This unique venue has it all! The food and drinks were delicious and the cinema brought back so many memories. I also love the excellent choice of films that aren’t found in mainstream venues. Thanks, Bookhouse!

Hidden gem in Joplin and a must try. Cool vibe, food, bar, and events. Menu is unique but excellent options to pick from. Games and hang out space. Indie movies, comedy, open mics.

Bookhouse Cinema was established in 2018 as Joplin's Indie Focused Film Center with a mission of bringing independent, classic, documentary, foreign, and unique film screenings to the Joplin area in a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment. We offer a full restaurant with a full service bar in a casual counter-service environment. We collaborate frequently with local arts organizations, public media, Missouri Southern State University, and myriad businesses across the Joplin area. We enjoy helping people execute successful catered events, parties, celebrations, and artistic expressions. We strive to be a safe space for respectful people of all identities.
