Lots of inexpensive items
December 2019 by Robert S.
I usually end up buying more than I intended when I shop here because there's always some irresistible deals. Some items, like $.99 canned goods, are comparable to regular grocery stores. But, they do have lots of items that are almost 1/2 off or more than what you'd pay elsewhere. The one thing to look out for are the expiration dates on perishable items and recalled items that may still be on display (see photo). But, if you don't mind freezing those perishable items that you can, you'll get some great bargains here. The parking lot is usually dirty, but the store itself is generally clean.

I love the 99 but they need more employees it takes forever for you to check out even if you only have 2 or 3 things. I wish that they would stock up on more items because when I go in there it seems like they are always out of what I need.

I enjoy my frequents trips to the 99 Cents store, especially for the produce. Lots of surprises, bargains, decent quality, and great prices. My only problem with this store (Prater/McCarran, Sparks, NV), is the lack of shopping baskets at the door. They are always scattered all over the parking lot!

Talk about corporate STUPIDITY! This chain had the best shopping bag known to mankind for years. It was a large bright orange fruit-scene shopping bag that lasted forever. It sold for a mere one dollar until recently when these fools stopped selling them. They now sell for one dollar bags half the size which are badly constructed. You can barely load them with much of anything before the handles tear off. They are simply cheap bags. This store needs to bring back their stellar bags even if they need to charge more for them. Since they last forever I will gladly even pay $1.50 or even $2 for them. Then all this week the only bags they had at each check-out were bags with a picture of the DEATH SAINT on them. Bad timing 99 Cents Only store considering all the mass killings in this country the last week. Do you really think bags with the Death Saint on them is what I want to see at this time?

Was told that everything in a 50% off section was not 50% off. I took photos of the section and was still told the signs were not for the items on the shelves.

I"M SO MAD THAT THERE R No 99 cent only store in Hillsboro,OR, I'm so upset its not fair that all other states have that store besde a very bad state. It sucks alot we want to share the experience in Oregon its a big place to live and shop and I truely beleive it would make good money out also. Yesterday was my first 99 cents only experience and I was so pleasantly surprised. The store is pretty large and has everything from cleaning products, healthy and beauty supplies, fresh produce, home decor, and so much more. I saved a lot of money shopping for party supplies here and was surprised by the quality that they offered. Some parts of the store could be cleaner but overall it was a place worth checking out that is guaranteed to save you some cash.

Good bargains with interesting finds, vegan, gluten-free foods, wine, housewares, cosmetics, and other items. Bargains on hard to find items, like hearts of palm. Good for one-stop shopping.

I like this place more than I can publicly should admit ;) Prices and the deals are really competitive and surprising, also of course of good quality. In terms of quantity, is obvious that the less the cheaper. The outside of the store makes you wonder if you should get out of your car in the first place, but I cannot help it but notice vehicles such as Mercedes and all sorts of luxury cars parked there. A visit is worth whether you are under a budget or not. Try it!

A great place to pick up those little things that you can always use or need. For only 99 cents!

I used to love this store when first started they had pretty good deals but now lots of things have changed. Lots of stuff you can get cheaper at other stores some time. So be careful when you shop, they don't even mark some time and charge you 2bucks instead of a dollar.

I was totally blown away at the selection of just about everything. This store is very clean and pleasing to the eye. They even offer fresh vegetables. I've never seen another 99 cents store that come close in comparison to this one. It is no where near close to my home, but I will gladly make the trip to shop at this location. Other stores should follow suit. By the way Precious is awesome!

Usually I love coming here to shop. Last Saturday the guy cashier was so rude. I was checking my total to make sure it was comfortable for me. He looks at me & rudely says "you can put your bags in the cart now". I told him ok sir I was only watching my prices. I was a cashier for years & it's a way to talk to people.

Omg they have everything for 99 cents! I can go there to find all the great buys from the following brands Oscar Myer Turkey Bacon, Morning Star, Boca, fresh fruit, Simply Orange Juice, veggies and the list goes on! Not to mention you can get household products, Scott tissue and so much more. At this point I'm sure you get the picture so go get you some great products at a great price :) Oh yea! It's also nice and clean with courteous employees.

I have been to this store several times over the years, looking for this and that, and it has always been clean, with a surprising selection of expected and unexpected items. On my latest visit, I was fascinated that it had been rearranged like a grocery store, complete with refrigerators and a fair selection of fresh produce. I am impressed- best dollar store ever!

Good prices some hidden gems i could very easily spend $100 in here lol the one thing i dont like about the store is theres so many people the lines are packed and theres on like 2 or 3 cashiers open besides that i love it but i hope the 99 cent only store does something about this issue i have decided a few times not to go in there because of the fear of the line im a busy peraon like most people time is not always on my side

Love this store. Cashier's are usually very polite however, some customers are extremely rude. I was in line with mydaughter, (there's always lines behind 2 people. I saw chips 5 feet away, so I left cart in line and walked over, still viewing my daughter in clear sight, and grabbed two bags of chips, u was gone for less than 20 seconds yet in that time, this older obese white woman pushed my daughter and cart behind her and cut me in line. Mind you, the two people in front of me still hasn't finished nor had the line moved to where it would warrant the need for the next customer to start checking out. We didn't move, and I was five feet away. Gone for seconds.so I confronted this rude wOman and asked what the heck she was doing touching my cart, with my two year old sorting in it and my purse, and she screamed at me claiming I should step out of line if i was still shopping. I told her to get back behind me, and showed her I was literally in reaching distance of my cart from where the chips were.
She was a miserable and disgusting person and unfortunately, not the worst of vile patrons of this store.
However, I suppose its the norm for discount stores. These type of people with no manners, concept od personal space or decency, always frequent places like this store. So make sure to watch your purse, lock your car, and come fully prepared to finish shopping at the exact moment that the entire store is ready to check out. I swear I'm cursed because when I walk in there's never any lines but like clockwork once .I'm finished, every single line open has 5 people monomum in it.
My other MajOR complaint is their new cart policy. You have to put a quarter in just to use a stupid cart. It's a huge pain in the ass. Especially for parents, because I rarely have cash on me. I really hate this policy and find i asinine and unnecessary. Especially since they usually don't have baskets.if you don't have change
They desperately need to.stop this policy and start respecting customers enough to probide FREE carts. Chasing a two year old around while attempting to carry all my groceries inu hands is enough to make me stop coming here. And if I don't have change, I've just left sometimes and gone elsewhere. This policy is costing them customers and losing them business. I've spoken to many people who cut out shopping here all together because of this.
Aside from. Occasional Creepy customers and rude people, and the ridiculous cart fee, i love this store but they desperately in need to end the cart fee. I love this store.

Loved the selection. Not all things are 99 cents, but the values are great anyway. I will go back.
