The animals, fossils exhibit, and lego and I spy fun were great for children and adults alike. The planetarium show about the moon was insightful and captured our attention. The lazer light show was a bit too loud, but the praise music was nice and the layers were intense!
From East Kentucky Science Center & Varia Planetarium
The East Kentucky Science Center opened in 2004, with a 40-foot dome planetarium, 3,000 square foot exhibit hall, classroom, and gift shop. EKSC creates and implements classroom and planetarium programming for K-12 school groups, higher education groups, general public, and special events. The Varia Planetarium is housed in the East Kentucky Science Center on the Prestonsburg campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College. The 85-seat venue consists of a GOTO-Chronos star machine, Digistar 7 planetarium system with 4-K projectors, and an AVI laser system.
