Omg - my newest favorite restaurant. Nothing fancy in the decor, but they pulled out all the stops when it came to food. I had some pulled pork, biscuit and poached egg concoction that I loved. Hubby had French toast he loved. Stemware so thin you think the gods are pouring the wine down your throat. Loved it.

Went there for the firs time with my wife and aunt for my wife's birthday. We got there a little early and were told they didn't start serving until 5:30 pm. We were then told we to sit at the bar and we cold get food and drinks there. The bartender then repeated that the kitchen doesn't open until 5:30 but we could order drinks. We didn't want drinks unless it was with our food so we said we would come back at 5:30. We came back at 5:30 and the girl at the door asked us if we had a reservation. My wife said no. hen we came in earlier you didn't ask then so why would we assume now that we needed one. She then said all the tables were booked for reservations and they had nothing available. Some of the other staff were just looking at us as if to see our reaction to what we were just told. We just left and will not return to that place. CAN YOU SAY DISCRIMINATION or what. It felt like we were back in the 50's and told your black and to enter through the back door.

The monkey bread is the only good thing there. But it is really really good. Service was inattentive and slow. Mains were meh at best.

We went there because it was close to the place we were staying. I ordered the shrimp and grits because I wanted to try something new. They were amazing. Great staff and great food.

The menu sounds better than it tastes. While the pimento and ham appetizer and sweet potato chips were good starters, the entrees left something to be desired. The Nashville chicken was disappointing. The way I look at fried chicken, if you’re going to brag about some new creative take on a classic, it needs to be better than the original. So in this case, frying a chicken that’s already been rotisseried left it over cooked. The chicken and dumplings were actually pretty solid, but the short ribs were only mediocre. Too bad. I like the theme and decor. Just need to improve the food.

Food was so delicious. The service here is great. The place has a good atmosphere. This place has great reviews for a reason.

Super appetizing. This place has a good feel to it. Atmosphere is similar to a cafe in San Jose I loved.

Visited on Sat I believe. I'll return with my relatives. Prices that are reasonable. Food is similar to a cafe in Portland I liked.

Amazing ambiance great service and excellent food! Not a lot of space inside I highly recommend to make a reservation. The drinks were also good.

Came in here after an afternoon at the Truck Yard around the corner. They were able to seat our group promptly and we quickly had our waiter stop by to ask us for our drink orders. Their cocktails were a tad expensive for Greenville but well crafted. While we weren't starving - some of us just ordered apps as meals - the food was delicious! We had a few dietary restrictions and they accommodated them without issue. I had the tartare- so good and fresh. The mushroom and bits they added to it was delicious! Also had the greens on the side that had chunks of pork - a little heavy on the sauce but would def get again. All in all we left satisfied and happy

For a Tuesday night with less than 20 people in the restaurant, their service was dismal. Our table of 4 was charged $247 for 3 alcoholic beverages, 2 appetizers,3 meals and a dessert. Their fried chicken looked excellent from afar and tasted bland. The bartender did make a tasty amaretto sour. Aside from that, this place is not so good for a first date.

Staff was amazing! Everyone I spoke to came of friendly and really seemed to enjoy where they worked. The (who I assume) the owner was a very charismatic outgoing guy. The food though... ordered the Nashville hot chicken and I was a little disappointed. The chicken was good don't get me wrong, but for $22 them two little pieces of chicken not cutting it. The most filling part of the meal was the oversized biscuit, which was good. If that biscuit had not been apart of the meal I would have left spending $30+ and needing to stop by Popeyes to fulfill my fried chicken craving. Also, not "hot" at all.

Excellent service and food. Delicious cocktails and biscuits and gravy are on point. Ivan is awesome if you sit at the bar. Definitely a place to try!

Took some friends from out of town here and it was my first time here as well. We put in a reservation for 9pm on a Saturday night. We got there and still had to wait another 30 minutes because guests were still sitting there drinking. Hostess did not provide any updates nor did anyone offer drinks or appetizers as we waited. It would have been nice if they offered a free app or something by the time we sat down, we were starving and it was already 9:30! It's a small space and you will be sitting very close to other tables/sharing booth space. Their fried chicken is OK. Wish they offered spice levels as mine was not that hot/spicy. Fried okra was very good. I would come back here again to try brunch maybe, but I wouldn't say this place is out of this world.

This is by far the best food I've had in Dallas thus far. The monkey bread was heavenly and the fried chicken was out of control. The fried chicken is an absolute must! Awesome atmosphere and great wine selection. If you have a free moment in Dallas you will not be disappointed by Rapscallion.

Food is really tasty and the drinks are even better. While Southern cuisine isn't particularly healthy, for more of a 'mid-scale' restaurant, I found this to be a bit greasier.Fried chicken is awesome and so is the mac. The biscuits though are heaven!

