Store was an absolute mess. Said online they had 6 of what I needed in stock. Employees were unable to locate any of them. All similar items were sold out. (Other than the ones which were double the price) Employees guaranteed that they were somewhere in the store but after an hour of searching still nothing. Poorly managed store, very unorganized and piles of junk seemingly everywhere, blocking aisles and sections. Just go to menards and pay the little extra and save yourself the hassle.

They have lots of good stuff. Love the stock locations and counts listed on website

I rented a Rug Doctor to clean my carpet. The employee, Rita was so helpful & nice. I was amazed how clean my carpet came out. Especially having a very active Blue Healer. Thanks H.D. & sweet Rita.

The Home Depot is still Madison's go to store for quality home improvement supplies, but I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon. The measures they've put in place to keep their staff and their customers safe during the pandemic are meager at best. Staff don't wear masks, most customers don't wear masks, and the traffic flow and waiting area around the returns desk and the paint department is a nightmare. Get your act together Home Depot! I told myself years ago that I'd never set foot in a Menards store again but they're seeming like the more sensible company right now.

I placed an online order and tried curb side pick up. After I got into the system and said curb side pick up, it then rang for nearly 8 minutes. I decided to go in. I waited in the pick up line for about 20 minutes, but there was not a lot of people picking up... The line just never moved. I told the guy 6ft from me that I can walk and pick up my stuff and be out of here before I get my pick up order. Disappointing execution by this home depot. This is not the first time at home depots with subpar service

Went to get a sheet of plywood cut into 4 and was told they shut the saws off on weekends. So the busiest days of the week for home owners and we can't get lumber cut??? Dumb idea!!!! I can go elsewhere

I don't know if it's Home Depot corporate policy or just the management of the East Side Madison store, but I did NOT feel safe picking up my order today nor did I feel that Home Depot is taking the COVID-19 pandemic seriously. No employees were wearing masks. The floor was marked with boxes to indicate where customers should stand 6 feet apart, but there were tall rolling shelves filled with flowers blocking the main aisle between products and registers, making it impossible to maintain an appropriate distance from employees and other customers. The first employee helping me with my order took my phone out of my hand (she was not wearing gloves or a mask) without my permission to see my order number and only asked after the fact if that was OK. I certainly understand that it's difficult to be a retail employee at this time and don't blame any individuals I interacted with today, rather the store seemed incredibly poorly managed at either the store or corporate levels (or both). Avoid it if you can! I will going forward.

The East Madison store seems to have persistent staffing problems with cashiers. It's not a "one off" situation, because I have encountered it multiple times over the past several years. I went to the store last night at 7:20PM to buy two, large bags of potting soil and two bags of lava rock. When I entered the store, I discovered that there were no carts. I asked the young lady at the door if they had any carts for customers. She looked and said with a very bored tone of voice, "No, they must all be outside." Since she was a store employee whose sole function was to watch the entrance, one would think that she would have ensured that more carts were being brought in and sanitized as the supply was depleted. Since I couldn't do my shopping that night due to no carts, I proceeded to the exit door. I noticed that once again there were no cashiers staffed. Every checkout lane was closed. The only option was self-checkout with the touch screens. In light of the current pandemic, that is not a customer friendly option. Germs love touch screens. I went back to the store this afternoon at about 3:30PM. The store was packed with customers, so social distancing was very difficult if not impossible. That was what I was trying to avoid by going last night. After I loaded my purchases in a cart, I went to the service desk and asked to speak to a manager. The gentleman paged Wendy to the desk. Wendy was very empathetic and understood my frustration with the lack of cashiers on multiple occasions. She told me that they were having difficulty retaining staff. After I explained everything to Wendy and gave her my contact information, I went to the only open checkout lane in the store. I was fourth in line. Before the line moved forward, a staff member closed the gate at the checkout and told all of us that the checkout lane was now closed. It was the only one open! She said everyone had to use the self-checkouts. The store was packed with customers in the middle of the afternoon, and there were now no cashiers working. I went back to the service desk and asked the same gentleman I spoke with before to page Wendy back. I explained to him what had just happened. Instead of being empathetic or apologizing, he adopted a very surly attitude and said, "Well, our employees need breaks, too!" While that is true, good customer service means ensuring that someone else is available to replace the person going on break. Not everyone can take their break at the same time. When Wendy returned, I told her what had happened. She was visibly frustrated over the situation and strode toward the checkout lanes. I followed. She found one lane with a cashier who was working with another customer. She told me to go there to check out even though the light over the checkout lane was turned off suggesting it was closed. After about a minute, the cashier looked at me and said she was closed! I told her that the manager had just told me to get in her line to check out. Wendy then came back over and logged on to the adjacent cash register to check me out. I have never seen such a poorly staffed and managed store in my life. The fact that this is happening more and more often at this particular store tells me that management is not addressing the problem. The store is conveniently located for me, but the customer service there is deplorable.

