“I have to preface this review with the fact that I cannot give Herring Cove 5 stars ONLY because I know that it is owned by the same horrible corporate conglomerate that owns Eastham vet, and I see how they have destroyed the essence of a veterinary hospital which was wonderful for decades, and now is a catastrophe. Feel free to read my review on Eastham Vet separately from this.Today I will review my experience with the primary staff, with whom I have had contact, at Herring Cove Veterinary Hospital.Although I have never actually walked into Herring Cove, we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Larned when she was working for the day in Eastham. What a breath of fresh air! Our pet (Shadow) was very ill and I was so worried when we came in. Dr. Larned was extremely knowledgeable and supportive, while investigating the whole health issues of Shadow, through a very sad and frustrating time. I felt so confident in Dr. Larned’s abilities that I reached out to ask their opinion even when Shadow was admitted to South Shore Emergency Hospital. Makaila (I apologize if I spelled that wrong), the receptionist at Herring Cove, was warm, caring, and understanding when I frequently called for some insight from Dr. Larned. Even when answers were not coming as soon as I would have liked, Dr. Larned, kept pushing me to stay positive and pointed out the silver lining of eliminating some of the worst scenarios. Shadow was eventually diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and is doing much better. I credit Dr. Larned for not only giving me sound medical advice, but also for being a compassionate voice of reason. Bedside manner seems to be lost in the world of big business and I am so grateful that in spite of the fact that Herring Cove is owned by a heartless corporation, Dr. Larned and Makaila have managed to keep the light of humanity alive in their practice.”
