Walla Walla has a cool downtown and this hotel is the centerpiece. We stayed one night, the room was adequate if not completely average with a slight musty odor. The hotel bar service was acceptable although not fantastic.
The problem that I have with this hotel is the reservation system and hidden charges. I booked a king room for the advertised price 217.00, but when I got to the final click to rent the room there were many other charges, including over 50 dollars in taxes and fees (not sure what those fees were?), there were other lodging charges and local taxes, as well as an amenity charge of 25 bucks. Total bill for the hotel was 321.00 more that 100 dollars more than the advertised rate. This is false advertising. While I probably wouldn't be writing a review had I not felt fleeced by the nefarious extra changes. Caveat Emptor!

This is NOT a “premier luxury hotel”! The darkest dreariest hotel I have ever stayed in. The furniture is highly outdated. The carpets are stained. The mattresses are as firm as cardboard. The bathrooms should be renovated. Outdated sinks, showers, and toilets. The lobby is just an overload of old furniture and paint chipping off the ceiling. Housekeeping left our hotel room door ajar one entire afternoon. I feel like I stayed in a dark cave for 3 nights. Imagine staying in a room with charcoal grey ceilings and olive green walls. The only thing good about this hotel is its location. I do not recommend this old hotel and will not stay here next time we return to Walla Walla

Location is great and the bar is nice. However, the rooms were very old and dated. They were dark and musty. Elevator broke down during our stay so we had to walk several flights of stairs with our luggage. No one in our extended party got their room cleaned unless they complained to the manager. If you decide to stay, choose a tower wing room.

We had lunch there, and it was perfect.

This is an old-style hotel in that the grandeur of the lobby far outshines that of the rooms.

Didn't stay here, just ate at The Marc, but the lobby was beautiful. (Food and service were wonderful.)

The lobby, restaurant and bar area are beautiful. We had a Marc Tower room which was spacious and nicely decorated, but could have been anywhere. No indication we were in wine country- no wine glasses, corkscrew or even small fridge in the room. There was a major water leak while we were there, and although handled nicely by the staff, would have been nice to recieve some compensation for the inconvenience from management. The location is excellent. Close to restaurants, tasting rooms and wandering Main St.

We were thrilled with our stay at the Marcus Whitman! The hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was so friendly and helpful. It is centrally located, a quick two block walk to Main Street filled with restaurants and shopping. Their restaurant The Marc serves fantastic Belgian Waffles. There was coffee in room and in the lobby for seconds (and thirds!). We couldn’t have asked for anything more!

We stayed in the historical tower for Mothers day weekend and the room was excellent. Our front desk agent, Theresa, was even more exceptional and very kind. She even called the room after we settled in to make sure, we were pleased with it. We would definitely stay here again. At a time where great customer service seems so rare, we were happily surprised by Therese's attentive and amazing care.
