This place has such amazing food! When we got there, a lot of workers there for lunch, place was very busy, we felt fairly sure the food was good. Wish there was one of these in San diego, what a hidden little gem!

We stopped by while driving up the coast. We got the 8 piece chicken meal which came with beans, rice, salsa, and tortillas. There was a bar with more salsas, jalapeños, pickled onions, and salsa. It was absolutely delicious.

Santa Barbara Chicken Ranch offers a simple menu of chicken and tri-tip grilled over mesquite charcoal --- the restaurant's claim to fame. They are offered in a variety of ways, including burritos, for example, but whatever the order, you will receive the exact same sides: pinto beans, rice, and either flour or corn tortillas. The chicken's flavor is predominately salty with a hint of acid from lemon-lime, which doesn't permeate the chicken but fills out the taste. Tri-tip uses the same seasonings, but has a more pronounced salty, citrus and spice element. The place is very popular with locals, especially at lunch when the lines get long. Also located at 163 N. Fairview Ave., Goleta, 805-692-9200; and 4020 E. Main St., Ste. E10, Ventura, 805-658-8582.