No store employees wear masks. No social distancing at all. Complete disregard for safety procedures. I know the pandemic has become a political thing but I'm not sure why being careful and thoughtful about other people's well-being isn't being practiced. I asked the manager about why associates weren't wearing masks and he said their is no law requiring them to do so. I said Home Depot and other stores regularly make employees wear store uniforms etc so I wasn't sure why a law would be necessary. Unfortunately I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Was told paint would be mixed in 5 min. After a half-hour, left without product. Nearly was late for an appointment. Don't overpromise! As we waited, we watched the one guy at the paint station working very slowly and making small talk with other employees.

Impatient and rude associate attitude. Associate coughed into their hand multiple times without washing or sanitizing, then handed me my order. Also had difficulty finding my order despite me providing my name, order number, and even item location provided by other employee.)

Well, Home Depot is Home Depot. What else can I say. In Wisconsin you have many choices. We have Menards, Lowes, Fleet Farm, Farm & Fleet and Home Depot. Everyone a man's mall. I find that they are all about the same. Nice employees, competitively priced, a good selection of home related products. I usually go to whichever is closest at time of need. Today it was HD, so that's where I went. Unfortunately, they didn't have what I was looking for. They did have it available on their website, but not in the store. Maybe next time.

Won’t be ordering carpet from Home Depot again. Not only was their contractor late by 6 hours, they damaged my wall while installing, and I’ve been trying to get them to take responsibility for it for almost a week. Home Depot won’t return my calls, manager at Madison East won’t return my calls, crew2 has said they have talked to me personally when they haven’t. I won’t be recommending Home Depot for ANY service.

Who doesn't love The Home Depot! Great selection, no matter what you are looking for. The employees are always smiling and willing to help.

Good selection. Difficult to get assistance. Not enough staff for a very large building. If you can find it yourself and know what you're are looking for it's good.

Nephew was caught stealing a pair of snips. The loss prevention apprehended him right outside the door and retrieved the snips back. Then they asked him to go inside and he said no so he started to walk away and they approached him. So he started to run. They tackled him he got up and got away in they tackled him again, and somehow he got up again and they did not try to touch him again. So he started walking away pretty fast got out to the sidewalk left the property of home depot and they stop following him. He went About 2 Blocks down to a restaurant and was sitting in there and all of sudden The Home Depot security guards come in there and approach him again. They waves down police officers and held him against his will. I think the Security guards fail to realize that At a point whether on the property where they are security guards at And especially when thay are off that property they are nothing more than a citizen. They are not police officers and they cannot do what police officers do. But they tend to think they can. Home depot corporate was contacted. And my whole concern was the fact that The security officers were permitted to leave The Home Depot property and pursue a teen over a $15 item that was retrieved by the security guards. The teenager was no longer on the property. It is not only my opinion but it is fact that when you pursue someone you do not know who that person is. They can be just a teenager who can do no harm or it can be someone who has a criminal or who is wanted or who is on parole that does not want anything to do with going with the security guards and will do whatever is necessary to prevent that. And I told home depot this very thing. When you are pursuing somebody it can be very likely that that person May have a gun or a knife or a weapon of some kind and does not have any intentions of going with you. So when somebody is in a restaurant and security approaches this person there is no telling what he is liable to do. I'm sorry but at that point the security guards because they have chosen to pursue somebody off the premises where they work to the point where they are willing to go into a restaurant it is then that the public safety is at risk. The Person trying to prevent himself from being approached or apprehended by the security guards can very likely take a gun or a knife to fend off the security guards and in the process it is very possible that members of the public can be put in danger hurt or harmed in some way or even worse. But home depot does not seem to care or be concerned at all with their policy of allowing their security guards to Chase someone off the property 2,3,4 blocks away, Even after that already retrieved the item,And in the process putting the public at risk for something stupid to happen. I asked this question directly and they said that the only thing that they are concerned about is their property or items that were taken and getting them retrieved. In the process of them saying that they're basically admitting that they can care less what happens to somebody who may just be an innocent Bystandard. Because that is exactly what customer service rep that answered the phone told me. He said it was actually their policy. I don't know about anybody else, but if me and my wife were having lunch or dinner in a restaurant and home depot security guards came into that restaurant in pursuit of somebody who stoled a little item from their store and that person who stole it pulled out a gun and started shooting to get away or started acting very violent with a knife or anything else and we were to get hurt at all there would be Some major issues. I do not understand at all how home depot thinks that they can put the public safety at risk. They are willing to admit and it is their policy that their items and Capturing somebody who Stole a 15 or $20 item, Is put ahead of and is more important then the safety of the public. And if anybody does not believe me when I am saying this please do call home depot corporate and they will tell you this them
