From Literacy Council of Benton County

We are a nonprofit 501(c) corporation created in 1972 to provide free literacy training to adults aged 18 and over. We train volunteer Tutors and provide them with teaching materials and support resources. We offer programs in Adult Basic English and English as a Second Language. Our students set personal goals and their lesson plans are designed to help them achieve proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English at a 9th grade level. We are a member of the Adult Learning Alliance of Arkansas, a partnership of community-based literacy councils throughout the state, and belong to ProLiteracy, the national adult literacy advocacy network.
