Like every bbq joint around here. The meat is cool not great. Their chicken was seasoned nicely. Sides are always an issue at almost all of the bbq spots. I'd go back. My son likes their sweet potato pie.

The service was great. I didn't notice any distinct flavorings with the pulled pork, and the BBQ sauce tasted similar to bottled sauce I've had before.I was underwhelmed.I did love their strawberry lemonade. It was real good, and met my expectation. A little too sour to down, but I would order it again.

I went to Emma’s for the first time and my order was not right and I spoke to the owner and she was AMAZING! She corrected the order and I left happy! I got the ribs and brisket and it was pretty good! One thing I fell IN LOVE with was her old fashioned lemon cake... it was the bomb.coo!

BBQ, yeah, excellent. Everyone at our table was very satisfied. Next time I'll be back with my friends. Similar to a cafe in Las Vegas I loved.

It was great cant wait to go again I had a BBQ chicken Sandwich with a side of bake beans and potato salad. The BBQ sauce was delicious and not too sweet.

Friendly service & delicious food. I should have come here a long, long time ago. I got the dinner special w/ pulled pork, mac and cheese, collard greens and cornbread. The pork was so flavorful and the mac and cheese was truly out of this world-- had little crispy bits of cheese and everything. I can't wait to go back but will have to be patient until Thursday.

This place is amazing. It's locally owned and operated, prices are super reasonable, and the food is delicious. During covid, it was limited to one guest at a time in the restaurant (it's a tiny place) which I appreciated. Definitely worth a trip down to south Seattle.

Excellent spot for delicious BBQ. Service is always awesome even when they have a full house. The service here is better than most. Prices were appropriate.

It's not easy to find good barbecue in Seattle. This place is an exception. If your in the area or looking for some good barbecue, I definitely recommend this place. Check it out!

First rate Barbecue, collard greens and cornbread. The potato salad tasted exactly like my mothers, which made me tear up a little bit. Miss Emma is awesome!

The food is so yummy! You can taste the love that goes into making it in every bite! Tess is awesome and the staff is friendly and the service is great. Looking forward to our next trip out for BBQ.

A tale of two visits. The first time, the owner was behind the counter, and the ordering was friendly and the food was very good; the ribs, in particular, were excellent. The second time, the young woman behind the counter couldn't be bothered from texting on her cell phone to take her order. When she finally finished texting, there was no apology of any type. We ordered Ribs again, and were told, "we're out of Ribs". A _ribs place_ is out of Ribs on a _Saturday night_? The poor service left us cold, don't know if we'll give it a 3rd try.

Wow, I highly recommend Emma's BBQ in Hillman City. I can't believe the two-meat plate plus a coleslaw fed 2 adults with leftovers! What amazing value and delicious food. Food wise this is my fave BBQ in the Seattle area.. And there was live music outside while we waited for our takeout so it was probably the most fun food experience we had since the pandemic started. We had:- Two-meat dinner with brisket and pulled pork, chose collard greens, yams (amazing!), and corn bread as sides- 8oz coleslaw- Both mild and hot BBQ sauce (I prefer the hot, it's not too spicy)FYI we ordered at 7:45pm and they were out of mac n cheese so go earlier if you have your heart set on that. They also stopped taking orders at 7:50 so we barely made it. They are so vigilent about safety precautions which is great. There's a line on the floor where you order behind, the lady sat behind a big plexi glass, and I love that she yelled at the second person who tried to come in when I was ordering because they only allow one customer at a time. Bravo for keeping customers and employees safe! Go support this wonderful black owned local business and get some darn good BBQ.

Food was meh (Woodshop is better), staff was rude, and they’re trying to use a compost bin for trash.

Great! Don't make my mistake and order just before closing. Phone in your order early. This place is a gem. They need more locations Seattle-wide.

COVID-takeout. Place our order and they brought the food out to you. Friendly black-owned family restaurant. Food was delicious prices are high do the pick two or three to save money to try other meats. Parking on the side streets

Everything we tasted was fantastic. Excellent BBQ ribs, mac and cheese, greens, potato salad. Brisket sandwich was really good too! Friendly staff as well! My friend, who grew up in the east and south U.S., said Emma's is the best BBQ that they've had in Seattle! Genesee Park is close and is lovely spot to picnic with your takeout from Emma's!

The meat falls off the bone, and the sauce is medium or hot. I love it.

I wish I could have taken pictures but the food was so good I ate it before I could! This place is the best bbq I’ve had in Seattle! I absolutely was surprised. The Mac and cheese was also very good. Definitely will be back. Don’t skip out on this place it’s A+

This place is amazing. I really like the flavor and tenderness of the bbq. The sides are amazing too. I had the Mac and cheese and greens and the potato salad. I will go back for sure!

After reading the reviews, I had very high hopes. The service was good. The barbecue was fair, not as good as I expected. I do not put sauce on my ribs, so the flavor of the meat must stand on it's own. It didn't. It was a bit dry, which made it tougher than I like and it was missing the smokiness I expect in a barbecue. I also had the collard greens. The greens had not cooked long enough as a result, they were stiff and still had the taste of vinegar. Also they were missing some fat. A smoked neck bone or smoked turkey. Something to add more flavor. Not good enough to return. Too bad.

I love this bbq spot. They make great bbq, the mac n cheese is really special. I know mac n cheese can be hit or miss, but this is definitely worthwhile here, all the good textures and flavors.

Top-notch 'cue and friendly folks. What more do you want? Tried the brisket sandwich and wife had the chicken sandwich. Brisket was incredibly tender and very flavorful . Ditto the chicken which had just the right amount of smokiness. The sandwich bread is soft white bread but sturdy enough to hold up to the juicy meat. The sauce is very good; Very little difference between the "hot" and "mild" versions. Ok to the sides: The coleslaw and baked beans were pretty good but the potato salad is great and the collard greens are MONEY! Someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing with those greens because they were cooked perfectly-Just to the point where the stems are tender but the leaves aren't yet mushy. That is not easy. also they have a really nice smoky pork note. All in all a fine establishment and if you like BBQ you gotta try it!

So delicious. Expect a wait, be patient, and don't be rude if you find yourself waiting like the lady waiting outside with me. The food is delicious and worth the wait. The cornbread, Mac and cheese, and greens are among the best I've tasted. The brisket and pulled pork hold up compared to many of my native Texas barbeque spots. The people there are super nice.

OMG! I was driving on Rainier this morning and saw that her doors were so I yelped the place and she had wonderful reviews. I placed an order over the phone and it was ready in half an hour. Good reviews don't do this restaurant justice. I've eaten a lot of brisket in my day, but hands down the moistest, most flavorful I've had. and, super nice people. I'm definitely eating here again!

Holy smokes! That was amazing BBQ! I had the brisket meal with cornbread, Coleslaw, and greens. This family owned business is definitely a great place to eat. Very nice and friendly too. I'm definitely coming back!

Meat was tender and juicy with lots of flavor! Side dishes also were also very tasty and seasoned just right. I will be back!

I grew up in this neighborhood and my parents still live here, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to try Emma's BBQ. All I can say is -- wow. Completely blown away by the food and service. (The mac and cheese is life changing.) We ordered the pulled pork sandwich (the bread they use is so, so soft and perfect for the sandwich), pulled pork dinner, cornbread, collard greens, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. To say I was stuffed after I inhaled everything in 7 minutes is an understatement. We got the mild sauce, which was excellent. Trying the hot sauce next time. Can't wait to go back this weekend!
