Nestled in the Goodwives shopping plaza in Darien, Cesco’s Trattoria’s easy location can’t be beat. I came in on a Friday evening looking for an authentic and delicious Italian meal and I was not disappointed. I started with a glass of savignon blanc, although there are plenty of options for all wine connoisseurs. My server and staff were attentive and charming. I even had the pleasure of meeting Aldo the owner, who was kind and had great spirit. I could just tell how much he loved being there and enjoyed offering a good experience. He treated me to a lovely aperitivo place and bruschetta on the house. For my entree, I chose the Lemon fettuccine with grilled shrimp. This was the perfect summer pasta choice! It was filling and satisfying, yet light with blended notes of lemon, garlic and tomato. Also it had a great pasta to shrimp ratio with 5 jumbo shrimp encased by a nice mound of pasta. Lastly, I ended on the tiramisu, which my server pointed out is a dessert that originally comes from Aldo’s region of Italy. I could tell that his family must have an authentic recipe. Very fluffy upon the first bite and not heavily weighed down by strong coffee notes. It was delightfully light and sweet. Overall, very impressed with the cuisine and will be back soon! Thanks for the great experience!

Absolute hidden gem that you wouldn't expect in a shopping plaza. I chose to come in on a whim for a glass of wine on a summer evening and was pleasantly surprised. My server, Keith, was attentive and charming from the get go, and highly knowledgeable of the menu. Started with a glass of sauvignon blanc with bruschetta served on the house. The wine list covered all bases and all glasses are served as large 9 oz servings, if you're interested in that sort of thing. Otherwise, the food is outstanding so either way you won't be disappointed. My entree of choice was the handmade tagliatelle bolognese, which was not only scrumptious but evoked a sense of elevated coziness. Very satisfying! Prices are a bit steep so be warned, but typical of Darien, CT. The waitstaff was friendly and I definitely plan on coming back soon to see Keith and Jose. Thanks for great experience, Cesco's!

A popular Italian restaurant with good reason - great food, nice decor - but tables can be a little close and the staff overwhelmed on busy evenings. Again, very good food, but had to leave the last two times I attempted to eat there as it was just too hectic. Would not recommend for a business dinner. Perhaps try earlier in the week.

Bread pudding to die for!! Chris out waiter was attentive and pleasant. A hidden gem in the rough. Located in Stop and Shop parking lot, so plenty of parking. Sandwiched in between Aux Delices and Coromandel. Delectable dishes and the ambience is inviting and reminiscent of Tuscany Italy

I hate to write a bad review as the owner is very nice and this is apparently the only high end restaurant in this high end town, BUT: my ossobucco was dried out, the main bone was upside down - so there was almost nothing in it, and instead of two pieces of meat, I got one piece and some other lump of bone. (I didn't realize this until the next day when I tried to eat the contents of my 'doggie bag'.) This was a Saturday night! We weren't impressed with the wait staff either - seemed inexperienced and unantentive for a high end establishment. We asked the younger short male server for some serving spoons for our salads that we were splitting three ways - and he completely forgot us. I give it three starts instead of two (given the high expectations), because we have very much enjoyed this restaurant in the past.
