This was a nice stop to learn a little about Radford history. They provided a free tour of the home with a knowledgeable tour guide. He was able to answer any question and provided interesting details about the house and the family.

Wonderful experience here. Very true to the period with many original pieces. Restored beautifully. Our docent had actually been in the home several times as a young girl. We were the only two for that tour so got some personal details and even serenaded by her playing the original piano. Highly recommended.

Glencoe Mansion allows you to explore our history from the early Native Americans to the present with engaging and informative exhibits. Special exhibits also highlight America's past cultural history, and ever-changing gallery exhibits reveal our region's current artistic culture.
Completed in 1875, the Glencoe Mansion was the home of General Gabriel C. Wharton, CSA, and his wife, Nannie Radford Wharton, civic leaders whose work to further education, business and industry helped Southwest Virginia recover from the Civil War. Step back in time to learn about life in the 19th century and the valuable contributions the Whartons made to reuniting the nation.
