Heartwarming little restaurant! Definitely Americanized Italian cuisine, but not bad nonetheless.Very polite staff and cozy interior.

Friends get together monthly to enjoy a meal and we appreciate/seek out varied menu options, excellent food and service in a pleasing atmosphere. Pro Bono provides all these attributes and is an outstanding dining venue.

Cafe Pro Bono is Palo Alto’s crowning jewel for exceptional Italian food. For over 28 years we’ve served a wide variety of authentic, reasonably priced Italian and European dishes using only the best organic ingredients available.
As the recipient of Palo Alto Weekly’s ‘Best Italian Restaurant’ in 2021 and 2022, we’re extremely proud and grateful for our wonderful, loyal 'CPB Family'. Our menu includes delicious, attractively presented appetizers, fresh pastas, fresh fish, steaks, chicken, salads, paninis and homemade desserts. About the restaurant: Café Pro Bono's comfortable dining room hums with the jubilant chatter of regulars and the restaurant's traditional menu answers the call for a romantic dinner or a weeknight respite from a harried day.Food & Drinks: "Susan's Downfall," the unofficial signature dish available as a starter or entrée, boasts plump raviolis with Gorgonzola sauce crowned with crispy toasted almonds. Pastas and entrées don't surprise, but they do satisfy. The wine list, which includes a nice selection of wines by the glass as well as over a dozen half-bottles, focuses on California and Italy. Service is attentive.
