My mom wanted to see the fall trees and I know she likes the water. I found this tour and thought it would be a nice trip for her. It is a good boat tour. The lake is beautiful, the boat ride is steady, the views are great, and there are food and drinks if you want them. I think the tour would be better at about 1.5 hours rather than 2, but small complaint. The Christmas lights probably look great in twilight but they were in the way if you were on the upper deck. My time spent at the bow with a full view and a bit of lake spray was more relaxing.There was nothing surprising or exceptionally impressive. It was just a very good, relaxing boat trip around the lake. I'd recommend people to give it a shot if they'd like a sunny day out on the water.The place to eat on the dock was hit or miss though. The pulled pork had a very strong pork smell and it was strange to order BBQ pulled pork that had no sauce or seasoning. Sandwiches were fine but pricey considering they definitely use cheaper breads and such. Ok to eat, not sure I'd recommend to stop and try.

Don't waste your money, go on the FREE state park boat tour!!! We were SO disappointed in the sunset cruise last week! We were stuck sitting on the lower level, with no outside railing or even an open window to see the lake and sights. We couldn't even hear the skipper. We had gotten there 30 minutes early, as instructed, but the top level was already full.

Nice two hour tour. The boat was filled up, we were on the upper level. Bottom level more enclosed. $15 extra for the lunch was well worth it we thought. It was tasty and you could go back for seconds. Crew very nice. They leta few of the young'ins skipper the boat for a spell and sang happy bday for a passenger.

We had a great cruise and a good lunch. I need more of those brownies! The staff was very kind and attentive. The boat had some problems during our cruise but the staff handled it quickly and it did not stop the tour. Some things could be improved but being that this boat has been on the water since 1989, I think it was still a great experience.

Highly recommend! Wonderful little tour, neat picnic meal, cash bar with sodas as well as alcohol! Sandy was very pleasant and attentive! The speakers were hard to hear, but the views made up for that! The only unfortunate encounter was prior to the tour, Stacy was not very friendly or welcoming and seemed stressed. Once on the tour, everything was great!!!!

This was a beautiful ride, but I was disappointed at the intercom system. We couldn’t hear one thing the captain said about the history/scenery of the lake because the speakers were such low quality. The people at our table had the same complaint. Also, I think the boat could use some updates. I imagined it being nicer on the top deck, but it was just plastic tables and chairs. With some improvements, I think this could be a high quality experience.Also, I recommend going to a different restaurant than the one next to the Virginia Dare. Since we didn’t buy dinner on the boat, we stopped at the grill next door before the boat ride. There were hardly any menu options, and they were out of chicken. It was incredibly loud, as well. If you’re into the drinking scene, the area near the Virginia Dare would be great. Otherwise, you should try a different restaurant.

Enjoyed our dinner cruise. The crew were so nice. (Next time, put your tip jar at the exit where the departing guests can give you more tips!) The captain was very enjoyable and Bob was a great and enjoyable person! Thank you and highly recommend this tour!

What a wonderful experience! The employees are so nice, Sandy was amazing! Everything was clean, the boat ride was serene, and the tacos were 10/10. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and delicious the food was. Everything was lovely. Thankyou!

Food was cafeteria style and light parade tour was quite boring. It was hyped up but I imagine the view was better from the shore. Staff were extremely helpful and energetic. Nothing bad to say about them. It seemed longer than it should’ve been. I assume daytime tour would be better because you could actually see the lake during the tour. The company canceled our daytime tour so we got stuck with the night time one which we were told would be better.

A nice way to spend time with family and love one's. We had a buffet and drinks are extra . There was a nice restaurant were you can wait until time to depart for boat ride ; they had food and drinks available here as well .

Great view of the lake. Genuine vibe and Awsome staff. Favorite item on thier 'Beacon menu', the Low Country Boil it has a house Sea-Cajun seasoning, perfect with a cold one.?????.

The food was just ok nothing great. No hot veggies Just cookies for desert. But the big thing for me was the web site listed several points of interest. Nothing was pointed out at all.
