Came in for a life jacket. Wow... great for me they were on sale. Not many in the store, but a employee came and asked if I needed help. Nice job. Easy access from the street. Big parking lot. Store was bright and clean. Found items very easily. Look for their coupons in the paper and in mailers. You could save a couple of dollars. I feel they have Quaility items here.

Called them about some 25lb weider weight plates I've been trying to find. They put me on hold to find out if they had them in stock, when they came back they told me that they had three in stock. I told him l would be right over to get them. Drove over to find out they don't have ANY in stock. Love driving around for nothing in rush hour traffic, thanks guys.

There were many customers and two employees on a Saturday afternoon - one at the register and another in the shoe department. The shoe guys was incredibly slow and inept at customer service. Lack of employees is indicative of poor scheduling by the management... And it's not the first time we've experienced this frustration at this location. Ended up at Dick's after wasting too much time at Big 5

Good place to shop for team sporting goods or running shoes. They didn't have what I needed but as it turned out, nobody in town did.

Came to get a ymtreadmill they had on sale and was told at first they didnt have it. I almost drove to American Fork to get in when the manager over heard and got involved. They had the treadmill in stick and in the back. I feel like maybe it was a training issue, but aside from that they were really nice, and helpful, and I'm so glad the manager noticed the error of the employee, which happens.

I used to support Big 5, on all my camping trips, all over the west. Until I applied for a job there. I was told I would have to cover my tattoos and cut my hair. Really? In the outdoor industry? That's the biggest load of bull I have ever heard. Get real, it's 2019 now. There's quality people with tats and long hair, get over your outdated beliefs. Totally ashamed for supporting them for so long.

Definitely the best place for sporting goods in Tooele! They have camping, shooting, and fishing goods as well. Have great sales more often than not! I've always received excellent customer service here.

Big 5 in Murray is awesome they're always helpful, greet you at the door, give you good prices or coupons that have past, help you find things. Love this store and the employees.

Awful customer service. We went in for new soccer cleats, ball, and shin guards for my six year old son. He had to use the restroom while we were there. We were not able to find any help in the shoe department. I had to go to the cashier to get help with a display shoe. After finally getting a salesperson, my son asked him, in front of me where the bathroom was. The salesperson told him the restroom was out of order. He was quite rude when we asked for another size cleat. He showed us a table of shoes across the store. Then proceeded to tell us he did not have the size we were looking for. I pointed out two pair in the size we needed. He looked at me rolled his eyes and just walked away. At the register (yes, we did buy the stupid shoes, they were what my son wanted) the cashier noticing my son obviously needed to use the restroom, said they had a bathroom if he needed to go. Not enough angry faces to show how disgusted I was. I will not shop here ever again. Amazon has my vote over this place any day.

With the passing of time, my outdoor and sporting gear shopping habits have changed. Big 5 used to play a bigger role in my gear hunts, and over the last few years I've not been as keen on them. That's not counsel to not shop here--I still stop in from time to time--but it's a shift from my previous state of mind. Do stop by to cruise. They often have decent clearance racks and even though the selection will be small, you might find breathable base layers, running pants, and loads of shoes on sale. I'm not all about that shoe life here anymore, though. They do sell a few nice brands, but the crazy clearance stuff is not particularly well made. I have finally converted to a "buy quality shoes once" mentality as opposed to a "buy cheaper shoes and make do for a while" style. The budget is different for those mindsets, but so is the frustration level when your cheap shoes fail on the trail versus when the nice ones hold up year after year. As the mindset changed, so did the shopping--they just don't offer a ton of selection for nicer, more durable shoes. Do stop in though--you may be surprised to find something great for a discount. I also make sure to stop here when looking for hiking apparel. It's so much cheaper than other places, though once again, you get what you pay for. Indeed, lightweight nylon pants are $30-40 cheaper here, but you pay for longevity elsewhere. I get one-season pants at Big 5: pants that last for a full season of going hard on hikes, and then I lay them to rest. I did pick up a nice (expensive!) pair of nylon pants somewhere else recently so we'll see if they fare better. Beyond that (and some dehydrated meals I bought from a CA location) I don't seem to purchase much else from Big 5. Still, if you need something on the cheap, or luck into a quality item on sale, you'll be glad you stopped by.

Big store with a bit of whatever it is that you are looking for. I needed an exhibitor type 10x10 tent and they had five to choose from. But darn, the one I liked was "just off sale". No worries - the girl sold it to me for the sale price. Oh, and give them your email address and save more. Why 3 stars? Selection of women's workout wear wasn't up to par. I would have liked to have been able to find matching pieces in a medium size and this wasn't a possibility.

Cheap deals! I love Big 5! I don't typically require the top of the line equipment for my sporting endeavors. But I do like using good quality gear. Big 5 scratches me right where I itch, by giving me good quality, name brand, equipment at a fantastic price. I'ts certainly not Wal-Mart GARBAGE, but it's also not the the best of the best, professional grade equipment either. I can find all the top brands here and I can escape with enough money left over to buy myself a nice lunch. Perhaps the best kept secret about Big 5... get your shades here! They have amazing deals on fantatic eyerwear. Nice! I dig this place!
