“I Absolutely love this place!! They always have the best fish to pick from, the best equipment to pick from as well, and of course fish food and other animal food too. You gotta stop in here and at least check it out.”

“Great place to wash my 70 lb GSD. Friendly staff, several wash tubs and groomers are available. Cost is by size, so $20 for my pup. Ten washes gets you a free wash. Great selection of pet food, treats and toys as well. Patronize a local business!”

“Laura is not only helpful but a delight to talk to. So happy to have found Irish rasher bacon and black and white puddings for an Irish breakfast fix away from Ireland. For any of those of you looking for kooky and classy objets then you’ve found the place. Can’t recommend the place enough!”

“Marissa is amazing with the animals. We’ve been trying to get our chiweeenie’s nails back in shape after they got a little too long. She is very patient with the animals and takes care to make sure the pet feels comfortable and safe and most impoerantly, he always gets a treat from someone in the store after the “trauma” of having his nails trimmed. LolStrongly reccomend but maybe call ahead to find out what time works for them, as they are simultaneously taking care of animals who had grooming appointments. Seems to be best to find out when is the best time to do a walk in nail trim as they are pretty busy.”

“Our favorite store in the old port!!! We try to visit a few times a month to restock on treats, toys, and supplies. Their collars are handmade and the best quality, even after 2 years they still look brand new. The owners are great people and truly love meeting all the pets that come into their store, always giving pets and treats to our dog when we visit.”

“We had a great experience with this location. After calling around multiple pet stores for a specific brand of food for our puppy, the staff here were attentive and responsive to our needs, and stayed open for a couple of minutes past 5pm to make sure that we could get our food. When picking up the food, the staff was friendly, and even talked us through the food and a medication our puppy was on. I never felt rushed or like an inconvenience, despite coming in at close.”

“Fish and Bone is exactly the type of pet store I would expect to find in Portland: locally owned, locally loved and locally supplied pet supplies. It is clear the owners love animals and their customers. Just about anything you could need for your pet you can find here. Can't find something in the store? The owners will do everything they can to get it for you. Free snacks for pets even if you don't have them with you. Location is great because it's right in the heart of everything so you don't have to drive miles to get stuff you may need.”

“My daughter and I stopped here well out for a ride. I didn't think a 11-year-old would find too much to look at here, but there is a lot to see. She really enjoyed some of the garden trinkets. It was her idea to stop. So I guess something in the yard that is on display caught her eye. Outside. They have these counterweight, eagles and other birds. They're like large lawn display things that move like real animals.I noticed they have a pretty good selection of dog related things. There's an entire corner room of the store just for dogs. There's another corner room for horse.I ended up buying one of those digital thermometers for my shop. I'm not sure if I needed it but I have been keeping my eye out for one that was both affordable and with fit in the spot where I want to put it.There are a couple people working the counter. They both seem to know exactly what was going on as far as when shipments were coming in and going as they spoke with other customers. I had no such questions.”

“Staff is always very friendly & helpful. They are happy to answer any questions about products you may have. Continently located, with plenty of parking, and never too busy.”

“What an incredibly funky business with the largest supply of pet & livestock supplies I've ever seen in one place. This is certainly not a slick franchise operation. They've been there for decades so the staff is not only super friendly but knowledgeable. Bring the kids because they usually have live chicks & bunnies for sale right outside the entrance..”

“Mike was able to fit my dog in the day after I called. He didn't try to upsell me or do anything that wasn't needed, and he was done in about an hour and a half. $37 for everything except a haircut (and he doesn't do teeth brushing) can't be beat!Edit: A little too much Thin Blue Line merch for my liking, decided to stop coming here”

“Very cute spot with creative pet toys and several adoptions for jackets etc.We were looking for royal or primal food-didn’t carry them. And didn’t have a huge selection of cat litter (not sure if it’s a back order thing or not).”

“Have a Huge selection of cat food, treats and toys. Plan on spending some time in there to look around. And there is a ginger cat who will love up on you and give you soft bites.”

“Thanks to the staff for allowing me and my potential adopter in for a meet and greet. I'm a foster mom from NH meeting an adopter from northern Maine. Great place!!! So much attention from staff and customers.”

“The staff has always been friendly here! But the selection of dog treats and toys could honestly be better! I go here for our regular dog food when I run out, but I go to other places for healthier dog treats, and more durable toy dogs. I have a bully bread that requires allergy friendly treats and indestructible toys that I just can't find here.”

“They carry quite a few brands and mostly in stock. Some items seem to be only available online. Went a couple of years without owning a dog... Prices went crazy in those 2 years but that's probably true everywhere.”

“Staff at the Windham, ME location are always exceptionally helpful. I had a bag of recalled dog food that I returned but forgot to take a photo of the UPC code for poof of purchase. I called the store and a member of staff took and photo and texted it to me from their personal cell phone & wished my sick puppy a speedy recovery. Above and beyond for customer service!”
