I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce vehicle licensing office today. I went in to transfer a title and register a vehicle I purchased for $5,000. They assessed it at $8,200 without explanation, refused to show how that value was determined, and told me they could not accept valuation reports from JD Power, KBB, or Carfax, despite those being standard industry sources.
On top of that, I was charged for new plates even though I was transferring my old ones. When I calmly pointed out the error, the representative was condescending and dismissive before finally admitting the charge was wrong.
Feeling uncomfortable with how I was treated, I requested a full refund and took my paperwork to the Poulsbo JRO licensing office instead. There, the staff were polite, efficient, and completed the same transaction correctly for nearly half the cost ($580 vs. $1,075).
The lack of professionalism and transparency at the Bainbridge office was unacceptable. I recommend anyone registering a vehicle go to Poulsbo instead. They clearly know how to do it right.

Acoustics in the lobby is disturbing however.
Hire someone to rectify the disturbing situation please.

Their website said I can mail in a request for a replacement title, so I did. I also sent in a check that has been cashed. Now, over a month later, I am being told that they don't do replacement titles. So now I'm left wondering, how and where can I get this done while no longer living in WA? And who cashed my check!?

Very happy to say great things about the Bainbridge Chamber...they were so gracious and welcoming. It's definitely worth a drop-by to visit and hear of all of the sights and events happening on the Island. Also, they have some great recommendations for everything from lunch to historical sites. I joined the Chamber almost three years ago, during the pandemic, as a brand new retail shop. I'd never had that type of business before, but the team at the Chamber office have been a great source of support from the beginning, and have helped my business grow and thrive in many ways.I encourage any business on Bainbridge to join the Chamber and take advantage of all they have to offer.

Day 1: visit to ask specifically what documentation I’ll need to register an out-of-state vehicle.Day 2: bring all documentation and get denied, because “you don’t have all the required documentation.” When I got frustrated and said it would have been nice to know EVERYTHING I needed, the man at the desk said “it’s not my responsibility to tell you everything you need.”Actually, it is sir. That’s your job.Day 3: bring in EVERYTHING, get interrupted midway through EVERYTHING I say. Hit my breaking point, yell at the guy, storm out, yell at the sky, feel silly.Day 4: go to Poulsbo and get through in 15 minutes without any trouble whatsoever.

Was treated horribly for the past couple days trying to get plates for my car. Don't even bother showing up go to a different DOL. My wife and I went in three different occasions trying to get our plates on the car. First time I wasn't there. Kris told my wife she needed my ID card. I walked down and handed it in. Came back another time with just my ID told her I needed to be there in order for him to process it. Come back the third time after jumping through all the hoops with an hour before it closes telling us he doesn't want to do it right now because he is about to pack up for vacation. Both of us work and we made time out of our days trying to do the right thing and get out car registered. Was very unreasonable, unaccommodating and unprofessional.

What's the point of listing a phone number if you're never going to answer your phone?? Have left multiple messages asking for a call back over the past MONTH and nothing.

I ordered car tabs to be delivered by Bainbridge. They didn't come, I have USPS informed delivery so I know they weren't sent out. The Bainbridge Chamber didnt answer my phone calls, voicemails, emails or fb messages. I went to the port orchard DOL and paid for "lost" tabs and got them in minutes.

Great little DMV satellite and a quick place to get a fishing license. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
