Fabulous food, iskender was great. 4 stars and not 5 because my husband left his sunglasses on the table and we were told they “don’t have them” when we called to ask. Overall, authentic af. Will still go back.

Cute nice Turkish restaurant in San Francisco downtown. I got combo grill and kunefe, which were absolutely delicious and above my expectations. The prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommended.

Finally a place that serves beyti. Not the best but haven’t seen it in other Turkish joints so that gets 5 stars.
A la Turca is a gem. Not a bright shiny one, but a simple space with exotic food. The best way to try its delights is to have the combo platter for two: hummus, baba ghanouj, eggplant salad, ezme (a walnut, tomato and pepper dip), a white bean salad and dolmas. For dinner, go for one of the lamb and beef shwarma or the lahmacun, A la Turca's version of a meat pizza without the heavy tomato sauce. Flatbread fans will enjoy Turkish pides, made with many different toppings including beef, potatoes and cheese. Take out only, no delivery.
