I’ve rented from budget twice in the past 2 months due to my car being in the shop. The first car I rented in December was a little dirty, but ran well so I overlooked it. I gave a decent review and regret it.The second vehicle I rented this week is filthy and smells. It is covered in dog hair, dirt/grime on the steering wheel, cup holders, and gear shift. These I can clean myself and overlook (though I shouldn’t have to). What disgusts me is the smell. I think it was smoked in previously (smells of urban skunk if you catch my drift) and you can clearly smell uriune in the trunk. Within 30 minutes of leaving the lot I went back and nicely asked to swap cars. I explained the dirtiness and smell. They had plenty of other vehicles on the lot, even one more of the exact same make & model of my rental. I was told no they have no cars to swap out and argued with about whether or not the car was clean. He did finally come look at it and admitted it must have slipped past him and not been cleaned. I was told I’d get “some” money off and he went inside. Didn’t get my name or anything. I called corporate who offered 3 days free on my next rental, which I refused because I will never rent from budget again. Instead I was told I’d get 1 free day on my current stinky/dirty rental. Gee thanks. Checked my account and they have billed me for the full weeks rental, no credit in sight. This company obviously doesn’t appreciate customer satisfaction and I will never rent from them again.

I have to give this a one star only because it will not allow me to select no stars. The SUV I rented needed an oil change in the middle of our trip. I called Budget customer service, told the guy about the notification, and he advised me to go to the nearest Budget to us in Orlando. We did- they were completely out of vehicles, checked with other local Budgets and let me know the only one with any available was at the Orlando airport. We drive over to the airport, costing additional toll fees along the way, finally get the car checked in. We unload all of our luggage, another $21 in luggage cart fees, with my 2 children and mother while I wait in the very long line at the rental counter. After 4 hours, I was told the only available vehicle is a truck. Since we have no other option, we take it. However, we have to put all of the luggage in the cab with the 4 of us due to now way of securing it in the bed. We drove about an hour, uncomfortably, and are staying the night and try to find another vehicle to switch as the current truck and luggage situation is neither a comfortable nor safe ride for my children in the back seat for our 10 hour ride back home. And to top all of that off, after exchanging the vehicles, I received a final receipt showing that I would owe a $300 fee for returning the suv to a different location and $65 fee for less gas. Both of those caused by the fact I had to return the vehicle prematurely by fault of the vehicle given to me by Budget needing to be serviced. I called Budget customer service again- to be told the first time the best that could be done was take $150 off of the one way fee penalty. I explained that was not going to work and unacceptable given these circumstances, forwarded to a supervisor that finally did agree to remove the fees. However, at this point, we have lost an entire day of and added additional expenses to our vacation dealing with this mess.

Rick and Wynna at the 8014 Kingston Pike Knoxville location were absolutely amazing! GREAT customer service, friendly and very easy process! Not too mention, I got a sweet deal on a pickup truck! Thank you Rick and Wynna!

We picked up a "luxury" car at the Knoxville airport after standing in line for over an hour (note there were only 4 customers in front of us but as the hour went by, there were probably 20 customers behind us) due to budget not having enough employees working. After leaving the airport area, we immediately noticed a foul stench of stale cigarettes and vomit. As we had family waiting for us to arrive, we had no time to return to the airport Budget to exchange the car. We called this Knoxville location 10+ times yesterday, however no one answered the phone. Today, as we were leaving Knoxville to drive to Bristol, we went to this location to exchange the car. The lone male employee working the counter advised they had no cars to exchange this vomit trap for. I did not get his name however, he looked like Santa Claus ,wearing an orange University of TN pullover. As we explained the car was making us physically ill, he became rude and said I've told you 3 times we have no cars to exchange, despite the parking lot being jammed full of luxury vehicles. He said "go back to the airport". I would ride a bicycle before I would rent a car from this man. Budget should be ashamed to rent a filthy, disgusting car such as what they gave us. Santa should be reprimanded for being so insensitive and RUDE. Stay away from Budget and definitely this location.

AWFUL. Budget as a whole has completely ruined my vacation. Drove to pick up my car (this is my second reservation as my one yesterday was ALSO cancelled due to no cars) and get a call as I’m 5 min away that they are out of cars. I ask what the point of a reservation is and what I’m supposed to do now, and he was incredibly condescending and unhelpful. Said that it’s fall break. why do you think we are going on vacation? If they know that why don’t they have more cars ready? I am a 32 year old woman and he called me “kiddo”. Will never rent from Budget again.

Budget makes it easy to reserve a rental online. Staff were friendly and helpful both picking up and dropping off. The rates were very good as well.

Waited 2 hours to get car and we were prechecked. Worst service ever. Never choose budget, Payless or Avis all same company. Will never use again.

Prices for rental cars keep going up. For my money, Budget has best value rentals. Good customer service.

Don't bother making a reservation. They don't know how to hold it and they wait until they are closed to call and tell you your reservation doesn't have a car available to you for the next morning. Unprofessional. Rude. Waste of time.

Has a reservation to pick up a car at 9:00 AM. Rick calls me 30 minutes before to inform no cars are available. Says they overbook "all the time." Oh, and he can't cancel my prepaid reservation, but here's an 800 number that you can fight through Budget's electronic tree to get to a human.

I rented a truck in Knoxville Tn on 08/30, prepaid online. when I got there they made me pay an additional 250.00 until I brought it back but won't get that money back for up to 10 days. I didn't have a ride the following day to go drop it off and that location on Kingston Pike didn't allow you to drop it off after hours. so I talked to them and they advised I could drop it off at McGhee Tyson Airport just a few minutes away and they stayed open until midnight. so I took it and dropped it off the same day as I rented it before midnight. when I woke I received an email showing my receipt for rental. I noticed it was 100.00 more than it should be. So I called customer service and they advised that they charged me 100.00 for dropping it off at a different location even though that location I rented it from doesn't have after hours drop off. Never rent from Budget rental in Knoxville on Kingston Pike or any other location.

Would have given zero stars, but that is not offered. Reserved a car, received all sorts of emails for it reminding me to keep my appointment time for pick up and when we got there, the associate scanned my reservation number and said they had no cars available at all. Isn't a reservation meant to hold a car for you? Maybe I'm confused but after driving over an hour to get to the Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee location, this is what we got. I even received a text the morning of my reservation that the car was ready. I am extremely dissatisfied withBudget/Avis car rental. I will be talking about this to everyone I know and telling them to do exactly what I am going to do, go to Enterprise car rentals.
