Fantastic. I wish I lived closer so I could go there.
Background.. a few weeks ago, my dog tore her ACL. After spending $1000 to diagnose it at the local vet, they suggested I go to Rutland Vet Clinic instead of the local Surgery center, since it would be ~1/2 the cost.
I love my dog.. but still, she has 3 other good legs, bad hips, and after 3 weeks, barely has a limp.
After a 2 hour drive to go down to Rutland, I expected to be talked into/ guilted into immediate surgery for my dog.
I was pleasantly surprised that the Vets in Rutland took a much more holistic approach... looking at the dog's personality, the cost, her age, and recommended that I need not do anything for a while, and wait and see if it bothers her.
After that pleasant surprise, I got another... the bill was only $85!
Fantastic service, helpful friendly staff, and a nice place!

My cat had a urinary blockage, was crying out in pain in a horrible way, bloated and on the verge of being too far gone. When I arrived they explained the problem and told me what it would cost to fix it, nearly $3000 on the lowered end. I like most assumed I could arrange a payment plan because many people do not have 3k laying around for emergency animal surgeries. When I was denied that option, they told me what I could provide them would not be enough to even put my cat down and that they would show me the door. Their only solution was a piece of paper on the wall with websites and phone numbers to essentially fill out credit applications... As my cat writhed in pain and to the doctor's own admission was nearing being too far gone. I frantically called each one, over 20 minutes getting nowhere, and every five minutes the nurse or doctor came back in telling me to figure it out quicker like they needed the room or had no clue how long it takes to actually fill out a credit application. Thankfully I was able to come up with the money from a relative and they held my cat after surgery out back and would not return him to me until I paid in full. The cold, callous, and frankly disgusting treatment I received from both the doctor and nurse was enough for me to never go back, but to allow my cat to leave suffering and die of blood poisoning feels so against the oath a vet takes in that line of work. Shame on this place for not providing affordable care to a community populated with a majority of people in my situation. 0 stars if I could.

Brought my Shepherd pup into the clinic after she had vomiting and diarrhea. She had received a vaccine the day before she got sick. Blood tests, fecal test, X-rays and many hundreds of dollars later, the doctor announced that the X-rays looked very concerning. Surgery up at Bevs was likely needed, but it was necessary to send the X-rays to a radiologist to be sure. Say what? I guess they don’t feel confident in their ability to accurately read images so need to send it out to a specialist (more $). I asked to have the images shared with another veterinarian at another practice. They saw nothing of note on the images. That vet asked me if my dog was still vomiting? No. Is she eating? Yes. All she needed was some medicine for diarrhea. I asked for it, but was refused by Rutland because of the “obstruction “. I was sent home with nothing. There was no obstruction, a decent vet would see that my dog was not acting sick enough to even warrant that scenario. I was left feeling taken advantage of and scammed. I wrote to the clinic, but received no response.

I can't say enough about Rutland Veterinary. My husband and I had to make the difficult decision to put our sick 14 1/2 year old dog down. It was very emotional, but they made us feel like we were doing the right thing and we're understanding and compassionate. They gave us time to say goodbye and to be with him in his final moment. Thank you for your compassion and understanding of how hard this was for us.

I would NEVER bring an animal to this place again. Very poor follow-ups by the vets themselves—they’re great on the first visit, love to take your money for high priced tests, but after that, they communicate through the tech, so good luck in getting answers to questions. They boast about a triage system so that there would be always be a vet available if your particular vet was busy or away from the office, but that triage system was non-existent (unless there was a high-priced test, of course.) Their medications are ALWAYS higher-priced than any other vet, and almost double what you pay online. This was undoubtedly the most expensive vet we’ve ever been to and the absolutely worst service we’ve ever had. We were new to to this area, and we chose this vet based on a phone call and a visit. They talk a good talk, but that’s as far as it goes. The worst thing of all: our dog suffered through a sickness while they played around with this test and that test, this med and that med. They had zero compassion for our dog—yes, they were nice enough, but they were not efficient or effective. It was all about the money, how much could they get from us. They say they offer urgent care, but that just means they’ll take you in right away so they can bilk you out of $$ for tests, then they leave you hanging. Are we bitter? Yes. Our dog deserved better. We were new to to this area, and we chose this vet based on a phone call and a visit. We waited too long to make the move because our dog was sick and we had invested too much faith as well as $$ in this place, and our dog suffered for it. Finally, we called it a loss and found another vet and got the care our dog deserved.

Highly recommend this veterinarian clinic. They listened to everything we had concerns about and answered every question we had. Did a full complete exam. Didn't feel rushed. And actually got her a med for my Furbabies anxiety. Very pleasant to talk to and very caring. They accept insurance as well as have different payment options. Thank you Rutland Veterinary Clinic. You helped put my mind at ease.
