Not one of my preferred Safeway locations - while it is conveniently located inside the Van Dorn Plaza, the items that they have available are either not fresh, ill-prepared, expired, and/or all of the above. The deli/hot food counter staff are friendly, and they did recommend in me trying out their Shepherd's Pie, which was pretty tasty - just make sure you warm it before consuming it.I also feel that they don't have a variety of selection as other Safeways do - prices aren't competitive, and there are always faux markdowns, incorrect pricing, etc., and you find all this out when you're checking out at the register. The store also is in need of a facelift or a complete reno.Plenty of parking in the plaza lot, but be aware of fast drivers and those who don't stop at the Stop sign!+expired, ill-prepared, and/or old items+inaccurate pricings+located in the Van Dorn Plaza+plenty of parking in the plaza lot

On Sun Feb 5,2023. I bought yogurt covered raisins. Expired in Oct 2022. I didn't realize until I already gave some to my 1year old nephew. This was my first time visiting the store . I Don't know if I will be back. The prices are too high to pay for rotten or expired food.

When I first moved here things were cool but it has been going down fast. Associates were very nice and engaging, especially the young man from Liberia. He literally made me happy to be there. Now the service isn't that great. I asked if I could receive a discount on their golden beets because they were old and the leaves were unusable and they refused. So you rather throw it away? Expiration dates are hard to find on certain items...it's just... hmm disheartening. The men who push the carts are still great and some at the register but I miss the old staff.

5/31/21 The smell of baked goods are strong in this store. Not necessarily a bad thing, but when you are hungry, it can mess with your desire to only the things on your shopping list. Never knew this store existed until today. I have eaten at this shopping center, but never paid attention to the fact that it was there in the shopping center. Que Sera Sera and all that good stuff. This store looks like it has been there for a long time, but it looked good inside. Finding the personal shopping items like dinner for tonight, were easily found. Finding the right tropical cooler was easy too. We were in and out with the greatest of ease. Thanks to how organized this store is. Awesome.

Don't ever order delivery in this zip code. They ALWAYS - I'm mean always - get the order wrong. Sometimes you are the beneficiary (I've gotten juice boxes that probably broke a little kid's heart - I have instant meals I will never eat - before COVID I gave probably $50 of food I don't eat and didn't order to coworkers). It's a crap shoot what they send. But sometimes you are the l**** - and, like tonight - you lose the very item you initiated the delivery for in the first place. Yeah - they're happy to refund you but I don't want the refund, I want the items I ordered! Such a disappointment...every...single...time. Where is the quality check? Is there a supervisor doing ANY quality control? Evidently not.

The store got a physical refresh, and has the same great employees. Every time I shop, they put a smile on my face. From the stockers to the checkers to the leads and managers, they always look professional and are as helpful as you can be.

None of these reviews reflect the store as it is now. Its been completely redone. They have beer and wine now too. Its smaller than the 24hr Safeway thats on King St. at Braddock Rd. but its exactly the same.

00 all. I ordered the white queso dip from Safeway. I understand that the company is now owned by Albertsons. Albertsons is a West Coast grocery store. This I know because I shop there many times when I lived in Yuma Arizona. They are passing off the queso dip has original Blanco Dip. It is not. They have watered it down about 50% a water. This is not the West Coast in Albertson should understand that. However we are extremely diverse. So of Albertson's things that people do not know blanco queso dip, you are sadly mistaken. Just because we are on the east coast and not the West Coast does not mean that we don't know the difference. The only thing I can say about the blanco queso dip is that it has heat. That's it. The rest of it taste like water. Like dipping your chip into a glass of water. Albertsons get it together. We are not West Coast but we are Diversified and do no queso dip from any other dip. You should be ashamed of yourself. Taking advantage of us because we are East Coast. As I said many times in this post we are Diversified and do know the difference. Shame on you. Do not buy the blanco queso dip.

The store used to be fairly decent for the neighborhood and the prices are always a little higher than other stores. Twice I have visited this particular location and walked out without buying anything because the inside of the store is simply awful and there's almost no stock on the shelves and I can't figure it out because all the other stores seem to be stocked up pretty well. I most certainly wouldn't buy any perishable item here for fear that it would be incredibly old because some of the meat have expiration dates at it already passed.

This is by far the sketchiest, least stocked, most overpriced Safeway that I have ever been in. The parking lot at night is dark as can be and scary at night when you are alone. The whole back wall in the corner was empty and the only thing there was a huge box of oversized pink flamingos on sale for $19.99 each... Juice selection is horrible... Went in for apple juice and a TV dinner or a quick meal bowl.... The frozen meals were hugely overpriced and considering I live in Bethesda, That's saying a lot. There was no actual apple juice, many different juice mixes... mango punch, pineapple orange, orange strawberry, but no apple juice in the cold juice section. I left after about 20 minutes of being price shocked and followed by a random store clerk who kept following me and eventually asked if I needed help, when I told her no, she got an additude and walked away saying something along the lines of " I'm not needed so I am leaving" All in all, creepy place with a weird vibe, dark and over-priced... you'd be better off at 7-11.

Why so many bad reviews? I've come here many times when I needed a few items after a surgery, needed a bag of cat food or flowers and they always have what I need. Yes, it's a bit dated and small but it's always well stocked and the staff are helpful and friendly. Maybe if you're shopping for a family of 5 they may not have everything that you need but it's perfect for singles or couples who may not need as much. I also like that it's never as crowded as the Giant down the street which is also a plus. I honestly going to the grocery store but this one isn't bad.
