“Terrance Ness at the Eureka,CA branch was incredibly professional, consistent, and knowledgeable. He helped me solve a banking issue that I have been struggling to have resolved for a while. Banking can feel very impersonal at times these days, and Terrance has made me feel like a valued customer and given me the personal care that is rare sometimes in the modern business world. Wells Fargo is lucky to have you on their team. Mike the branch manager in Eureka also took the time to speak with me on the phone and help me. Thanks guys ?”

“This was by far my favorite Umpqua location. I never felt unsafe at the ATM if I had to go after hours, and the tellers were always very friendly and helpful. I can't stand the one on 5th St and since I work in Eureka, the Arcata location is rather inconvenient.”

“Can't say enough good things about our experience getting two home loans through Umpqua. Our lender Barbie Turnbaugh helped us secure a refinance for our current home (so we could keep it and rent it out) as well as a loan for our dream home. Barbie stuck with us for FIVE MONTHS of misc hurdles. She never lost her patience or enthusiasm in helping us reach our goals. When she was out of town for a rare business trip her assistant Stacey was wonderful to work with as well. Five stars!”

“I moved into the neighborhood in Dec 2022. The market immediately reminded me of many corner stores that center on beer sales in cities. Produce was emergency buy only. Some products looked out of date. The sandwich I bought was weak. I now understand the prior owner managed it differently and was loved. Since then I have spoken to the newer owner and a long term employee about the difference. I think they are now trying harder. They didn't buy the market to make it fail or to degrade it. I notice a much more friendly attitude recently. I think they realize the gold in this goose came from the products and services and the loyal customers. It is not like the owner's properties in other towns. They told me that they want to make it the very local choice for weekly grocery shoppers. There are a lot of older non-drivers in the local blocks. The produce looks better recently. The meat looks better. Maybe not my choice for the big weekly shopping (WINCO) but it is starting to get close and I am buying the non-big shop there. They have what they need in terms of space and facility. And the owner is changing slowly as he sees the demand. If we want this store to meet our needs, then I suggest telling them directly what is wanted. I know them well enough to know they respect direct communication and will try to meet it. If you want the outdoor grill, ask. There is a fee they would need to pay to the city. But if we ask, I think they would. But if we ask, then be prepared to support! Bottom line: unknown today. It is up to them and us. And if successful, there won't be a them and us. Only us. I say, give them business and see if they can be genuine Humboldt like before or better.”
