“I have been here 2 times so far. Once in Dec for my dog's new patient/annual check up/vax appointment and once in Feb due to an eye issue my dog was having. Both times I was very impressed and happy with their service & care!I know they might "busy" but I never felt that when I was there. The have owners/pets call in from lanai upon arrival. Each time I have only ever seen one other pet. After being taken in, you wait in a private room. The way they have themselves set up it makes it seem like you are the only owner/pet there. I found it to be a surprisingly peaceful vet experience. The front desk are friendly and helpful with scheduling. The estimates I have requested can sometimes take a few days to get. Each time I requested to have an estimate of charges ahead of time they did send it. This is helpful to know the approximate cost prior to the appointment. So that was good. For the recent eye issue appointment, I was able to text the office in the morning and got a response right away! I was so thankful for this. I think I was lucky, but I was able to get a same day appointment and it relieved a lot of stress for me to have my dog seen right away. The vet techs that did the intake upon arrival were thorough in questioning and listened to what I had to share about my dog. After the intake, they do take your pet to the back without you for the exam/vaccination/diagnostics - which is different than my previous vet. (Previous vet I was able to be in room during exam/vax with Vet & techs and I liked that). At first I was uneasy with not being able to be in the room but I am okay with it. I imagine it allows them to do their job uninterrupted which is important. I have never seen or gone back to where they do the exams so I cannot comment on the exam rooms nor their handing of my pet during the exams. But I did really like Dr. Head's consults with me afterward! After both visits, Dr. Head met with me for about 10-15 minutes to discuss what he observed, what they did with my dog and treatment plan. He was calm, informative and unrushed. I really appreciate the time he took both times to speak with me and explain things so I understood. The most recent time he was there, he walked my dog back with him and the dog came in with the biggest smile and tail wagging! Dr. Head was giving him puppy love and I was so happy to see it!The day after the eye issue appointment, I received a follow up email checking on my dog. Again, I really appreciate that thoroughness and commitment to care the Keauhou Veterinary team shows.I did get a copy of my dog's vaccinations after my Dec appointment but I had requested a "After Care Summary" or a copy of my dog's medical records a few times but have yet to receive it.Overall, I am really happy with the vet grounds, the staff and Dr. Head! Keauhou Veterinary Hospital is well operated and you can tell each team member cares. I am thankful to have them as my vet!”

“Dr. Head is one of the best vets I've ever worked with. He really cares, and will take the time to explain his reasoning. The prices her are also extremely reasonable.”

“Dr. Milnes took excellent care of my senior Pomeranian. She was patient, kind and very knowledgeable through all of my dog’s ailments over the past year. She was always very honest and laid out all options available for us. I cannot thank her enough for making my Sophie’s last year as comfortable as we could make it considering her age.”

“We have been taking our dog Mahina since we got her (about 7 weeks old) she is now almost two. They provide fast, reliable, and accurate services. I'm baffled on how excited she is to go to the vet! We will definitely be lifetime customers!”

“We moved here during Covid and were lucky to book Mahana for grooming our Bichon-poodle Jasper. She does a terrific job clipping him and styling him. He loves seeing her, so we know she treats him kindly. Mahana is very professional and gives us pretty accurate timing and always contacts us prior to him being ready.”

“My first day on my vacation, I came to the Big Island for respite. Upon arrival to my VRBO the Onion House (highly recommend it), I came across an injured Zebra Dove with a full broken wing. I was able to capture the dove and called the wildlife center. They were most helpful but couldn't do much for me in the moment. They recommended calling local vets in my area. I kept the bird as comfortable as possible overnight and the next day called three different vets. The first two were rather curt in their responses about only caring for dogs and cats. One did mention Ali'i Veterinary as possibly caring for birds. I called and left a message and they got right back to me. Phaedra was amazing in her caring and sympathetic tone which was perfect for this occasion. Although it was a wild bird, I was still emotional as I knew it needed to be euthanized. I brought the dove down to their clinic. Phaedra came and took it away. She came back and asked if I wanted to take the bird back with me after. I did not, though if I had been at home I would have. When Phaedra came back the third and last time, she thanked me for doing the right thing. I offered to pay, and she made it clear what had done was payment enough. This is the most caring veterinary group! I strongly recommend them. Mahalo Nui Loa”

“Amazing. I took my cat for a suspected urinary infection, and Dr. Kawamoto was excellent at assessing her temperament, giving a routine exam, and prescribing needed antibiotics. Short and to the point, asking relative questions. The cost was pleasing. Very happy.”
