Is it run down? yes.are most of the cardio machines broken? of course.are the locker rooms out of date? absolutely.are the employees friendly? nope.but i still like this place. affordable, simple, spaced out equipment, never crowded in the morning and has a pool where you can almost always find a lane.

I’ve been coming here for a lot time and when I’m back in town this his the gym, however the new guy, the Jamaican one, is who I need to have conversation with the location manager about. He was rude, couldn’t understand, assumed and did what he was not even told.He acted like we were in the streets having a fight, or he had some grudge. This level of service is not what’s needed at gateway; access to airport, the district and the capital.

The Potomac Yard location has water bugs and broken machines. In addition, there are a lot of “Karen(s)”who harass you when you are trying to just exist.

The cleaning staff is amazing yet the equipment is often broken; several treadmills & Stairmaster haven't worked in a year or more. Other team members, socialize more than assisting with the upkeep of the gym & safety of the members.Sadly, this is a trend amongst LAF nationwide.

This gym has only one pair of 20-pound dumbbells, and it's constantly in use. I've put in several requests for another set. It's been two months and counting.

Nearly all of the cardio machines have been broken for months hell maybe even a year. Some of the machines are broken and have yet to be fixed. Plus employees are quick to get you to sign a contract but you have to go through hell to cancel. Plus they’ll make errors by double charging sometimes.

Worst LA Fitness I have ever been to. Over 60% of cardio machines in the upper level are “scheduled for maintenance” they’ve been like this for the past year. This location needs new management. No one re-racks their weights and it’s just a mess at this gym. I would not recommend anyone signing up at this location, the one down the street next to Giant doesn’t have as many amenities but I would 100% recommend it over this location. At least their equipment works and people have enough respect to put weights back.

I wanted to look at the club to decide whether to join. But in order to work out there, I have to join. The “Free Guest Pass” is a scam to force you to join. When I pressed, I heard that I’d have to provide my credit card, join, and then come back to the club to cancel when the right person happened to be there. Welcome to the Hotel California. You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave. Beware.

Needs all new equipment. This is horridEverything is broken. The lower levels smells terrible. This location never has paper towels or toilet tissue. Sauna door is broken off the hinges.

I’ll remove this when they fix it but over half of their cardio equipment has been broken for months and they always say it’s getting fixed soon but again, it’s been months. If you want to do cardio, just go to another location because you’re not going to get a treadmill on a week night.Edit: I can back, originally left this 2 months ago, everything is still broken and there are only 6 functional treadmills and it’s a 20 minute limit

Most of the time the hot tub doesn't work, they do not post proper signage around when it is open or closed, and a lot of elliptical and treadmill machines are broken. The pool was down for a long time. They are missing some weights. The gym doesn't have Managers on staff to address problems. It is a frustrating experience being a member here and I am definitely close to going to another gym closer to home. I would pick a gym that is more convenient over driving further to coming here because the extra perceived perks are not worth it.

God this LA Fitness is awful. Everyone's 1 star review is right, the equipment blows donkey dick. The sinks in the locker room don't work, the weights are never in the right spots, half of the equipment (no exaggeration) is just broken, the setup is wack.. drive another 20 minutes for a better one.

I agree what most of what is being said here. This place is SOO poorly maintained. Some machines stay broken for six months or more. Some of the equipment has simply been removed when it breaks because it is so old they cannot get the parts. And these machines are never replaced with newer models. As someone else said, not a single piece of new equipment has been added to this facility since it opened 14 years ago.I have been a member since the day it opened, when it was state-of-the-art. Now it is anything but.I was told in September that 50% of the machines would be replaced in October. To date, nothing has been replaced. Also, half the dumbbells are missing completely, members frequently do not replace weights (you have to hunt all over the gym to find what you need -- if you can even find it), paper towels are frequently on the floor. Yes, they replaced the carpeting with tile but that was only after people were tripping on the loose carpet threads. No gym staff are on the weight room level to monitor the situation.I am looking for a new gym and hope to find one as conveniently located as this one. I do not recommend anyone joining this facility, despite its reasonable cost. You get (maybe not) what you pay for!

This LA Fitness has what you need, but definitely needs work. Been a member for close to 3 months now and about half of the cardio machines have been “scheduled for service” since I’ve been coming here. There are no stair masters because they’re all scheduled for maintenance. Some of the weight machines are broken and you don’t find out until you go to use them.A lot of the equipment is really on its last leg. The weight room floor also smells horrible. The bathrooms are extremely dirty and smell pretty awful most of the time. The best part of this gym is the cost and the ability to bring guests every time you come to workout. If you have the money, it’s worth it to spend a bit more for a different gym if they don’t work on these issues.

Since the gym had a large sign at the front desk requesting reviews online, here you go...This has to be the WORST LA Fitness I have been to - possibly the worst gym I've ever been to. I've seen apartment complexes and hotels that take better care of their equipment. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I've seen several weight machines where the pulley system has completely snapped while someone was using it. People can get seriously injured here & it's just sad that the owners clearly don't care about that. Majority, if not all, of the weight machines/equipment are rusted & likely are over 10 years old. It doesn't cost much to lube the pulley systems & take care of the machines, but again, the owners don't care about investing in that. Don't even get me started on the cardio equipment. 75% of them (this is not an exaggeration!) have been scheduled for maintenance prior to me joining the gym 3 months ago. After using the guest pass to try the gym out, I originally wasn't going to sign a contract b/c the equipment was in such poor shape. However, the sales rep who I worked with told me they were going to be replacing the equipment & doing upgrades soon so I figured I could deal with the crappy equipment for a little while. Clearly, that was a lie & an attempt to get me to sign up when she knew I wasn't sold on the gym's condition. You can only imagine how baffled I was to find out the owners of this LA Fitness recently purchased the Gold's Gym down the street. Instead of making a better gym to get more people in the door, they spent their money on another gym that is also in bad condition. I'd rather go to a Planet Fitness...I even reached out to their customer service to try to let them know the condition of this gym and how crazy it was to be paying $40/month for 1 location. I was told I would hear from someone within LA Fitness but, of course, no one reached out. I'd highly recommend choosing another gym.
