I'll only be going to Garrison's in the future! John was so kind and helpful. He not only helped with my car, but sat me down and gave me an educational experience so I would know what to look out for next time. Not knowing a lot about cars, I often feel mechanics are trying to take advantage of me, but not John! So grateful for him for making time for me this morning and that I know where to go now!

I came here after my last mechanic retired and he referred me to Garrison's. I couldn't ask for a more friendly and affordable place to go.

There is not many kind people in the world anymore, but a few do exist here at this garage. I walked in today with car issues and even though he did not have time to take a look he listened to my story and asked me to explain the problem, told me it was a easy fix and gave me all the tools I needed to replace the fuse in the fuse box. In 5 min car was back to new. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, most garages don’t know an ounce of customer service. Go here if you want to be taken care of

Garrison' Garage is one of the best autoshops I have been to. I find them to be straightforward and trustworthy. They do not tack on extra services to pad the bill and are up front about what they did, why, and what they recommend. Only caution is to plan ahead because they are often quite busy, which speaks to the satisfaction of return customers.Services: General repairs & maintenance

Garrison's is everything you want in an auto shop, polite, friendly, and provide exceptional service. It's that neighborhood shop you always wish you had. They give honest estimates, and point you in the right direction if they for some reason can't help.Services: General repairs & maintenance

Garrison's Garage is the Philadelphia Parking Authority of garages. I mean this as a warning. Interpret it however you want to though.***Update #1***Hey Brian, thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to reply. You made it quite clear that your time is more valuable than anyone else's. Unfortunately you left out a few key details, like when you told me you could remove my wheels but it would cost me $100.00/hr and that it would take a long time. And then you refused to answer any of my follow up questions like "will that damage my wheel locks? You then said you'd call me back and abruptly hung up. Well, I never got that call back. An hour later I got a text saying the work was complete and I needed to pick up my car by 4pm. What work was complete? My full inspection? Just the emissions? I had no idea because communication isn't one of your strong suits. I called back and spoke to Barbara. She stated that I told you not to remove the wheel locks even though you said you'd do it for free because I said it would cause damage. That is 100% not true. You reversed the facts. You never offered to do anything for free and I told you it's ok if you damage them because I have the original lug nuts and can just go buy new locks later in the day.I then asked to speak with you regarding my brakes that you said looked thin. I wanted to know what the state regulations were regarding this and you said call the state because you didn't have time to answer my questions and once again abruptly hung up. The state didn't have my car. You did. So I called back once more. When you got on the line, you launched into this tirade about how I'm wasting your time and that you had more important people to deal with and that if I asked anymore questions you were going to start charging me $25.00/ question. I'm sorry but since when is asking questions against the rules? Maybe you didn't know the answers. Maybe you should hire someone like Mona Lisa Vito who can actually explain the work that needs to be done to a customer instead of just hanging up on them. Or maybe you just don't know how to talk to people and need to hire a designated speaker like The Metatron in the movie Dogma. Also, I didn't wait until my inspection was three weeks expired on purpose. If you recall, I told you I had a much earlier appointment, but my tail light housing was shattered in a target parking lot by a rogue cart and because everything sucks right now the replacement part took a month to arrive and my car would have failed inspection without it. On and for the record it's LOSE a business license over. For example, I didn't LOSE the key to my wheel lock. I bought this car used and it didn't come with the car. Loose is what you offered to do to my wheel locks for $100/hr which I never said no to.***Update #2***Sorry Brian but you never offered anything for free. You 100% told me verbatim: "I can remove your wheel locks without a key, but it will take a while and I'm going to charge you for the time" I didn't meet this "altruistic Brian", I met the " Ineed to make a profit for my time Brian" which again I never said no to. I own a small business. I don't work for free and don't expect that from other business owners either. You just refused to answer any of the questions I had making it impossible for me to both understand what you wanted to do with my car and to agree to have you further service my car. Maybe you're a stand up guy to the majority of your customers as most of your reviews reflect but you were impatient, vague and disrespectful when dealing with me. Oh and what do you mean by not charging me? I was charged and paid for my service yesterday. I've got receipts! It's funny how you have plenty of time to respond to yelp comments in the middle of the day but when it comes to answering questions directly to a customer that's way too much to ask. and regarding your spelling, ur welcum!

There aren't enough words to describe how superior this shop is. Top notch diagnostic skills and workmanship, and their integrity and honesty are unmatched. They do not upsell and take advantage. They are clear in describing car issues and the cost effectiveness of doing certain work -- that is, whether it's worth it in light of the car's value and age.I had to agree with their recommendation against some very expensive repairs on my old car (annoying noise, but not a safety issue). Despite this, their mechanics did *something*, 'not sure what, that seems to have stopped the noise. They didn't charge.I am enormously grateful to have found such a trustworthy garage populated by very talented and really nice folks.Services: General repairs & maintenance

The guys at Garrison's are great, stand-up human beings that recommend repairs based on what they feel is the right solution instead of what would make them the most money. Recently took my car to Garrison's for a water pump replacement and the one mechanic (I assume the owner) walked out to my car to give his thoughts before even taking my information. He agreed with the assessment and I handed over my keys. He was able to get me in the same day and quoted me $750. I previously went to Pep Boys and they quoted me over $1300! Such a rip-off. Great service and even better people at Garrison's!

Glenn was super helpful. He got me in for a last minute inspection and did a great job explaining to me what issues I should look out for in the coming year or two. He also saved me from spending unnecessary money at another place. We will definitely be back and glad to have a great neighborhood shop.Service: Vehicle safety inspection

Accepted the car for work they couldn't do, attempted to farm out work, charged when declined additional work. Bad people.

Rude, defensive, unprofessional and incompetent. Sent me on my way after passing inspection a week before with bad brakes that were about to fail and refused to take a second look at them. Totally disgusting people who are very nice to you until you raise any kind of concern or complaint. They should not be allowed to inspect automobiles.

I’ve always had a great experience here. The staff is very friendly and they provide quality work at a fair price. They’re efficient at scheduling you in, giving text updates, and getting the work done in a timely manner. They were very helpful when my catalytic converter was stolen and helped guide me through the process with the police and my insurance to have it taken care of. I’ve used other shops in the area and Garrison’s is definitely the best. I’ll be taking my car back to them for any future auto repair needs.Services: Vehicle Inspection

I never write reviews, but Garrisons is well worth it. The folks at Garrisons are truly a gem of the Fishtown neighborhood. I will ONLY go to them for all of my servicing and repairs - nowhere else is even comparable to the top-notch customer experience they provide. They are extremely knowledgeable, fairly priced, and always have your best interests in mind. Not to mention they are some of the kindest and most genuinely friendly individuals in the neighborhood. Ive never had a single bad interaction with all of their staff. One time my light was on to get my oil changed but I had just had it changed a couple weeks prior at a Firestone. I called Garrisons to see why it was on and if I could schedule a time to bring it in. They told me to come down right then and there and even showed me how to fix it myself in the future. I 10/10 recommend Garrisons!!!Services: Oil change

Been taking my car for inspections since 2018. Friendly, efficient, reliable service. Book in advance since they have a long queue!
