I came to Holmes Family Vet as a second opinion for my senior cat who had been acting very strange and the last vet I took her too could not offer any diagnosis and only offered pricey options to try and diagnose her. Dr. Smolka examined her and shared a possible diagnosis and spoke to me about different options to confirm her prediction and next steps I could take. This allowed me to make an informed decision and we were able to confirm Dr. Smolka’s prediction and take action from there. They treated my cat with so much love and care. I've never had a kitty with a chronic illness and they are great at supporting me through his care, letting me know what's concerning & what's a normal progression of the illness. It took visiting a few other Vets to find this one. This is the right fit for my kitties!”
“I love coming here. I am always offered an appointment within a day or two of calling. Dr. Anderson is wonderful. She treats my idiot cat like he is the most important guy on the planet every time we come for a visit. She helped him get better fast after a severe injury.”
“I had 2 health concerns regarding my 12 year old shih tsu. His hearing seemed to be failing and he was limping on his right front leg. As always the staff is caring and patient. I appreciate that treatment discussions included a conservative and less expensive approach. For now his hearing will be monitored and simple pain meds seem to be helping with the limp.”

Dr. Ruel is extremely compassionate and explained everything along the way putting us and Hershey at ease. We were able to do this at home in our yard in the sunshine which Hershey so loved. It was so much better than going to the clinical vet's office which Hershey hated. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Ruel that Hershey's last moments were calm and peaceful in a surrounding she loved. “By far the best vet experience I’ve ever had. I own a flock of Jumbo Pekins, and I couldn’t be more thankful to find such a compassionate vet and tech team! Avian vets are so hard to come by, and I’m so grateful to have found this office. The team is just absolutely amazing.
I brought my littlest girl in last week. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong and this weather hasn’t been too kind for a healthy flock to flourish. I found her unable to walk, limping severely, and not herself (she’s spicy). I took her in and the doc found a tiny puncture with mild swelling at the bottom of her foot. I would have never found this. She put her on anti inflammatories and miracles happened. Like, I mean, real miracles. She was not well.

Now, I was so impressed I brought the rest of the flock in today. Such a great day. First off, they served the ducks worm water cocktails upon arrival (their favorite! And pictured below). They got their little beaks and feet rubbed by the vet tech with oils because they were cracking a bit from this cold. My drake was so happy and stood so proud. Also, our household is so relieved to know they are doing good and super healthy.
