“My first time euthanizing an animal and they made it as easy and pleasant as possible. My 18 year old cat, Maggie had suddenly gotten sick and she wasn’t eating. Dr Brench gave her fluids and antibiotics and prescribed an appetite stimulant. Everything helped to extend Maggie’s life for about a month but this past weekend I knew her end was near.I brought her to CPV at 11am and was treated so compassionately by the staff. They took me to a quiet room where a soft blanket was set up on a large shelf. I was able to spend as much time as needed to say goodbye to my best little friend and companion. At this point Maggie was so weak she was just laying sideways on the floor. I lay down next to her and stroked her slowly, touching once again her fragile bones on her thin body.We wrapped her in the blanket and I was able to hold her right to the end. She never flinched or made any sound at all. Within 5 seconds she passed, and Dr Robbin’s compassionate manner made the whole experience peaceful and stress free. I recommend Central Park Vet for their caring nature and professional manner during such a heartbreaking time.”

I am a die-hard dog fanatic, active in dog sports (agility, obedience), well-read and educated about dog-related topics, and I do a lot of holistic stuff with my pets as well (I have a separate vet to guide me in that realm, but I've appreciated the AHC vets keeping an open mind about it). It's been important to me that I feel heard and respected, and I get that at AHC. We don't always have to agree, but I value the opinion of the vets here and I feel that they always have the best interest of my pets at heart. I have also found their prices to be competitive and the vets always willing to consider options that don't necessitate spending tons of money on tests or treatments. They have also been super responsive, by phone or email, to any questions or requests I've had. I believe most of their staff has also had training in "fear free" methods of working with pets, and that is reflected in their office set up and the way they interact with my pets. Choosing a vet can be a very personal decision, but I feel comfortable in recommending that you give AHC a try!”

“Had a great experience here with our first visit last month. Our usual vet was booked out almost a month and we couldn't wait that long so we decided to give Central Park a call. Covid has thrown all sorts of weird and wacky new procedures our way but everyone here was great. I called to let them know I was there, they called back to get some info about my dog and then they came right out to the car to get her. After her visit, the vet called, he was SO nice and thoroughly explained what he thought was wrong and talked about the medicine he would send out with her. The price was almost MUCH better than any other vet I've been to in the area. Will definitely be switching both dogs to make this our permanent vet.”

My animals are my family, over the past 20 plus years they have celebrated when I brought in new family members for a first visit and cried with me while helping them cross the bridge. They have always treated us with nothing but kindness and compassion. When my animal's illness or injury was beyond Dr. McKiernan's expertise, he referred me to a specialist who could help. My Rottweiler Largo was the 2nd dog to have TPLO surgery at Tufts University. He helped us get Largo into a cancer trial that extended the quality of her life until she passed at 8 from osteosarcoma. Dr. McKiernan doesn't sugar coat things, the health and well being of my animals have always been the top priority. They understand everyone is not created equal financially and and will go over options.My Bullmastiff Bella lived to be 13 1/2 and a large part of that is because of their care. She truly loved them and would wag when she got to go behind the counter and check out the clinic in the back. Time and time again Dr. McKiernan and all the staff over the years have been there for us. They all have loved and treated my animals like their own and still reminisce with me.Recently I took home an unadoptable medical foster from a shelter to live out her life on my couch. Lola's backstory is heartbreaking and I wanted Dr. McKiernan's opinion on end of life care. What he found after having files, labs, pathologies and medical records from 3 states sent to him and his own exam, was a dog that qualified for treatment. Months of red tape with the state and shelter Dr. Jim McKiernan is solely responsible for getting Lola a health certificate which allowed me to adopt her.The staff is always so friendly when I call to make an appointment and understanding when I'm worried. When we arrive for our appointment not only do I get a big hello but so does Lola. The tech has looked at Lola's chart and knows why we're there and gives her lots of attention and treats while taking notes.I will never be able to express how grateful I am, I don't have the words.”

“I have never met a more caring group of individuals anywhere, not just at other veterinary offices. When my dog became suddenly ill a few months ago he was misdiagnosed at two other places and we almost lost him multiple times. I made the choice to try VECC and started seeing Dr. Rollings. Every single person at this facility is caring, patient, and incredible at what they do from the front desk person to the internist vet. My dog is generally very anxious to go to the vet but he has wagged his tail every time going in here. Despite how sick he's been he seems to feel happy and comfortable at VECC. It has been a long road and we may still have a ways to go but I feel confident that they are doing everything they can so save my dog.While going through all of this my other dog became ill, likely from the stress of the first dog being sick. I brought her into VECC emergency department and they were amazing with her as well!The emergency or specialist vet is a place you hope to never need to visit. But I am so grateful that I found VECC!”
