“Why Joe's is awesome for Smoketown, in three bullet points. - They sell eggs and milk and have big specials like "$99 meat order" and "$59 meat order", and they will make you a custom sandwich. - It's mostly food with only a little beer. - Their motto on every flyer: "When They Tear Down the Projects, Joe's Will Still Be Open!!!" The only concern? Not a place for fruits or veggies. The last time I was in here, I think I saw one head of iceberg lettuce. Things you're more likely to see here instead of a zucchini: - cake frosting - bologna - pizza rolls - Crisco - Kool Aid Jammers - cigarettes Nevertheless, our corner of Louisville lost its Kroger and lost its Save-A-Lot. Save-A-Lot still distributes its weekly circulars in the mail even though the closest location is on Dixie Highway. Who in Smoketown is going to want to go to Dixie Highway just to go to Save-A-Lot? Joe's is there, in a pinch.”

“Nice little convenience store that's open when alot of other things aren't in this part of town. Me and my wife stopped in late night because we were staying at a hotel a block away, and she had a sweet tooth that she wasn't fixing to let go of. Stocked full of anything you're looking for and the guy behind the counter was smooth and easy going so it was a pleasant transaction. Would stop here again.”

“I never thought that I would be writing a review for a convenience store but I feel compelled to write about this one. First, its location is primo - in the heart of St. Matthews. And while St. Matthews has a lot going on, it lacks convenience stores and/or bodegas. In addition, the owner and the employees are always super friendly and kind. More than once I have forgotten my wallet and they let me take my items anyway, knowing I will come back as a loyal customer. When they were out of their fried chicken, they fried some just for us. They have also been doing a lot of remodeling, so the place offers even more products. It's just a great little store in a convenient location.”

“I have to say... I enter a lot of Speedway gas stations, all over Kentucky. But on this occasion and this location...the one right between the Hyundai and Toyota dealerships in St. Matthews, I was fortunate enough to meet, RAND.A large Burly man in his mid to late 40's with a tathered red & black flannel shirt, well worked industrial blue jeans, boots and an old bent up blue trucker hat that brought color to his salt n pepper beard. If Paul Bunyan had a twin, Rand would be him.I walked in, and was thrown off by the greeting ."Evenin." He stared at me while chugging half of his super big gulp in one sip."Hey.." I responded.."these dogs have seen their last days, huh?" I asked, referring To the hot dogs rotating on the hot rollers.Rand perked up like a puppy that just heard an unfamiliar sound."Those dogs are about to go out to the trash... " he said with grief. "I just hate to see a perfectly good dog go down like that".I stared at the wrinkly old set of dogs..and looked up at Rand with a hmph.."I'll buy em all.. “I got a double egg pepper jack on a biscuit it was very delightful. The fellow that rang me out is Richard very nice and pleasant. The other fella Mike always has a wonderful attitude. Some weird lady was staring at me Through a window I waved at her and she laughted at me but would not wave back. I’ll visit the store on the daily it is my neighborhood store.”

“Quick stop and continued outside after paying, to begin fueling my vehicle. Unfortunately, I had to return inside to inform that I needed 89 octane. So note: you must inform them of any octane other than 87. You must tell them that you want the other of the two grades whether it be 89 by saying "midgrade", or 92 being "premium" grade. 87 is "regular" grade. This is one of the few places in town that you must state which you wish if you pay inside. I asked other places and they look at me as if I was speaking in another language. So this is one of the very few that still requires you to state the grade if you pay INSIDE.”

“It's always been a great convenience store, but now it's even better because they have real slot machines that pay real money not stupid door prizes or merchandise. The store itself has been a Louisville staple for the specialized "items" you can't get at other stores 24/7 plus they are always well stocked with munchie food. Don't know why the bathrooms are getting such a bad rap in other reviews as I found them to be clean and tidy this evening and the clerk was nice as always. Gas is a few cents higher here always. I assume because they are on the interstate and there is no competition around at all. I don't know how they are getting away with the gambling machines but kudos to them!”

“I made the visit to Walgreens today for my booster shot. Before stepping in I was wowed at the parking lot this spot has ... in the Highlands! Prime real estate for its customers and staff. Closely monitored as well. The pharmacy team was amazing. I was checked in right away alongside another customer. Upon signing a form I was taken back to another room for my shot. I was thankful to learn that if I lose my card that I can likely get another from Walgreens since all my vaccines have been there. I took a small spin around the store, which was very clean and organized. My favorite area will forever be the make up aisles - a small joy that trickles over from childhood and shopping at Walgreens with my mom. Another highlight is the card aisle and if you need a quick gift they also keep gift cards stocked. It's a great spot to print off pictures as well. Thank you Walgreens for helping me to stay healthy!”

“Decent neighborhood corner store. Reminds me of the type that used to be around before all of these corporate chain gas stations hit and took over completely shutting down all the mom and pop shops that just couldn't compete with prices because of the inability to order in bulk and buy cheaper therefore charging less. Staff is cool most of the time although most of the time the management squad is running the front area and sometimes can be somewhat short if that's the right word I'm looking for or maybe uninterested but in the end don't necessarily make you feel all that welcome. I've never personally had any issues but have seen others have opposite interactions with them. Not a huge selection of stuff but they do serve fried chicken and other lunch/dinner items on a small buffet line to take home in a to go container but only rate it a 4 out of 10 and usually not too great as far as taste and quality.”
