We have shopped here for many years and never had any bad experiences. The employees have always been helpful, polite and respectful. That has truly changed with the hire of a lady named Melissa. I don't know if she's the manager, but she sure acts in charge with a very over-bearing attitude. (I so miss Adrian.) On two occassions she has been rude to me and terribly impatient and unhelpful. She walks around the store complaining about how much she has to do, bickers with her co-workers and is also disrespectful to them -speaking to the customers. She walks around the store angry and mumbling. She makes us very uncomfortable. She always appears miserable and never smiles. We have decided today that we will no longer shop here because of Melissa. On a positive note Snow in the seafood department is awesome and very helpful. She does a great job and we will miss her.

Worse customer service ever!Placed an order online, website directed me to a very far from me store, then I get chicken thighs outdated and so badly packed that it was dripping, I did not allow substitution but, my lemon yogurt was substituted for the coffee one. I call the number on the receipt and an Ian answers, no apologies, just simply rude and shouted at me. Call the store, Nina, answers and says she is the assistant manager, doesn't allow me to talk interrupting me all the time. I definitely DO NOT recommend!I received an automated answer to my inquiry and would like to add some more to my review- The core of my complaint was the customer service, after calling to complain about the chicken I received, which package was not only draining a weird slime as it also smelled really bad and obviously was in no condition of being consumed, instead of apologies I was shout at. Unbelievable. I wonder if I shouldn't have called the health department that would at the very least issued a fine.

I've shopped at this Safeway location for nearly 18 years and I'm done. Here's why: 1. The prices are outrageous. Yes, costs for groceries are up everywhere, but no prices are higher than Safeway's. I learned this at the beginning of the pandemic when home delivery was hard to come by and Amazon was prioritizing Whole Foods delivery for Prime members. I actually reduced my grocery bills by having Whole Foods delivered, even with added fees. On the day I'm writing this, I paid $7.49 at Safeway for the same box of Cheerios I purchased at Giant for less than half that price the week prior. After seeing the $11.49 price tag on a package of Cottonelle toilet paper, I walked to the other end of the shopping center and bought the exact same package at Walgreens for $7.49 with no discount. Since when are regular prices at a drug store 35% cheaper than a grocery store? 2. Limited selection and poor condition of produce, specifically herbs. For example, I've searched for fresh dill and tarragon on multiple occasions and found neither. The last time I bought basil, the leaves were so black and wilted that I threw the whole package away without using any of it. I recently dug through a display of cilantro in an attempt to find a single bunch that wasn't rotting before giving up and buying a $5.49 tube of cilantro paste. I've also seen their whole display of cut white mushrooms brown and soggy. I've found the produce to be categorically not great at nearby locations as well. 3. Deals that aren't really deals. The most recent example is using the Safeway app to "clip" a reward that couldn't be redeemed. In my case, this was a free pound of their house-brand Lucerne butter. Since clipping it, I've used my card to buy that item on two separate occasions. I have yet to receive a discount of the purchase price. I bought a large container of Pompeian olive oil for around $14 after more than $20 in card and app discounts. While that sounds like an amazing deal, the same container sells for $14.98 every day at the Walmart a mile or two away. So in reality, they were overcharging by more than double with their regular price. I also hate that to receive a discount on brand name sodas, you're required to buy multiples of large, bulky packages. For example, buying four twelve-packs of Coca-Cola cans so that half are "free," but truly exorbitantly expensive without a discount. The app had some decent deals for a while but now they're few and far between. I also don't love standing in the aisle fiddling with my phone in an attempt to justify not just leaving on the spot to head to Wegmans. 4. They're often out of stock on many items. If you need an item frequently, stock up when you can. For example, the unsweetened Silk soy milk I buy regularly is more often out of stock than not when I'm looking for it. In my attempt to boycott the ridiculous Coke discount requirements, I opt for their generic cola, which is also often out of stock. 5. Expired items. More than a few times I've gotten home with items that were already past their expiration date when I bought them. I've found this to happen most frequently with bagged produce, although it's happened with some deli items, including a moldy shepherd's pie, for which they promptly refunded me. 6. Detrimentally understaffed. The employees are actually really pleasant and helpful people but there aren't enough to keep things moving. There's always one line too few open and some hours the self check-out is closed because there's no one to watch it. During peak hours, the lines crawl deep into the aisles. I also imagine staffing issues are the cause of the stocking problems, as well. 7. Inadequate offerings. There's no bakery and what few bakery items they stick on a table near the entrance are those mass-produced, preservative-filled ones not requiring refrigeration. If you want a fresh pastry or loaf of bread, you're out of luck. There's a seafood co

The seafood department is so helpful! Yesterday, I was tight on time and the clerk shelled and deveined the shrimp for me while I shopped. Such a time saver!

