Website says they open at 6am. Got there at 7am, and all of the doors are locked. Defeats the purpose of selling bait if you aren't going to be open.

Website says 6am opening waited till after 715 to get bait....this really messes with people's plans when next nearest place is over 20 miles away

Nice and convenient location not far from the lake. They have the essentials to save you a trip to town if you forgot something basic. The place is kind of cramped, but if you need worms/nightcrawlers, minnows, or shiners then you'll be in luck. This place is not a sports shop in the sense of having tons of inventory, but for the basics its perfect!

I came to this area in June of 2020 and wanted to fish and float the East Fork of the Black river. I was staying at the East Fork campground. The owner of Hatfield Sports was great, he suggested they follow me back to the campground where I was staying and drop my car off. Then ride with them to the put in. Upon finishing the float trip, which ended at the East Fork campground, I could just leave the canoe there and they would come get it. I simply had to walk back to my campsite and give them a call when I was done....OK! I will always use these folks for as long as I keep coming to the Black river area.As for the the river …I wanted to float East Fork because of the lack of, well much of anything besides nature. I saw 2 cabins and a bridge in about 8 hours time. Gives a sense of what things were like way back when. Very cool. The fishing didn't lead to much catching that day but the scenery made up for that.I probably won't float this river again, for the simple reason that the Black river is a much better fishery and will be doing that next.

Rented one canoe from Hatfield Sports Shop for a short outing during vacation. Staff were very helpful and suggested a great spot to put the canoe in. They transported the canoe to the boat ramp while we followed in our vehicle. Their price was reasonable at $20 for a half day. We paddled around in nearby Arnold Creek and Lake Arbutus. The canoe and equipment was all in good condition for rental equipment. We had no issues with the rental and would consider renting again if in the area.
