I have been going to the Garland location for a while and finally had the chance to try this one. I was pleasantly impressed with their similarities in service and quality of food. During the COVID-19, they have still managed to have a great menu selection. Their margaritas were delicious and the food was just as good as their Garland location serves. I lover the location too and wish I lived closer.

Tried Matt's for the first time via Postmates! I live in downtown and just haven't found my Mexican go to since moving to the area during the pandemic. The food was great and packaged well upon arrival. The portions were generous and tasty. I had the Tex-Mex Burrito, Guacamole and stuffed jalapeños! As a side note, they have really great ranch dressing, too! I'll definitely be ordering again soon! Thanks, Matt's!

We Love Matt's. We Are Addicted To The Spicy Shrimp Cocktails. Excellent Margaritas As Well. The Service Is Outstanding. Can't Wait To Go Back!

I heard about this place from a friend of mine and did not disappoint. My server Gloria was very sweet and gave me great service. I will definitely come back.

Enjoyed our meal today. Bob Armstrong dip was very good. Our enchilada entrees were great as well. Our server Aurilio was friendly and professional. We recommend Matt's El Rancho.

I live around the corner and will never be back. The chips were okay (too thick, no salt). The salsa was good (good flavor). The margaritas were good. The taco plate I ordered was absolutely terrible. The rice and beans were subpar and over salted/flavorless.The biggest issue was the tacos - they used *TWO* taco shells for *EACH* taco. (???) Who does that? The tacos only tasted like overly greasy taco shells, nothing else. There were three tacos - I could only force one taco down, and let them throw away the other two. You'd think a place that has been around for ages could actually make a decent hard shell taco, but they can't. If they can't do tacos, could they actually do any other food right?

Long time customer who just recently "rediscovered" this gem. It had been a while since we've been as we have a good selection of tex-mex closer to home, but this place is absolutely worth a longer drive. Must start with the Bob Armstrong dip. Years ago was an off- menu secret, but good to see it on the menu so everyone can find it. Really great tex-mex and, while not an item for me, my wife swears they have the best Chile relleño on earth (ask for extra raisins). Something about the cheeses they use make many of the tex-mex items stand out. Even a dish as seemingly mundane like quesadillas with fajita meat are better than anywhere else I can remember. Service speed a little hit or miss, but very friendly staff willing to go the extra mile.

While this place isn't the same as the original Matt's in Austin, some of my favorite dishes from there come fairly close. I recommend trying something different like the chile rellenos or flautas (grilled/crispy and served with toppings like an enchilada, not fried and dry like other restaurants) rather than run of the mill tacos or enchiladas. Don't skip the famous Bob Armstrong dip. Dine in service has been hit or miss in the past, but their recent curbside service has been fast and convenient.

Great food as always! Not near as busy as I thought they would be. Sad for them, good for us.

The food is delicious and we got great service. We ordered by phone for pick up then changed our mind and asked to eat outside. Not only did they accommodate us they made sure the table was sanitized before we sat down.

Had the Chile Rellano...one of the best I have had. I recommend the Bob Armstrong dip as an appetizer.

Okay people, I know Matt's does have somewhat of a loyal base, but Tuesday afternoon with my daughters did not go as I would have hoped. I ordered the Smoked Bob & Sausage. It was less than desirable. Six small lengths of sausage cuts and not much of the dried, hard, shredded portion of brisket. The menu also promised it on a zesty bed of chile con queso. NOT, it was ALL cheese, no chile. It came with a teaspoon of sour cream and guacamole and a cut fresh Jalapeño. They added a sliced tomato (not on the menu). This dish was not appetizing to look at especially seeing it sunk in all that cheese (the so called chile con queso). I have been avoiding this place for a while, and didn't remember why. With all that is going on, my ex prefers I take the girls to an outside patio for now (virus). We saw Matt's while driving by; we wanted to go to Enchiladas. My girls seemed happy, but they didn't finish either and opted for a to go box (being polite..?). Any way, just my experience. And yes, what I ordered was under the appetizer, but I asked before I ordered if it was enough for a meal, I was told yes. Maybe I should have went with the fajitas LOL. GV

Cheese enchiladas are very good! Service was off a bite for a fairly slow time. When you have 4 different workers/waiters help you it makes you ask where is my 1st waitress who took my drink and food order. Salsa is great but I was given a refill of one that had gone bad by 2nd waiter passing by. The 3rd waitress helped me with the salsa issue but questioned my complaint's legitimacy. She eventually brought me fresh salsa. I hope, but I don't think she followed up on checking with 2nd waiter on the bad salsa. I waived waitress #4 over for an ice tea refill. I thought she was my 1st waitress, and that's who I asked for my initial waitress. She was able to locate her, and 1st waitress brought my Ice tea refill 5 minutes later. Hopefully the salsa was followed up on cause it was BAD! Needs more consistency in service now that they are opened again. It was my first dine in since early March. I was told none of the ingredients come from canned food products by my waitress, Great Job Matt's! I feel less guilt paying $12 for enchiladas instead of $8. Good experience overall.?

