Wouldn’t recommend. Mishap with reservation this weekend, male employee was rude and offered zero assistance. Should have known better.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. Customer service is HORRIBLE. Attempted to move my stay, verbiage stated I needed to cancel original date through 3rd party so I did. Hotel cancelled entire trip, even though my confirmations said it wouldn’t be. Travelers left without a room (no vacancy anywhere) and again HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

The room was smallish, but clean. The king bed was comfortable. The guy at the front desk was not friendly and acted put out if you had a question. Great location for hikes and skiing.

Be aware, they currently have a malfunctioning reservation system that sends you a confirmation without actually booking the room. I had to drive around town to find another hotel.

We stayed in June, room was okay, but not worth the price, the air conditioner didnt work.
The worst thing is we just received alert on our credit card in December that they charged our card twice for 10.00 within 1 minute of each other just now and when we called we spoke to the young person who did it and she claimed she had no idea how their system still had our full card on file and was a mistake when a current guest bought something of their shelf. I asked why our card was still on file and why two seperate charges for the exact even amount of 10.00???? We reported this to our AMEX fraud department and we will be calling Management in the morning!!!

Large, clean room with comfortable bed. Quiet, convenient location. Would stay again.
Nearby activities: Close to Mt Rainier NP.

Looked like new bedding but not much else. If you need somewhere to sleep, it's okay, but it's way overpriced. Only one washer and one dryer works. Man, who is usually behind the desk, clearly doesn't seem like that's where he wants to be. I spoke with several guests about not friendly he was.

The 1 star is for the location because it's very easy to get to both sunrise and paradise corridors. And the elk herd. Also it was nice that they had laundry machines.
As for the rooms, I don't think I can say anything good. The beds and pillows are super uncomfortable. The shower was the worst. It sprayed water everywhere so the entire bathroom floor got wet and there was mold on the ceiling. I would not recommend this place, especially since it's not cheap. This place needs a lot of work.

Used camping shower services was clean and staff was friendly. The shower head needs work though very powerful. Still would use them again and wouldn't have any issues booking a room here. The Lodge look is awesome and well thought out cool place

This place is awful. The rooms are spacious but a little grody and very noisy. You'll know exactly when your neighbors turn on the hot water. There are cob webs in the corners and dust bunnies on the floors. The mattress is very lumpy, uncomfortable, and dated. The one chair in the room bottoms out when you sit in it. The woman at the front desk can barely look up from her game to answer a question.
The real crime is the laundry room. One each working washer and dryer. EVERYTHING in the room is disgustingly dirty. I could hardly stand to walk on the floors. The room looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. (See photos).

Stay away from this hotel, and deal with them in cash only.
Stayed there for 2 nights with an infant and a 2 years old baby.
They have overcharged my credit card and giving an excuse of using 2 towels - charged $50 for it and charged $100 more than the booking price (booked through Expedia).
The room was full of pet hairs, was asked to park on the grass in a dark area, away from the room just because they rented out the parking lot for a local event, the water in the tub was holding up and there was no one to address the concerns. and they have started charging now for no reason, this experience is not at all welcome.
Please reach out to me for more details and again stay away from this place, if you want a peaceful vacation.

Packwood was a nice place to stop after coming out of Mount Rainer National Park. The hotel was comfortable and our room was clean. The man that checked us in and out could be more welcoming. We felt like we were an inconvenience to him.

Well located hotel, just between the entrances to Mount Rainier. Check-in was quick, without hassle. In Mount Rainier the roads were closed due to bad weather: the lady at reception was kind enough to check whether this was still the case.
Sometimes there are moose on the lawn!

We have been staying at the Cowlitz River Lodge for many years, as we love the location and the past managers have been wonderful. However, with the new ownership the rooms have become extremely expensive and are no longer clean, there is no breakfast provided which makes the mornings challenging, and the management does not seem to care about customers nor providing good customer service. So we have moved to an airbnb for our time in Packwood…..it is very disappointing to see what has happened to our favorite Packwood hotel!
