Hands down best Mexican restaurant in Sauk. Very inviting, great service and there are too many great options to choose from.

Amazing food, service was amazing!! The drinks were wonderful. We went with my family and as soon as we walked in, they treated us like family. The chips and salsas to start were 10/10. The margarita sampler was to die for. I got the burrito, rest of family got quesadillas or the tacos. They all raved about their food as well. Real authentic Mexican food and great price. We will be back. Thank you La Mexicana

Love this restaurant. Fantastic abuela home style Mexican food. You will feel like home. Good quality, made fresh. The plates were not hot, which means the food is made fresh. As it should be. And you can’t beat the prices. Deliciosa!

This restaurant is outstanding. The best mexican food I've had in the area. I highly recommend it! I would get the pork and steak burrito or the pork tacos. :)

Have been coming here over 10 yrs now.Since I'm from out of town, don't get a chance to taste this excellent cuisine with any regularity.Today I had the chicken and cheese quesadillas, with lettuce & tomato on the side. Also a taco with ground beef, and a tostada with chorizo - Mexican sausage. The tostada was piled high with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream.Served with Salsa Verde and red taco sauce on the side, and a Pepsi.Everything was prepped to perfection & absolutely delicious. All fresh ingredients as I've known for many years now.Try their corn tamales if you can, very fresh and made with chicken, beef, or chorizo. The decor is very much an expression of Mexican national spirit, with beverages you'd expect (Modelo beer). I posted pix of the paintings by artists- hecho en Mexico. All the colors are rich and vaguely reminiscent of the murals of José Clemente Orozco & Diego Rivera.Parking: Found several free street parking spots within 30 ft of entrance midday, probably bit problematic at the dinner hours.Kid-friendliness: Several families with children were there in mid afternoon in mid week, so I'm sure it's well received by kids.

Listen , this place is the real deal. I've lived in Wisconsin for 18yrs and the one thing missing is authentic good Mexican food. I've lived in TX and Chicago Illinois and this food ranks high on my list. Don't fall for the touristy places where the building itself is much better but for me the so called hole in the wall places have the best food. This place won't let you your tummy down.

Fun friendly staff. We ordered the burrito suiza & quesadillas, very good! Modelo, marg & marg flight (you pick the flavors), which was fun to try. Would love to come back, but live too far away. Thank you!Their accompanying red & green sauces rocked.

What a nice place! The staff was very friendly and the food was good. Best part was my daughter said these were some of the best chicken fajitas she has ever had and she gets them everywhere! I couldn’t help but help myself to them and I completely agree. Don’t let the outside fool you. Definitely a place to try.

We are new to the area.My wife and I very much enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine. We were told La Mexicana served amazing food.Perhaps it was an off night... our server had very little knowledge of the menu, was not at all personable, and missed the little yet important things like asking us if we wanted water & did not bring us more chips/salsa before our meal was served as we had asked of him.We ordered enchiladas & flautas which are very basic and a common order, especially for a first visit. The primary course was bland and the rice & bean sides were as if they came off the shelf. We might go back, but I doubt it because none of the staff seemed to have a customer first attitude.Time to step it up staff & management, especially at the end of the night.
