on the oil and lots of lemon juice! I had to ask for olive oil & salt. Salmon wasn't bad though. How can a place called "The Salt House" not salt their food? Lol then the dessert...not many options for us to choose but the one that seemed like we would eat was the butterscotch bread pudding, which wasn't bad but l chewed on some egg shells, so that was off putting:-/. I hate to say we did not enjoy our entrees, l was really disappointed in my fennel salad. I would hope they rethink leaving that dish on their menu. Cute outdoor seating though.

Excellent. 9ne of the best in the area. A true dining experience. Make sure you order the pecan bread pudding dessert when you sit down, or sells out fast and it's worth the drive alone. The staff is attentive and very accommodating and enhance the dining experience yet they are spiced reasonably. Their seaford is well chosen and prepared. Love the oysters. Love this place.

Good food, good waitstaff. they did a great job giving the feel of a nice romantic dinner spot with drapery and candles so you didnt feel like you were forced into outside dining due to covid. still felt like restaurant experience.
