I was looking for retirement towns, and Culpeper was on my list.After meeting Mike ( The Owner of Historic Smoke ), Culpeper shot up to the top of the list. The Cigar shop was both warm, and inviting, and it pays homage to veterans ( Marine veteran here ), police, fireman & first responders, by hanging flags and patches throughout the store. Mike himself is not a veteran, which makes this homage even more special. I was sitting outside the smoke shop since it was a beautiful day, and just as it was almost closing time Mike and his son pulled in, ( they were at a cigar event that day ) Mike introduced himself, then spent over an hour ( after closing time ) telling me the rich history of Culpeper, I mentioned I had been to Far Gohn brewery the day before, and how much i enjoyed myself there, Mike said, "well lets not just sit here, lets go have a beer". Mike and I proceeded to the brewery to continue our chat, and we stayed there til it closed at 9:00. Mike was beyond generous at the brewery, ( I will keep that between us ) I had planned on leaving the next morning to drive home to CT, but after meeting Mike, and listening about the town, I decided to stay one more day, and do more town research. I spent the day "working from home" in the cigar shop, went to lunch at an awesome food truck Mike had recommended, (Mediterranean), and went site seeing. I also met a couple of Mike's customers, who were equally as friendly. I look forward to my next trip back, which is coming up shortly.Ok, enough about Mike, lol The shop itself has an awesome selection of cigars, the lounge is large with a Cathedral ceiling, for great ventilation. There are TVs, which are playing, but aren't blasting, so you can go in there and have conversation, read or work.There are plenty of soda, tea, water, coffee, energy drink selections.I can't wait to get back!

Historic Smoke is a great cigar lounge! Mike, the owner, is friendly and knowledgeable. The lounge is spacious and comfortable. Great new spot in Culpepper!

Just left an event at historic smoke. Great shop, comfortable atmosphere, and very knowledgeable owner. The event was hosted by historic smoke, catered by Catch The Chef, and included a ceramic paint craft from Wine And Design Culpeper. Food and craft we're both awesome. Highly recommend all three of these businesses. What a great time!

Great cigar shop in Culpeper! Good selection of premium cigars, lots of comfortable seating. Cathedral ceilings with fans provide plenty of circulation and a patriotic theme overall lends to a nice friendly way to enjoy a smoke. Mike, the owner, is very knowledgeable and provides friendly advice if you want to know more about his cigars. It's really nice to have this kind of cigar (only) shop/lounge in our town.

I went in for one stick while in the area and left with three. The owner is knowledgeable and gracious. His humidor while not full, was filled with some hard to find cigars. I'll be back when in the area.

Great place for a cigar. Has events each month and good people. Nice open lounge good airflow. Very nice place for a relaxing afternoon with a good stick.

Very nice quiet cigar shop and lounge. Watch the games or just chill. Mike the owner is ready to help you or just converse with. Nice to have something like this in Culpeper. Great location and easy parking.

Super friendly and knowledgeable owner, he will go out of his way for you. Excellent experience and nice inside atmosphere. No smell of smoke, perfect ventilation system in a wide open space.

This is the only place in Culpeper Virginia where you can currently smoke indoors. On real hot days or any day in the winter it is just the best. Great selection of cigars here. I have never bought one and found it dry or moldy like you get at the other tobacco places in Culpeper. Friendly owner who really knows his stuff about cigars. I can't recommend it more!

The owner said humorously, “you are going to like this cigar, it will ruin your life, it has all those notes and even some cherry”, and I think he is right about that. I asked if he had any cigars that are medium strength but carry full bodied flavors, with an earthy core, and notes of chocolate, coffee, and a slight sweetness. He gave me a recommendation I have not tried before and it quickly became my favorite. Excellent shop. The owner is very knowledgeable and gives great advice on which cigars would suit your preferences
