This was our first visit here and we'll be back. As with other Newport Restaurants Group restaurants from the staff to the food is consistently phenomenal. Then you add waterfront dining, beautiful!

Best Pan Roasted Cod I ever had. Always a good seafood experience here!
March 2024
One of the best fish sandwiches that I have ever had, my favorite RI beer on tap, accommodating host that helped us grab seats at the bar, and a super friendly bartender to take care of us and chat with us some.
At the Boat House, we proudly celebrate coastal New England’s natural abundance: fresh seafood, local produce and pastoral and nautical charms.
Residing on a bluff over the foot of Mt. Hope Bay, the restaurant beckons guests to relax and soak in our panoramic, award-winning bayside views.

Cuisines: Seafood
Set on the shore of Mount Hope Bay, the Boat House is handsome inside and out: nautical lanterns and spinning fans dangle from white, raftered ceilings, and beadboard walls are hung with vintage fishing posters and gear. Meals start with crusty bread kept warm in a small paper bag; a clever cocktail list includes winners like the Bourbon Bramble (Buffalo Trace, elderflower liqueur, crème de cassis). Chowder is a popular starter, but the braised short rib and mussels are more intriguing options. The rib meat is a bit dry but redeemed by a creamy potato purée and crunchy parsnips, while the mussels are unimpeachable, with a garlic, white wine, parsley and butter broth you'll want to slurp from the bowl. After hot towels, it's time for the main course, and the seafood side of the menu lures our focus. Seafood scampi is served piping hot, with poached lobster, shrimp and scallops piled atop firm parsley linguine tossed with oven-dried tomatoes in a delicate garlic-butter sauce. Pan-seared scallops are presented on a bed of seaweed and brilliant red beet risotto with goat cheese, with pomegranate gastrique for dredging. Sail to the end of a meal by savoring the intensely flavored Madagascar vanilla and Belgian chocolate gelato.