After reviewing the menu and talking to our waiter (I'll remember his name after I post this!), we decided to start with a glass of wine and fried green tomatoes. I had a Pinot Noir (Sokol Blosser | Willamette). I've never had anything so good. The Fried Green Tomatoes had a hint of lemon, which was a nice flavor. The sauce that comes with it called "green goddess dressing" I loved. But my friends weren't necessarily fans of it - not due to the quality, but an ingredient of horseradish. (They aren't fans of horseradish) From there, we got our food. I ordered the 8 oz Market Steak - but I subbed out the sides. I got the steak, with the brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. Every aspect of this dish was heavenly! My friend had the Chicken & Dumplings - which was house made ricotta cavatelli, rotisserized chicken, spring veg, onions, parmesan, pistou, and crispy chicken skin. He licked the bowl! Also last but certainly not least, I should not forget to mention the staff. We were catered to, from the minute we walked in the door, until the minute we left. Our water glasses were always full, and when the staff came by to do so, they did so in a professional manner in which not to disturb our conversation of or interrupt our meal, as so many places do. We were sitting at a high top table, and I dropped my napkin. So I got down and picked it up, no big deal. Within 10 seconds, a manager came over with a fresh napkin saying he saw from afar me drop it and he wanted me to have a fresh napkin. They made our dinner experience superb. They were completely knowledgeable about what they were serving and you could tell they really enjoyed working for this establishment. Which was icing on the cake we were unfortunately too full to order! I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant!

Contemporary country vibe from the walls to the plates. Start with the Fried Green Tomatoes - crispy outside, melt-in-your-mouth inside, with a lemon zest twist. Order the "Chicken and Dumplings" next for an absolutely original entree. You couldn't feel more comfortably classy anywhere else in Lower Greenville.

Came here for late lunch on Saturday afternoon after museum of art. Got the oysters and crab salad to start. Oysters were amazing and from Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The crab salad was not doused in mayo and actually very meaty. The monkey bread was deliciously cinnamony and soft and with crispy edges. Definitely devoured quickly. The Nashville Hot chicken was Smokey and spicy in the outside and tender in the inside. Great choice! Overall awesome spot for lunch or dinner!

We visited Dallas to celebrate a bday and this venue was highly recommend by friends. The location was very fun and hip, valet parking at the door was quick and efficient. As a party of 7, the waiter went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The southern cuisine was inventive and delicious. We would come back again.

First time in this restaurant! It has a cool Urban vibe. Our waiter was perfectly attentive, and the hostess was charming. Some dishes were better than others. The chicken and dumplings was absolutely devine but a small portion. They gave my mother a complimentary dessert that we all taste it and it was delicious. Layered chocolate parfait. Chicken fried steak was good, mac and cheese was incredible! A little bit pricey.

We have dined here for brunch a couple of times and just returned for dinner to try other menu items. I am so glad we did!Rapscallion has a very good cocktail list with a few unusual drink options. All we have tried have been very good. This particular evening we had the Chicken and Dumplings (ricotta gnocchi, chicken, veggies, parmesan, and crispy chicken skins) and the Chicken Plate (brined and roasted white meat, white BBQ sauce, biscuit, pickled veggies and greens). Both dishes were unique and delicious! Our only bad experience was not getting our Fried Pickled Okra that we ordered as an appetizer until well after we had eaten half of of entrees. Not sure what happened there.Rapscallion takes normal, 'down home' food and adds a very creative twist to it. Looking forward to trying a new item next visit!

Cara and I were looking for a place for brunch before the Dallas Symphony on Sunday and had heard about Rapscallion from an article on EATER talking about the owners of a new restaurant that's going in near home (Hillside Tavern) and decided to give it a try. I made reservations thru Open Table and a cool thing they offer at Rapscallion is a choice of regular table, high top or bar seating. We opted for a high top and arrived a little before our reservation at 11:30AM. In spite of our early arrival we were promptly seated and shortly our server explained the TABC law about alcohol sales in restaurants on Sunday's before Noon. The restaurant can serve before Noon but there has to be food on the table, his suggestion (and the cheapest option) is a side biscuit. So we ordered one along with a bottle of Rose'.It was a beautiful day and Lower Greenville Ave. was awash with people out on patios and just walking the neighborhood and Rapscallion was no different although not crowded. The side biscuit and Rose' arrived shortly with the biscuit accompanied by sorghum butter and strawberry jam. One look at the biscuit and I knew we were in for a delicious brunch! It wasn't a perfectly formed round biscuit but rather a free form square that had a crispy outer and moist and flaky interior. I needed more!Cara decided on the smoked chicken hash with sweet potato, onion, pepper, poached eggs and a heavenly duck fat Hollandaise. One of the specialties is their Nashville Hot chicken and I opted for the spicy chicken biscuit with sweet potato hash and two eggs over easy. Cara's hash was delicious and quite a lot of food with some of the restaurants famous roti chicken shredded into the dish. My spicy biscuits (there were two) had the Nashville Hot fried chicken, sweet potato hash and two perfectly cooked eggs. The chicken was amazing! A spicy crunchy crust gave way to a moist juicy interior. When combined with the scratch made biscuit it was a perfectly paired combo. Service was friendly and efficient, the interior is warm and inviting and there is a patio out front where you can eat and do some great people watching. We will definitely be back for more, especially the chicken and biscuits!