Support other restaurants right now or be VERY patient. I feel like Im kicking a man while he is down (being the restaurant industry in general), but this may be helpful to some. Ordered through Uber Eats for pickup, waited in a long line of people doing pickup for 30 mins with a bunch of uber drivers (FYI your driver will be late picking up from here), got to the outdoor pickup area and they said they never got our order and said it would be another 25 mins, but then they could cancel it on their end. If you could cancel it, how do you not have the order in the system. Felt like I was lied to or they just made a lot of mistakes and seem to keep doing that recently. If this was a one off I wouldnt leave this review, but I routinely see lines there while driving past, Matt's has not figured out the social distancing pickup situation we all are dealing with. When I got to the bar for pickup there were 10 bags of food on the bar, no one can see them until they get there, and rather than call out names for complete orders they just wait, while people wait in line. I've ordered from a number of local restaurants and they have figured out a better process. Hopefully they can do the same here after this review. For now I'll support my other local restaurants that have figured out how to make this work better.

Ordered by phone and prepaid for pick up. Told that order would be ready in 50 minutes. Showed up just before by 5 minutes. Stood in line for a half hour only to find they we're putting the orders in as the people in the line got to the front. 40 year patron at this and the previous location. I'm done.

Its just not good food. Fish tacos were dried over cooked frozen fish with no flavor. Rice overcooked but seasoned good, beans were average and the nachos are average. Salsa not good. Chips no good. Not worth going to for food. Maybe this is a social drinking place idk.

What is this? I ordered a chicken fried stake meal and when I got it there was not gravy on it no fries and no toast. They did put a salad in there and gave me chips and hot sauce. I am not happy that I paid full price for a meal and got nothing. I won't be coming back here.

Was looking to try a place with good chips and queso and they definitely didn't disappoint! But what really blew me away was their salsa. It just may be one of the best salsas I have EVER had. Perfect amount of spice and was extremely fresh. Let it sit for a day in your fridge, and it's even better. The service was quick and the staff was extremely nice. Will be going back very soon!

We picked up dinner this evening. Drove from Oak Cliff to do so. Ordered our most favorite Chile Relleno. And an Enchilada Dinner. Both were so fabulous. Just like eating in. I warmed them in the oven for a short bit. We have been yearning for Mexican Food since the shut down and I am so glad we chose to drive to Matt's. And they could not have made it any easier and were wonderfully friendly as always. Of course we'll be back as very soon as this is over.

Edit: As my family is in the Dallas Tex-Mex business, I do in fact know how this is affecting restaurants first hand. I know this may seem like I am kicking the company when they are down, and for that I apologize. But that does not change my experience. Trying to do our best to support small and family owned businesses during this time so we picked Matt's to fill our Tex Mex craving. Ordered from here and was pretty disappointed. I got the sour cream chicken enchilada plate. It came with two enchiladas and a small portion of beans and rice. I feel like the portions were much smaller than a regular plated portion when we normally go inside to Matt's. My husband got the Verde chicken enchiladas. The chicken tasted like it had just been boiled with no spices. It was pretty tasteless, sadly. The refried beans and rice were fine and what you would expect. We also got the Bob's Armstrong dip which they are known for. That came with two tiny portions of salsa and a very small bag of chips. We finished the chips long before we finished the salsa and queso dip. As much as we want to support family businesses, we will not be ordering from here again and I doubt I will be able to get my husband to ever go back because the experience was so bad.

Day 5 of mandatory self distancing and take out from restaurants. We've eaten here a few times and it's always good, but I just had to leave a review after tonight! Not only was Matt's hospitable (as always!) during this WEIRD time, but they were on top of everything! Food was super fast, hot, delicious (again, as always!), plus it doesn't hurt to take a margarita Togo! Thanks for being open, Matt's.

excellent fajitas. The margarita was perfect with the mezcal floater. Great overall food and service!