Decided to continue with filling scripts here because of the headache of transferring. One attendant in particular keeps me writing bad reviews. Couple days back I went in and talked to the Mrs. behind the counter and asked her to politely put back the script that was ready because I didn't need it. However, order my other script because I do need it. She said it was all taken care of. Now, this specific person seems to be energetic, does not listen well and I try not to question her because I don't want a quick loud answer. She did none of what I asked. I went back multiple days later to pick it up...... the lady that was there today, who is very kind and helpful, could not find it. I asked her which script she was trying to find because I knew the previous lady I talk to never does her job or listens to customers. Well, she was looking for the script I asked to be put back and the one I needed she never ordered. I know Safeway does not care....... Last time they said log in somewhere and complain. Good for them. I'm tired of this employee and writing bad things about someone who does not want to their job. Unfortunately we will start driving elsewhere starting today to grocery shop and get our scripts filled. Just because one employee ALWAYS is a know it all, does not do what she is asked, customer is not important to the employee. With that said, I've wasted enough time with this place and have given them numerous chances. Thanks for another great response. I now understand. Sorry to bother you! Still a robot?

I have always loved Safeway. Very clean store and friendly staff. I'm visiting from Kentucky and new to the East Coast area. I moved from Las Vegas, Nevada and it's nice to see items available in the store.

Excellent!! Very clean!! Good selection of fresh vegetables. This is not my usual store for grocery, but since I was in the area, I stopped in. I stopped in on 9-19-2020 and 10-5-2020 for some necessities. The store was so clean that I was stunned. People were constantly wiping stuff down, which I appreciated. I found what I needed: milk and eggs. My cashier was very polite and seemed to want to be at work. You know how it can be when you get the one who thinks that YOU are doing them a favor by being alive. I can see myself coming back again, if for no other reason, the cleanliness. Keep up the great work. I love the specials too. I use my Safeway Frequent Shopper Card too. Unfortunately, I don't shop enough to actually take advantage of what I purchase, but the quality of the product makes it all worth while.

I know it's very rare that people take the time to write a positive review, but I have to give a shout out to Yonis, Grocery Store manager, that went above and beyond the call of duty to assist me. He was working overtime the day I came in. I inquired about a particular item and I'd been to the store twice that week. Yonis stopped what he was doing to assist me, although tired and it wasn't his department. He went to the back where the stock was, went through and found the item and brought it out to me. He was even proactive to place another order at that very moment to ensure more would be there next time. I went in today and it was fully stocked!!! It may seem little to some, but it was big to me! Thank you Yonis!!!!

So two months ago Rolling Rock Beer was $5.99 + tax a 6pack. Today, with a Safeway card, you pay 7:99 + tax a 6pack. If they are going to gouge a cheap domestic beer like rolling rock, I promise you they will gouge everything in stock. Anymore I would rather travel 4 miles down Rt. 1 than shop at this Safeway. I only give them 1 star because I have to.

There are never enough cashiers at this store. One, maybe two lines open every single time I visit this store. Long waits to checkout backed up down shopping isles. No self Checkout. I won't shop here anymore. It's not worth the hassle and long waits.

I'm surprised this place got any stars at all. I work closeby and enjoy the idea of going to the supermarket to get a nice fresh sandwich at the deli. I had done this one morning, and although the woman at the counter was working slow, she got my order correct and so I got my sandwich and scurried along. I chalked that up to it being the morning and her being alone behind the counter. This afternoon I walked in and two women were behind the counter. I mentioned to one that I wanted a turkey sandwich and she motioned to the premade sandwiches. I said no thanks, I don't know how long those have been sitting there and I also don't want onions or mustard on my sandwich. She didn't look happy about making my very simple turkey sandwich. She begins to slowly begin my order, with no enthusiasm about it. Ten minutes later, I'm still waiting for her to finish my sandwich. She had to walk back and forth to get all my ingredients together and even walked off to find a tomato in the store. There was no reason why I should have been waiting that long for ONE sandwich. I won't be returning here to buy anything, as that type of work ethic tells me everything I need to know about how they value their customers. Thanks but no thanks Safeway!

Wish I could give this store 0 stars! I went to get my ingredients to make chocoflan and the recipe asked for cheese cream. When I looked at the expiration date, it was from MAY and few from June 11! You need to do a better job!
