This family-run café is all about small town charm and hearty home-style food. A Ventura mainstay for 30-plus years, Allison's is best known for its breakfasts: waffles, grits, good ol' biscuits and gravy and more. You'll find fluffy buttermilk hotcakes with additions like granola, blueberry, banana nut, pumpkin nut and chocolate chip. California- and Mexican-style omelets are also available, as are morning classics like steak and eggs. The restaurant sells its homemade jams as well. Lunch, too, draws a crowd, but the traditional offerings of burgers, sandwiches and salads are not nearly as popular as breakfast.
