Writing this to help the community to take out the trash at John's island post office. I was a victim of mail theft locally and have been verbally harassed by a female carrier who I've also witnessed vaping on the job putting people at risk if she is vaping illegalsubstances. And based on other reviews I am seeing here that are similar. Please be aware that the only resolution is to band together and write to congress about what is happening here in our community, and to flood the emails of the Postal Master General office at Washington DC headquarters and most importantly email email your missing packages and mail that you knowaren't missing but stolen to the Oig postal service hotline nothing will get resolved by the SC postal corporate office in Columbia. I was told by a member of management at SC postal headquarters that no one monitors these reviews because they can't prove that all of us who are victims are real or even credible!!! Do not put with the generic emails you get from the post master and his supervisor. They brushed my actual stolen mail off as sloppy mail service that was probably accidentally put in another residents mailbox and that was probably just thrown away. Do not waste your time with the postal inspector they are corrupt like the postal workers. Know the differences between the offices. The Oig postal services is a Federal law enforcement agency that is separate from the Postal service and postal inspector offices. The postal inspector office will brush your complaints off because they are in the business of protecting their own. Know the truth that my complaints were brushed off for weeks by post master at John's island and the postal inspector and was only investigated by the Oig...this speaks volumes the same information sent to postal services who are supposed to be protecting our mail and inspector services don't operate with the same integrity and lawfully as the Oig hotline and agents.

Theft of Packages by postal employees unloading containers is real.

EVERY single time I come in here there is a line wrapping the service area - why don’t they get a shipping machine and have a staff member just do passports twice a week with a dedicated person who is not running the service area. It is so frustrating sadly I will have to drive another 15 mins to a better staffed post office to ship my pkgs this line will take an hour! The staff is always kind but they need HELP!

These people work there butts off all day and every day to get us our mail. They are short staffed in regard to the amount of mail they have to move, especially during holidays. It’s a stressful job and they take pride in their work and do it with kindness. I don’t agree with all of the negative reviews on here. Thank you

What post office takes lunch in the middle of the day when most people want to frequent a post office? New here and never experienced a post office with limited hours. You're never open!

Wow. I thought my case was an anomaly but then I saw the numerous negative reviews. I also seem to be unable to get anyone to answer the phone or even a suggestion on how to proceed through their recording. I have a package that was "disposed" as undeliverable or returnable, yet I have a forwarding order in place. So I'm left with no product I paid for, no resolution process, no answers, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Sad what the USPS has become.

I give this post office a two because the staff are pleasant to deal with. Other than that, there's nothing I can say that is positive. Here are four examples why I rate it so low:I received a Christmas card that was postmarked December 18th on December 29th.I sent a birthday card two weeks before the birthday date. It got to the recipient five days after his birthday.I walked into the post office on a Tuesday at 11:30. There were seven people waiting in line while two people were serviced. One of the staff was working with a family on issuing passports. The other staff member was taking care of the customers in line. I was in there for a half hour. If they continue to be this short staffed, the passports should only be done on certain days of the week at specific times. That was just ridiculous. This post office cannot handle the number of people on the island. Maybe 15 years ago they could but not now.

I can't understand why the mail on backpen is not getting to us until 7 or 8and our packages are being put everywhere we never had this problem before it's extremely stressful when they are delivering so late

This post office literally makes living on this island an absolute hell. If you have a friend that lives close or family, just use their address these people never deliver my packages to the right place, worst part is I'm writing this at Christmas time. Why have all of my packages gone "missing"?! I literally work in package delivery and I'm able to do my job correctly during peak season, what's yalls excuse?!?!?! Get it together!!!!!

Just moved here from NY.Have been in this post office several times now,- understaffed, only 1 person seems to know what’s happening & he is not friendly at all and very short on patience- other staff keep having to ask him protocol.I have been “ active” on my PO Box forwarding from NY since July 10,2023, and even though I am getting informed delivery messages, still have not gotten any mail as of 8/9/23- JI- Post office can’t “find” me in the system or my mail…..,not a good way to start.

I work for habitat for humanity and we were going down a road slowly to avoid low tree limbs. One of your mail delivery drivers passed us hauling butt and screamed profanity as us for being cautious. May need to teach your drivers respect before they do it to the wrong person

The delivery drivers are either incompetent or lazy and won’t drive packages to our house but will instead leave “cant deliver” slips in our mailbox. And then you’re stuck going to the office to deal with the 1, sometimes 2 people who work the counter. And don’t try and make the 1-hour window that they’re open on Saturday. For an island with this many resident’s it’s embarrassing how inefficient and lackluster the postal service and office is.

Can’t find our address for a package despite having delivered mail to us for a month. Refuse to recognize the correct spelling of our street despite the street sign. Don’t answer phones and have voicemail turned off. Open only 1 hour on the weekends. I’m getting a PO Box in another city so I can reliably get mail.

Unbelievable service! Staying on Kiawah Island on vacation and needed a battery charger. Ordered one from Amazon thinking they'd bring it to the door. Instead they delivered it to a parcel locker that I don't have access to with the condo we're staying in. Went to the post office yesterday to ask if there was a way to retrieve it. They took my name and number and I figured that would be the end of it and I'd just have to order another when I got home. The post office called this morning and told me they'd leave the locker open so I could get it . That was nice enough, but went to look for it and they'd actually brought it to the door of the condo! Really appreciate them going above and beyond like that!!!

I have been calling this post office for weeks and have yet to have a single person pick up. I don’t live in town and can’t go in directly. I understand places can be busy, but to not be able to pick up a single call for weeks?! Aslo, just read other reviews, and yep, mine is also about a missing package.
